  1. Just a few games I have been looking at today. Card Hunter, Gremlins inc and SteamWorld Heist. Not exactly what I am after but two of them are at least Steam Punk.

This one also looks interesting "Tales Of Wuxia", turn-based martial arts :)

I am playing Panoptes at the moment. Its an early access CCG game with a Cyberpunk vibe. It has a nice mix of magic and conventional combat and stunning artwork. They just released a big update and you can now get the demo for free on steam.

  2. I believe Malifaux would make an excellent transition to computer game. I did see a reference recently to a possible Malifaux computer game in the future. Will keep my eye on how this develops :)

I would also recommend Morheim for those that have not tried it yet. The interface is a bit clunky but its got a great dark fantasy feel :)

  3. Many thanks all for the recommendations. I have played all the games mentioned and enjoyed them all. The exception to this is Xcom 2, am waiting for my new PC before I download this title from steam. Was hoping I had missed some titles that would fit my need.

I am currently considering Steam Squad. http://store.steampowered.com/app/290870/

Looks interesting and has a steampunk theme, though no magic I believe?

Throw in a little more Mate, but not too much, because English is not my first language:mellow:.
    Badger:

Velocity, Chrome, Spirit, Jet, Sotar (they all almost same Renegade family, only Sotar wgot few differences, Chrome is upgradet version but Im not big fan of him)

    +Reliable

    +Price
    +Cheap spare parts
    +Easy to dismantle
    +Little number of seals
+Two sets of sizes 2 '3' perfect for detail, and still wgot posibilitis tu put primer etc
+And the biggest advantage of doing very well with detail on weaker/worst/thicker paints. Thats realy sweet thing when you start/learn

    -Sometimes a little sloppy execution
-A few years ago they released some f ... ed up needles. Fixed now, but I've lost trust.

H&&: Ultra> evolution> infinity. (From left to right. More expensive, then better models. All share the same needle and nozzle. But the higher model is, more fun options. I'm not a fan of the cheapest, because it has a one-piece needle cap & air head. During painting, you can not come to a needle. But after a time you can buy set of parts from evolution)
    Evolution Alu lighter model

    + They look sexy :)
    + Precision execution
+ lots of additional options (nozzle needels from 1.5 -2 -4 -6 ...) Cups, side fiding option, convertible parts between models
    + reliability
+ You can build your own custom with your name on the the manufacturer site :)

-not realy, just mabe price of parts or complicated structure. But it is all relative

You want 2' maybe 4' for bigger jobs, and after some time try 1.5 needle noozle sets but dont start from that.

Great information ReDevil. Thank you. I am looking at the H&S website now. What about compressors for the H&S? And what paints are best used?

Next I recommend getting Strongarm Suit, Lazarus and Hannah- not now, since they are a bit complex models(maybe except Lazarus, but you'll have enough shooting models for start). For me Hannah is one of the best henchman in the game, especially against models with lots of Ca actions(like Arcanists and Neverborn) because of her amazing WP 8, Nether Flux and Counterspell and ability to use Ca actions of ANY model(except friendly leader, unless your master is Von Schill) ad great Arcane Reservoir to draw another card. Lazarus is powerful blast shooting model with upgraded rapid fire- you can target any models in range to perform attacks, so if you kill model with first one the two next doesn't disappear. Strongarm Suit has great tanking capabilities, and augmented jump, just like the Von Schill.

But first thing you should get is definitely Generalist Upgrade deck(at least outcasts from it, so if you have a friend who is playing Malifaux with different faction you can split the deck, reducing costs for both of you).

Many thanks, Cedar. The models you mention shall be added to my reading list for this evening :)

I use Johan with my currently (thin) Parker crew. He pulls his weight and then some, and he does sort of fit thematically. Mot outlaw gangs in the old movies have a heavy after all.

And I think Big Jake is available now, too? Also thematic and really good for his Stone cost.

Bike Jake is another strapping chap. Love the model as well. Looking at the wiki if he is killed or discarded during the game on turn 5 he is reincarnated next to any friendly model. Not a bad little trick that lol

I have started looking at the wiki more and more as I consider models and how they would interact on the table. It's all very interesting especially as the majority of the models are from the "mercenary" faction. Will really help me flesh out other faction crews I want to collect :)

I find Hans to be pretty terrible in comparison to the Trapper personally. Have both, but have never had a situation where Hans would have been a better choice. YMMV of course.

Consider picking up Johan. He is one of the strongest models we have, point for point, and he can find a place in most crews (Outcast or otherwise).

Added Johan to my crew list. He is a formidable looking fellow is he not! Some interesting skill and upgrades as well looking at the wiki :)

  8. I forgot about the Trapper in the Von Schill box set. As mentioned above he is a good sniper, I have seen him at work in quite a few battle reports.

I will still get Hans, I would really like to paint him. As suggested I can then alternate between Hans and the Trapper just to get a feel for how they both work.

Once again, I appreciate all the feedback. There is a lot to learn and all the advice given is invaluable :)

The Dead Outlaws are not released yet, but will be in several month probably. Stat cards for Parker's crew are not available online, but in September new book- Ripples of fate is going to be released and stats of banditos/Mad Dog/Doc Mitchell are there(together with other models).

What about all the previously released models such as bishop etc?

  10.

Parker is good master for new players in my opinion. He has access to very different upgrades, so he can adapt to various situations. There is another topic here with experience when playing him.

His crew are great, although I would replace Banditos with Undead Outlaws- even if they costs 1 SS more, their potential is incredible. Banditos mentioned above are nice scheme runners and solid minions. Not as much as Freikorpsmann or Dead Outlaw, but can jump from the cover, take focused shot and jump back. Mad Dog is great for pushing enemies or blowing up cover, and Doc can heal everyone and grant them hard to wound. Overall solid crew, but it requires a box or two.

There are few other models that are very strong and have a fluff feeling of running bandits crew- Sue and Convict Gunslinger. Both are nice with powerful ranged attack and benefit greatly from new Return Fire upgrade. You also want Bishop against melee heavy crews.

I can't seem to find "Undead Outlaws" in the store? I have looked in the other factions but for the life of me, I can't see them?

Also, Where can I find the stat cards and details for the rest of the crew from a box set? The details for masters are there but not the crews that accompany them. The same goes for individual models that have been mentioned such as Bishop etc?

  11.

As others have mentioned he is not general release at the moment. No guarantee on availability for Black Friday but that is probably going to be your next window of opportunity. I'd honestly recommend waiting and revisiting him in the future. In general Sue is going to be almost an auto-include and the Dead Outlaws which we only have rules from Ripples on are fantastic with him.

If you have previous wargaming experience you can pickup just about any master. The restriction usually comes from what you will have to buy to make them "tick". Fortunately the only model I really think you will have in almost every Parker crew is Sue. You can definitely choose to not utilize all of Parker's "tricks" and still get a lot of mileage out of him.

There's also nothing wrong with staying in Outcasts and build out units you will use with Parker eventually... Sue as mentioned is great, as is Envy from the Crossroads Seven box. Jack Daw has a somewhat similar play style with control or ability to switch gears and pump out a lot of damage. The Hired Swords box to get Ronin and Taelor is also a solid option.

So certain boxed sets are not for general release? Is this the case with most new packs or are they counted as "Limited Editions"?

  12.

I'd suggest you go with this type of feeling. Any master can be learned. You'll play it more if you want to play it, and practice makes perfect. That said, your biggest bar to entry is that Parker is not for general sale. As such you'd have to scrounge one up, or keep your fingers firmly crossed until Black Friday.

Yes, I think "That Feeling" about a particular model must be satisfied lol. I am not sure if others do the same, but I personally always project myself on a particular model in games. This model will represent me personally on the battlefield and I get very attached to them :)
