  1. Wow ! Insanely good as ever...thankyou for your inspiration...looking forward to more in 2019 👍
  2. @Franchute Great choice of colour and very nice blending...base looks excellent as well 👍
  3. This happened to me and I wrote to Wyrd direct...no reply BUT a couple of weeks later they shipped me the missing part of the order direct from the U.S.
  4. @Caedrus....and there was me thinking that the Panzer of the Lake had parked itself exclusively outside my house...there must be more than one Panzer...I didn't listen either 🤣 For my January pledge I am going to finish the Shikome I started in last year's Challenge before falling by the wayside....I will also be attempting to finish and base at least one fireteam of The Warped from The Other Side ,so three figures.....the Holidays have given me a chance to pick up tools and brush again to get a ton of prep work done on Cult Of Burning Man from The Other Side....already looking forward to seeing how many I can get finished in the coming months...before I start buying reinforcements 🤣
  5. @Caedrus $40 ?!!...congratulations !....Good fortune indeed...😊...haven't picked out my models for the Challenge quite yet...too much to choose from...my shelf of shame won't fit on a shelf 😉
  6. Excellent ! Now there's at least two of us trying to keep up - I'll race you to the back of the line 😂
  7. @Adran Thanks for that - I'd somehow missed that post - makes more sense and works for me 👍...and yeah...2 for a Motor Scout that you need to break apart if you want to get to every bit of it ? Might leave that one for a while until we arrive at a happy compromise @Caedrus working to these values please sign me up for Henchman
  8. @Caedrus thanks for taking this into consideration....at the end of the day, for me at least, it's about getting a model painted and onto the table regardless of game...I'll have a look later at the Bad Things Happen app and get some idea for the lowest value Soulstone models....base size is a good call...most of the lower value Malifaux models are on a 30mm base as are most of the plug in fire team bases for TOS...if we can get some kind of equivalence there it would work for me...obviously that's just my opinion...I'll be happy to go with whatever the group decides in the long haul
  9. First of all thanks once again @Franchute for all your diligence 👍 - I look forward already to seeing what you will paint next year...and @Caedrus thankyou for taking this on 👍 it brings a great amount of enjoyment each month notwithstanding juggling free time with work I will definitely be back in January...not sure at what level....I have got a ton of TOS figures to paint and kind of want to use the Challenge as a lever to getting them on the table @Caedrus A question re TOS "soulstone" equivalents....if I paint a TOS titan such as Gorysche or King's Hand which are both at least three to four times bigger than any Malifaux model they are worth 7 Scrip in TOS....Margaret Bell a single figure commander is worth 25 Scrip whereas a squad of ECB Black Ops come in at 10 Scrip for nine figures...I want to sign up as henchman but there is no way I will finish nine figures in a month and even if I did on a straight Scrip for Soulstone exchange I'd still be one short ! - they may come pre assembled but they are in every way as intricate as Malifaux models... ...basically two to three models per month in Malifaux is a significant achievement and can make Henchman level in the Challenge because three figures can make a lot of difference within faction and their Soulstone value reflects it....every one of The Broken in TOS could easily pass as a character from Malifaux but the game is built around massed squads so two five figure bases come in at 5 Scrip in total....is there a way we could make it work on a per model basis ? Just asking 😉 Happy Holidays to everyone and look forward to seeing your models next year
  10. Unless you know someone who is already playing it then photos will count for a lot...neither do I do tournaments but one or two shows a year yes...but if that isn't possible it's the photos of games and minis that gets me asking "wow ! What's that ?"...once we start seeing the minis in context of a game as opposed to studio shots or renders then from what I saw this weekend there is definitely a ton of visual appeal with an intriguing gameplay...it's only just starting to hit the shelves...I'm already working out what I want to buy next
  11. Most importantly IMHO is to keep all speculation in perspective....for those involved in The Kickstarter it has been a two year build up...for those looking on or curious the same.....for the rest of the world however it is brand new...my LFGS has none yet in stock...the first demo was this last weekend and it was favourably received....as @LunarSol mentioned it will take tournaments to establish the game and demos at conventions to enthuse newcomers...as the first pictures of games and painted squads go online then for myself I have no doubt that interest will gather apace😉
  12. It's December and in the course of this year's challenge I fell by the wayside some months ago.....that doesn't mean however that I haven't been following everyone's progress when I can...and PROGRESS is truly what it is... ...since my first involvement with @prof_bycid at the helm to @Franchute not only generously giving up his free time to painting ,but helping us all come together via the internet to share our enjoyment of sticking ridiculously small pieces of plastic together to make them real in an imaginary scenario ,I have watched as we all turned our hoarded boxes of kits into game pieces ....and in all of this over the last couple of years I have seen ALL involved improve along the way...this is truly a great thing...to see month by month people from all over the world sharing their efforts and techniques online for the benefit of others...I thank you all...as a result I now have to buy another case for finished models.... ...unfortunately now that my TOS Kickstarter has arrived I may have to buy not just another storage case but another living space !...at my current rate of progress with my backlog of models I might need to stop doing everything else...but good news ! I'm up for that challenge as well... I will endeavour to join you all again in the New Year now that @Caedrus has graciously stepped forward to run the challenge...due to the nature of my work that sees me travel often I am already doubt that I will make a full year but nonetheless I really do enjoy the company when I'm around Thanks and BEST WISHES to you ALL for your efforts and inspiration - it makes my free time a real pleasure
  13. Many thanks Tom for hosting the demo....I arrived like a total outsider but you all made me feel not just welcome but part of the game...and post demo as a no longer outsider all I can say is "oh yeah!!" ...came away not just looking forward to painting some great miniatures but anticipating seeng them in action....only regret ?...I didn't buy an Immolated Rhino* *Kudos to whoever coined that model designation...for me it's already on the level of "Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch" albeit that ECB Black Ops are going to receive the full attention of my brushes as soon as I'm free
  14. Invested in Malifaux over the years between me and my partner but today went to my LFGS to attend a demo of TOS....so...am a Kickstarter investor but an outsider/newbie for this game...first taste ? Oh yeah ! Bring it on !....that's just me...but from other people in the shop both a lot of curiosity and compliments notwithstanding the fact that the shop to date has only just taken delivery of the rulebook...because I have never been a part of 40K etc etc I cannot compare it to game x y or z I can only judge from other people's reactions around me...answer = it's a goer...my reaction ?.......I wish I'd bought an Immolated Rhino
  15. Wish all others that their orders arrive soon....confirmation from me meanwhile that the Field Intelligence Corps that were missing from my order have just arrived...posted to me directly from Wyrd and at their expense plus labelled so that I don't get an import charge....conformation for me at least that Wyrd are obviously doing as much as possible to sort out whatever has happened with planned distribution
  16. First up this only my opinion and whilst it is something I feel strongly enough to comment on I have no wish to upset anyone..it's a game... When I first came across Malifaux it was during the changeover from 1e to 2e...because the new plastics were coming into my LFGS a few at a time it gave me the chance to compare old with new and I much preferred both the new plastic sculpts as well as the artwork that went with them...I was hooked and over the last years bought many models that were outside either mine or my partners factions purely for the aesthetic alone....my partner was equally enthusiastic as it was her who had first seen Rasputina when she was still in stripey stockings 1e version....then something happened around the time of Broken Promises when the artwork seemed to start veering towards being overtly cartoonish...I could ignore the artwork if the sculpts don't follow suit... @yool1981 posted the 3e version of Dashael...case in point...Captain Vanilla...total cartoon...not dark...not anything except comic book proportions and comic book colors ...rules wise I can understand that Malifaux perhaps needed streamlining, but visually ? Visually nothing was broken ...it didn't need fixing...Cult Of Burning Man in TOS has all the weirdness and horror of Malifaux so Wyrd have definitely still got it all going on in the design and art department... ...end of the day I am only one customer and if the new direction brings in a load of new players then I am cool that my opinion will be of zero consequence...having invested so much time and money to date I don't want to diss what I haven't yet seen in full but from the previews of what is to come at a visual level unfortunately I find myself high scoring on the "meh" scale
  17. @KikkerVisje hope your order turns up soon....I'm still waiting for the Field Intelligence Corps that weren't in my order
  18. @brian291 sorry to hear that and please update as you learn more....part of my order was missing (field intelligence corps) - I wrote to Wyrd but so far have heard nothing back
  19. Hi Tom...I will be in contact nearer the time but will totally be up for seeing how it all works down at the Waterloo store (my LFGS for some years now)....good luck with the painting - my brushes will be on fire over the Holidays
  20. Lovely work with a dynamic palette, nice basing too....lucky client
  21. Nice work so far and good to see....I've managed to fill and prime just over thirty Cult figures so far but won't be able to get down to painting in earnest for a couple of weeks now....great sculpts and really looking forward to seeing everybody's take on them
  22. @dalezzz just to reconfirm that with regard to paint I'm continuing to test as I go...am now using liquid green stuff and it's doing its job like it does on regular Malifaux models With regard to squishiness....have currently washed, scrubbed, deflashed and primed around thirty five models...the majority I would store in a pluck and pull case like my Malifaux figures and would not be concerned...I have not worked on any of the Royal Rifle Corps yet however...the rifle barrels and bayonets in particular are so fine that the bayonet itself is a bit too flexible for my taste BUT I would hazard after my experience so far that it will still take paint ok...having said that for those models in particular the harder grey plastic used on Samantha Thrace would have been preferable if I were given a choice...although having said that the slightly softer material seems to hold detail incredibly well Ultimately I guess it will only be in a few months time when a whole bunch of us have based and varnished figures that have been played and handled repeatedly that we'll have a clearer overview...much as I love the regular Malifaux plastic to work with it is nonetheless terrifyingly difficult to handle some models (I'm looking at you Will o Wisps and Goryo) and keep them intact whereas The Other Side models retain the same level of detail without risking damage...if it means retouching barrels or bayonets I would take that over having to glue parts back on as well as repainting - those bayonets in regular plastic would be a nightmare and I know that from having had an interest in WW1 wargame figures where even in thicker metal getting them in and out of storage inevitably resulted in first bent then missing bayonet tips or broken barrels A video can surely help in the discussion...the hot water to cold when rebending parts certainly seems to stiffen some parts....not sure what is happening chemically there but it works...will be curious to try on those rifles...am also trying to figure out if it's in my imagination or whether some boxes have fractionally stiffer plastic or whether it is because they have less very thin parts...I dropped one of the Rifle Corps while handling it - if it was regular Malifaux plastic it would have detonated...as it is no worries...even if initially there is a touch of doubt in the long term I think the recipe will work in our favour
  23. As I started opening boxes I was similarly a little concerned...BUT....the hot water to cold immediately straightened bent parts out....then a brand new scalpel blade lifted off the very little flash and now twenty four hours after I hit a few models with a coat of Mig One Shot primer I tried a flex test on one of the many thin parts....no paint flaked or cracked and as they are still at primer stage I gave it a good go - no cracking...and now a third test on the very thin arm of one of the Warped - no worries - all good Also (this is a question maybe someone @Wyrd could answer) there does appear to be different plastics involved...Samantha Thrace and Bini Nguyen are both made from a darker grey and much harder plastic
