Aha so the distinction missed is between simple and opposed duels, thank you for the quick reply.

I've scoured the net for this one and really just need a simple answer. I understand that you can cheat fate on duels, damage and healing, accounting for any modifiers ect. Therefore if the Scion of Black Blood uses Forbidden ritual on a friendly model and fails to flip the required total of 14, he couldn't cheat a card from his hand to make the flip successful because its not a duel, damage or heal? Or am I wrong and you can cheat fate on a tactical action that is neither a duel, heal or damage?
