  1. I started Malifaux in the summer of 2016 with Arcanists. I honestly chose Ramos to be my first Master because I didn't have a local community to play with I thought I could at least use Joss and Howard in my Necromunda Pit Slave gang if I couldn't get others interested. I also picked up Mei Feng as their boxes seemed to synergize well and she seemed fun. Naturally I haven't played Necromunda once since then but have played around 150 games of Malifaux so I'm not complaining.

I have a strong win record with Ramos but he's not the most fun for me to play. To be fair, I haven't tried out his Wave 5 Upgrades yet. I've had swingy results with Mei but I enjoy her. I think I need a few more models to go with her to make her pop.

My favorite Arcanist Masters to play are Rasputina and Marcus. They're both very fun to play and I have good records with them.

To shake things up in 2018 I plan to play Neverborn for all my competitive (Tournament) games. I'll still take out the Arcanists for fun games. Who knows who I'll play in 2019.

I know I’m a few days late but I’m going to finish two masters this month. The alt Perdita that has been taunting me to build her and my new vintage Hamelin!  I am however a scrub and forgot how to post photos from a mobile device so if I could get pointers that would be extremely helpful.

Go here and set up a free account: https://imgbb.com

The link to upload pics is in the top right of the screen. When you're done uploading your pic copy the URL for BBCode medium linked. Paste that URL into your post and it will become your pic. Welcome Aboard.

  3. Happy New Year! Thanks again to @Franchute for taking this on and a big thanks to @prof_bycid for running 2017.

I need to get my Cherub and Beckoner done for a tournament coming up in 2 weeks. Beckoner came to me headless in a trade so I'm going to have to figure something out for that. Once these are done there's a lot of ways I might go. Possibilities include Barbaros, 2x Stitched Together, 2x Waldgeists, or stripping/repainting Lucius who I got in trade.

  4. @Joachim I think your colors are looking great. I especially like the transition on Barbados' wings.

Grootslang's base looks amazing but I worry about it effecting playability. How much height does it add? Is it stable? (Not trying to be negative. Just bringing up concerns and wondering how you've addressed them.)

Good luck finishing them for your game tomorrow. #playpainted

  5. I finished the Mysterious Emissary completing my initial pledge for the month and bringing me to 31ss so far. I'm traveling (with my paint and models) but don't have my light box so these pics  of the Emissary will have to do.

I'm going to start working on Mr. Tannen, Cherub and the Mysterious Effigy and hopefully I'll finish 2-3 by the end of the year.

  6. I think Lilith's Cherub is something of a dark horse. It certainly doesn't win out over Primordial Magic all the time but I think it has it's place. I also think it's value may increase in 2018.

That 3" Aura of reduced cost Interactions will definitely help in Supply Wagon for Instance.

  7. I'm new to NB and Lucius so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

I've used Guild Hounds to good effect but you could use Corrupted Hounds to similar effect and stay within NB. I think a case could be made for hiring a Guild Austringer but I haven't tried it yet.

Off topic, but Lucius has good synergy with a Freikorps Trapper. Issue Command with a Ram to give the Trapper a Focused shot. Alternately have the Trapper out of LOS, Issue Command with the built in Mask for a 3" push to line up a shot and then the Trapper uses it's Trigger to push after shooting to go back into hiding.

I have some questions, might be me being stupid, but would like some clarification.

For a model to count as complete, it need also to be based or just painted?

Can I add more models to my pledge, if for example I finnish my pledged ss early?

Can I pledge half painted models, or do they need to be from scratch?

Franchute is running 2018 so will have final say but based off of how things ran in 2017:

    1. You decide when your model is finished and counts for points. I never consider mine done until based but I believe others have posted pics and claimed points for unbased models.

    2. You can add to or change the models in your monthly pledge at any time. I think the reason we do a pledge at the start of the month is to set goals for ourselves and to encourage and inspire each other.

    3. A model counts for the month you finish it in. For example I started Nekima in late November but finished her and claimed points for her this December.

The Monthly Painting Challenge is not a contest or event. It's mostly a way for us to challenge ourselves, share our work, and give and get feedback and tips. I've really enjoyed 2017 and look forward to 2017. My painting has also really improved over the past year which I attribute to finishing slightly over 1 mini a week (practice) and tips and tricks I've learned from this community.

  9. Will buy or trade for. If you're looking for a particular model in trade there's a good chance that I either have it or can get it.

    PM me.

Nevermind. A friend had one going spare.

  10. I played Lucius for the first time yesterday and went against my friend's Seamus list. At the end of Turn 4 I was winning 6-4. Strat was Public Executions and Richard had scored 2 pts each on Hold Up Their Forces and Inescapable Trap.

Top of Turn 5 I win Initiative and Activate Nekima. She proceeds to kill my own Effigy and Guild Hound leaving me with just her and Lucius on the board effectively (due to board state) preventing Richard from being able to win or tie me.

It sucks to work for Lucius.

@H4ml3t thanks! I'm a big fan of your work as well!

I tend to agree on more color in general. In this case there's a reason for it: My Ressers I try to do in a mostly monochrome style with a point or two of color. Genbu and other dual-faction Ressers are tricky because of this and tend to end up in an awkward middle ground in regard to color. I think I may add color to the wrap on his sword hilt in this case. Think that would help alleviate the awkward middle ground, or is there another aspect that jumps out to you?

Now that I understand your reasoning it makes sense. I think your idea to put color on the sword wrap will work nicely.
