  1. Have you played with the metallurgist? Redcing damage to 0 seems OK?
  2. I have only played Perdita 2 out of the new masters, and she was very good. Into The Vics 1 and had a very good match. Her shielded pulse and focus makes it very hard to kill in her bubble, and trick shot giving unresisted damage. Francisco with LLC survived a turn and a bit against both Vics, Bishop and Vanessa whaling on him. Took 4ss and my hand, but he wasted basically the entire 2nd turn of my opponent, whilst everyone else was whittling down/scheming. Turn 3 I put 1 Vik in a box, then killed the other. Edit: Her summons is good too. I'm gonna try and get some more games in as I REALLY enjoyed it! My list: Perdita 2, Nephilim, Francisco+LLC, Santiago+LLC, Sly, Nino, Steward, Effigy+upgrade, 4ss.
  3. Welcome to the Guild. Good job joining us from those shifty mofos at Neverborn. I guess Lucius would be a good half-way crew too, I suppose? But yeah. What sort of things are you looking for? What synergies did you miss?
  4. #Nellie4lyf! (Just coz she is the master I have done the best with, I won't have you saying anything bad!) In other news.... I regrettably only got 3e lucius with the cane. I am liking where his story is going, but kinda scared he is just gonna stop being guild at some point. I'll cry 😭
  5. Haha, IMO it is easier to paint human like as you KNOW what it is supposed to look like. Whereas it is easy to paint a monster with wild colours and it not looking great. Clothes, leather and skin is now incredibly easier with contrast paints from the GW range.
  6. To be fair when I first started playing Malifaux (after a taster game) I went into my local game store to decide which faction I was going to pick up.... and I saw the Purifying Flame as a skeleton on fire who is screaming at the world and decided that was what I wanted to play. I didn't know any of the rules for Sonnia, or any faction in general. And picked up guild purely because of that guy. If I was to be starting now, the choice may be different as there are like 20 new masters (with an entire faction) to look at as well. But honestly I would be choosing an explorer, probably the EVS as I like the look of them. Now I know the rules I am happy with guild. It is the right level of complexity and decision making for me. And the entire faction as an "army" looks great. It was quite easy to paint them as a uniformed "police" and I think that is good for anyone who doesn't like painting so much.
  7. @Maniacal_cackle Just curious, who were the LLC on? Agent and Lone Marshal as your main gunline? Or Agent and Pale Rider? To get the rider to survive long enough to get the 5 ram trigger on revel? This list looks super interesting. I really need to play more Lucius hopefully the title is cool too!
  8. Oh wow, I didn't realise they had different base sizes. That's a little awkward haha.
  9. Technically. But I would argue Yukou's is worse. Sure Sonnia can discard all 13's not just one suit for example. But Yukou can remove that 13 from the game. This would leave me waaaaay more tilted. And as a bonus action it isn't impacting what else she is doing. For Sonnia you are manipulating your opponent's deck instead of burning the enemy and dropping pyres. So yeah, they are different effects, but I would rather come up against Sonnia instead of Yukou....
  10. Yeah, if you look at Nellie's art it is clear that she read the wrong book.... who knows how it got there. But that is why she got corrupted. I feel Misaki is a good choice, because it progresses her story and is the next trial in her life. Maybe instead of just straight up being a cultist it has led into a sort of split identity, with 1 half doing burning man stuff, and the other half fixing it to prevent the TT from falling apart? We just don't know until the book drops at GenCon (and I for one am buying it immediately =P with ToS box)
  11. Thank you. I thought something like that would be intended (and turns out is actually correct). But I just wanted to make sure.
  12. Is this true? Don't you need to be at range 0 to declare the action? Otherwise there is no legal targets for it? But then you put the coffin within 1" of you and the enemy? Or is that me confusing things?
  13. I know this is a mildly old thread. But I just wanted to add my thoughts. Using Pylon's to lock out the strategy can deny your opponents points. But then they aren't giving your models shielded or power tokens. Most of the constructs have lower defensive stats, and without the power support may be easier to take out to score your schemes instead. A lot of your "prison" talks are, Hoffman has to do this, this THEN HIT the opponent. Surely playing against the inventor you keep your high card to defend. Much easier than bringing anti-tech pieces. Then the Hoffman has set up to prison you, and actually done nothing instead. This seems quite risky. If having a board covered in terrain is a problem, other Masters would already be a problem. (Basse and all severe, Ivan on a board of forests and so on). You can't say this is the problem with the game, it is just a part of it. Some masters will benefit from boards than others, and it influences you Master pick. While I see your points about it potentially being a NPE, I don't think it will be nearly as bad as you are suggesting. And only time will tell when more people have the chance to play with and against it.
  14. Effigy + upgrade is always a good shout for whichever faction you pick. And then a cache of 6ss?
  15. I've been using to wrong for years haha. So has my friend who quite often plays The Crossroads as a group!
  16. "Target suggers damage equal to the number of enemy models within 3 of itself." I thought that means Greed does damage based on the number of nearby enemy models to the target? Or is it enemies of greed?
  17. Yeah, this sucks. I played against Hamlin last time on evidence, and I got super lucky his rat kings were close to the front so I could push close enough to remove the markers. I personally feel that it should have something like "If this model is put to 1hp, or killed by a friendly model. The opponent may put the evidence on the centreline." It would stop any of the uninteractive gameplay. But then gg2 is soon, so it will probably leave
  18. You know, that actually makes me feel better. If good players do it, I don't feel as bad, as a bad player doing it
  19. I had a 10that I discarded, instead of an 11 and then proceeded with my plan and only after I had charged in with him realised it was totally my fault, and it ruined the game for me. Didn't stop me from burning many ghost people to dust.... but it definitely cost me the chance of winning!
  20. I also forgot pictures. Sonnia 4 vs Jack Daw 6 Sonnia, PF, Samael, Pale Rider, Lone Marshall, Spelleater, Witchling Thrall, 5ss. 2 Strat, 2 Let them Bleed, failed Vendetta. Jack Daw, Lady Lidea, Montressor, 2 Guilty, Hanged, Drowned, Jaakuna, 5ss. 4 Strat, 1 Let them Bleed (end), 1 Vendetta (reveal). I got to set up in the top right corner, allowing Sonnia to get a sightline covering half the map, and unable to be lured off the edge. T1, not a single shot was fired. He was playing cautious and I was just setting up. T2, he got initiative and made me go. Continued setting up (Sonnia had 4 focus now), and he slowly moved forwards. Then I made the misplay of the century running my Pale Rider forward in the attempt to give everything burning and some irreducible damage..... and I discarded my ram in the activation before instead of the tome. (And didn't flip a ram myself). He was then stuck in the middle of his crew and just died not achieving anything. 1 model burned to death, and several were real low. Score 2-0 (Vendetta of Montressor on Pale Rider, then Bounty from Pale Rider). T3, Sonnia was blasting several burning, and damage around his crew reducing the ranges of a lot of actions and being annoying. His crow was slowly advancing and starting to get the engine going. I was just trying to slow them down for Sonnia to continue her stuff. Score 3-2 (Let them Bleed reveal, Bounty from guilty/drowned, Bounty from Lone Marshall). T4, Sonnia had the best turn, making both Jaakuna and the Hanged into Witchling Thralls with scorch the soul. Score 4-3 (Bounty of Jaakuna/Hanged, Spelleater/Thrall). T5, One of the thralls chrged and killed Montressor twice, first punch he had 1hp, then second I flipped RJ for Crit Strike+2. Being staggered meant Sonnia couldn't disengage and flopped hopelessly around. Daw then executed both Sonnia and my Thrall who was left to activate. Score 6-4 (Bounty Sonnia/Thrall, Montressor, both scored end of Let them Bleed). Don't really have a lot else to say other than Mr Insomniakwulf was a great opponent, and I know I misplayed the rider. Probably would have gone very differently if I had done it correctly.
  21. I believe it is option 1. The charge is broken down into 2 parts. It specifically is a push, then make a melee action. So Make Way should trigger on both the push, and then on the trigger.
  22. Yup, I was lucky to get 2 points with the strat. Both rat kings were fairly far foward and I could get to them. I did have to wade through many, MANY models though.
  23. Yeah I thought about that. Shame I'm bad with LJ. Haha. Oh well, the worst that can happen is I lose right.... This is good to know. I guess I'll just read these masters and see if I can figure something out!
  24. I'm going up against ressers this weekend. And I have literally never played against them before in any edition of the game! (Theres no resser player in my local somehow.. ) Who looks good on this map? What sort of plans should I be going for/wary of?
