  2. Hello everyone, From now on, I will organize some demos most thursday 8pm (20h) and some saturday afternoon 2pm (14h) at this place : Ludothèque des Romains, 9 rue de la solidarité ANNECY. I'm also starting a Christmas league at the same place. Something to put some little gifts under the pine tree ! It will last from thursday, november the 16th until the last day of the year. Hi everyone, I've noticed there is 2 different definitions for bulletproof and i wish to know which one is the correct one, I've checked the 2 first books and the occurences are 6 to 7... : (Iggy) Bullet Proof +1: Reduce all damage suffered by this model from Sh Actions by +1, to a minimum of 1. (Rusty Alyce) Bullet Proof +1: Reduce all damage suffered by this model from Sh Attack Actions by +1, to a minimum of 1. Or maybe it's "normal" that two abilities with the same name could have two differents descriptions.
  4. Nobody tried the weasel with Cheating Bastard ? Most of its abilities are card intensive and i thought that could be used somehow... It's right you loose a 0 henchman and pay 4 for a peon, but maybe that's just something we could try...

Things that are not good enough to see plays : High river monk : 3" push, A bit more thoughness or maybe another tactical / attack tengu > Still the Earth : Mobility triggers / Some effects based on the color of the discarded cards. Maybe 1 more Df archers : a little more def/hp, a descent 0 action fuhatsu : min dmg 3 ? Things that see too much plays! : Yasunori : min dmg 2 Shadow emissary : cast 6 TN 12 Rite of strenght Brother : ? Let's discuss what would be the best for our faction !

  7. Hi all, I've been playing a game lately with a nice Neverborn table with some big mushrooms on it. One of them is considered to be a Hazardous Terrain. There was a big mushroom with Ht 3 quite close to it and my opponent took Zoraida. On turn 3, most of my models have died to a an angry voodoo doll... He just summoned the totem on top of the Ht 3 mushroom, linked it to one of my model (Ca 7 with 2 tries...), jumped for 3 damage and ran into the mushroom for another 4 damages (yes, the 5 times that happened i flipped max damages...). Do you guys use some Hazardous Terrain at home ? In tournament ? How do you handle that kind of situation ?

  11. And by insane I mean something a master of the Miniature game would never dream of ! Like a teleportation manifested power as a (0) stacking rams each turn with a blast spell with critical strike (before v2). The character was lvl 1, he could shoot 3/4/5 ignore armor & Hard to wound, he had critical strike. 4 jumps later he shots twice a turn for 7/8/9 (ignore armore & H2W) I will not add the teleportation spell could bring his friends with him. So i said stop. The second spell he tried did a lot fewer damage (2/3/4) with the root+push combo and slow, so 5/6/7 slow at lvl 1. So i said stop And the list goes on ! ( and i'm not talking about the karate augmented with 4 attacks a turn hitting for 4/5/6 at lvl3) So yes, i forbid what's too powerfull. It's a pleasant game (world, fluff and all) but it's not balanced... once i admit it, i just act accordingly.
  12. there seem to be a number of things your FM takes issue with that the player characters are attempting. They are attempting that they cannot die, they are attempting that they one shot any opposition, they are trying to reach the limits the game offers. I do not want to answer to insane with more insane, i want them to explore the game and be happy to be challenged. They are like kids in front of a sweet box, they'll swallow it whole and be sick with it. I just want them to enjoy the world, the fluff and all the possibilities. To do so, I have to limit the amount of sweets they eat at the same time But don't worry for them, when i'm trying to balance something, they just do something insane with something else
  13. This game is awesome, players have so many possibilities to play with, but this also allows them to build something very (too) strong.
  14. I am the infamous fatemaster in the story and i think I may have to clear a few things for people to understand my decisions. My group of players are 36+ y/o with non stop roleplaying since childhood. They enjoy the game, the challenge and all, but they mostly enjoy digging in the books to find what's insane. I got very few problem with most of the buff spells taken appart from the book but i'll give you an exemple : occultation (diminish by one the gravity of the damage and if it's weak, you take damage-1 that can be reduce to 0) is a good spell in itself but... When you are under the care of your doctor friend and you have an arcane shield... and/or you start getting some armor. Whatever the TN, or the duration, the character just can't be dealt damage. Anyway, the players and i always try to find a solution. That was the same for the weapons, like a few rifles, the crusher, the Int + flip useable during combat... The NPCs are quite the same as Malifaux, so if I feel something would never happen to exist in the wargame, I find it legit to do something. Don't worry, they are still much more powerful than guardsmen ! I don't want my players to be frustrated, but i also want them to have fun. Being undying and one shooting NPCs is everything but fun. (For me and for them). But something most of them are just very bad at is simply doing something "balanced"...
  15. Hi everyone, I'll talk about translations in general, the french one in particular. That's around 2 months we have the translation of the book 1 for free and I have to give my concerns about it and a few questions. Do you know if wave 2-3-4-5 are planned ? Will we have to wait as long as we did with the rules and wave 1? What chance do we have to develop Malifaux in france ? How can I make my friend, who owns a Gaming store start selling Malifaux when his providers got almost nothing in stock and there is no french book for sale ? How his customers are to discover Malifaux and ask their shop to sell some ? I was very happy when I saw the french book got released and I have to say i was quite surprise when we could get it for free, i could have gladly pay for it. Then i downloaded it and regretted my first thoughts : I would have been quite angry to pay for this. And the more i read it, the more disappointed i grew... Some translations were almost direct google translate. An ability can be called differently in different places (pounce has like 4 different translations) The descriptions of some abilities are different almost everytime (like Critical Strike) Draw a card and flip a card both have the same translation. Some (pistol icon) were replace by Tir(Sh) and vis versa. Capital letters were used randomly. Etc... So i told myself : that doesn't matter, at least we got it for free. But there has been an exemple : a few days ago, i wanted to initiate a french only speaking friend, and as he read his cards printed from the book, he couldn't understand some stuff because it was wrong in the book. When the french book was released, the french community checked it and we started to point out what was wrong. But there was a lot too much to do so, I took on myself to build a complex file to have all the correction I would ask to have the Malifaux english speaking persons have. Now i got a 100 pages word document with most of the things that troubled me. Even if I'm quite new to Malifaux (a year only) I'm a Magic tcg player since a long time now and I saw that both games have in common that the vocabulary we use can't be chosen lightly. Also, more than a year before the release, some corrections were already made by this very same community but due to the lack of communication of the service provider, that job was done for nothing. And i fear all the time I spent correcting the book 1 since it's released follow the same way... So, now i have started translating the other books for my friends or some potential player when i'll be a henchman because i wan't the people around me to be able to chose whatever they like. I really hope that everything I've done will be usefull. Thx for reading

  17. Hi, as a rolemaster, i was wondering about this skill and it's description... Academicians do make wonderfull snipers since they have most of the time a huge Intel score. Book Smart description says the character had most of the time it's head in books and that it has a pretty poor reaction time. My concern is that the only restriction for this skill is it cannot be used for Magical challenges. What of dramatic times ? What of getting a +flip while sniping my NPCs ? In fact, i found it a good thing that Rifle used the Int to fight with BUT a lot of things are designed to be used during Narrative time without taking in consideration those Sniping thing.

Hey, I hope you'll enjoy the event, we'll try to follow from afar For the upgrade deck, thanks for the feedback but pretty frustrated since i just waited this morning to be sure my friends didn't miss anything... And after the gencon, there won't be the awesome exclues and us european people can't afford the 20+$ shipping fee for the upgrade deck alone ! I would have agreed to wait several weeks if need be with my whole order, but there is not the option.
  21. AWESOME !! Sooooooo, there we are ! I've just checked the rulebook and it's more than just the rules, it's the whole first book they let us dl for free. Now I have tons of questions - Are the cards errated ? - When will the other books be available (even if we have to buy them) - Will it be possible to buy the french cards (or exchange english for french ones) ? I know you may not have precise dates for all those answers but... at least I'm conscious clear since I've asked Well, a big thanks for the translation team and i wish them best of luck for what's to come
