  1. You definitely need Hannah. I always take her in a 50ss VS game. So much utility, plus she's a decent beatstick who can tie up several models in melee.
  2. I just hired him into my campaign crew led by Hannah with I Pay Better. +1 hand size from Hannah, +1 card/turn (ideally) from Sue... should give me plenty of cards to discard for free focus while giving myself good cards to cheat with. Slam Hannah into a pack of models with Sue at her side. I don't see much of anything standing up to that for long, especially with a Librarian backing them up and a Strongarm running around wreaking havoc.
  3. If you have access to Sue, consider taking him just to target Hungering Darkness.
  4. Did you like the part where I insulted your intestinal fortitude? Week 1 of the 6-week campaign was a success. My 35ss Arsenal consists of Hannah, Strongarm, Librarian, and Trapper, as well as I Pay Better. 1ss left over went to scrip. I went with this list to play with a fully-painted crew. I paired off vs. Sybelle, Copycat, and a couple each of Belles and Doxies. There were soulstone vein markers available for omnomming, and we played the story encounter where the attacker's leader starts imprisoned in a cell. We flipped to see who got to pick attack/defend, and I thought I'd be clever and defend, positioning my Trapper at the start to easily tag Sybelle for the 4 VP. This plan didn't go as expected, though I was able to eventually score it. I don't recall what schemes my opponent chose, but I scored 3 each on Bodyguard (Strongarm) and Plant Explosives. The game ended after turn 5 with a score of 10-9. I cheated post-game flips to ensure my Trapper suffered no impairments and open up Arcane Somethingorother on the campaign upgrades list. I bought this upgrade and put it on the Librarian, bringing her Ca to a whopping 7. I'll have plenty of scrip left to hire Sue, whom I wanted to be my first hire. After that hire, I'm sitting on 4 scrip. I suspect I may buy Oathkeeper, too. I completely missed how the 10T vs. Guild game went. It seems as though bfdhud may be that 10T player, so maybe he could fill me in here. I only managed to get one picture. This is near the end of the game. Sybelle is hiding way back in the corner of her deployment zone. I tried to kill her to deny the VP, but just couldn't pull it off. Sybelle getting chased
  5. We had a last minute cancellation from the Resser player, so tonight I got in a couple standard games instead. 50ss vs. a Guild player who has seemed to be determined every time we've played to try and kill my models instead of scoring VPs. I don't remember the score, but it was something like 9-0 Outcasts when she conceded. It's graduation season and she was rushed to get to a party, which may have affected the outcome somewhat. Second game was 35ss vs. 10T, who brought Brewmaster. He misread how his master worked (max -3 WP, and we played no max penalty), so for most of the game, Von Schill was tarpitted in melee with approximately eleventy million poison counters and 0 WP (again, he didn't realize this was wrong until the last turn). I somehow still managed to win 6-5 when he called it after 4 turns. He was a champ for sticking through some possible mild food poisoning. By chance, I happened to eat at the same taco joint for dinner after work. My iron stomach prevailed, while he is likely shedding his intestinal lining at home as I type this on my phone. I'll go ahead and chalk that up to a 3rd win for the evening. I got a few pics of the 10T game. I've been wrestling with uploading on Imgur without an account, but I'll try to post them.
  6. Leveticus box arrived yesterday. I had thrown out an old, dull x-acto blade, thinking, "Oh, I definitely know where my extras are." Nope. I sure didn't, it turns out. So I have to proxy Alyce (Von Schill) and Abominations (Freikorpsmenn) tonight. Boo to that. Also, I swapped out Lazarus for the Strongarm. More versatility. Also, I think I'll be seeing 10T Kang, which could be nasty for ol' Lazzy. I'll still get some pics, but yeah, they're going to look kind of dumb with my proxies. Oh well.
  7. I can see going either way with Lazarus or Strongarm. Lazarus is pretty near and dear to my heart, though. And that self-heal in addition to already having a Librarian in the list makes me such a happy boy. I guess the idea is to have the Trapper handle the scheming while the other three form a triangle of death and attrition led by Lazarus. I'll try to keep this thread updated. I'll get some pics of tomorrow's games and update how my crew is doing as we go!
  8. My starting list: - - - - - - - - - - Rusty Alyce w/ From the Aether Librarian Trapper Lazarus - - - - - - - - - - I have access to Von Schill, the Viks, and Leveticus. Hamelin may also be in the mix soon. Assuming if I use Hamelin it'd be the obey-focused (not rat machine) kind of Hammy, do you think this list has the potential to build into any of the masters I have? I'm not sure which master I'll want to eventually use, but I know by one way or another, I want Alyce eventually summoning an Abomination every turn.
  9. I tend to not take a 10-point model at 35ss, favoring more activations instead. I basically just play the VS box at this level. And at 50ss, it's usually Hannah + Lazarus or Hannah + Strongarm. Hannah gives so much utility. As a matter of personal taste, I prefer to not take a second sniper. There are some upgrades that are really good with VS, as mentioned. Don't forget to tweak your picks based on what's going on in your specific game, who your opponent is, etc. I'll add that the Specialist doesn't get a lot of love, but I think you should get to know him. You might find a reason to bring him along now and then.
  10. As a new player, I'm excited to try him out. He's got so much more character than the Trapper. Heck, I'll probably go for the Hans super one-turn snipinglol show a couple times just for kicks. And later on down the road, when I and the other players in my fledgling meta have all improved, maybe that psychological factor would come into play. I don't know. Seems like it boils down to: the Trapper does more for its cost than Hans, but Hans is a fun model though by no means ineffective.
  11. Hey, everyone. Started playing Malifaux a couple months ago with a friend. We play in the back room of a place where folks gather to play M:tG, and after seeing us play a few times, our little meta has grown to 6 players! I picked Outcasts as my faction, and have been having a great time. Malifaux is not only the best miniatures wargame I've played, it's one of the best tabletop games I've played. And I've played a LOT of tabletop games! Started out with Von Schill for aesthetic reasons as well as his reputation for being a fairly straightforward master to play with. After I finish painting Hannah, I'll post pics in the appropriate forum here, and I will officially have a full Freikorps crew. I have been trying to stay away from the typical drab browns and have gone with a somewhat weird color scheme of blue, yellow, and army green. After that, it's on to the Viks and the models that support her crew box. Thinking about my potential 3rd master gives me anxiety. They're all way too cool (though I'm not too fond of Misaki).
