  1. While the game as a whole is more or less made for 50 SS, I too find that games like that can drag on a bit. Cutting down on Soulstones does hamper what you can do crew wise, what Schemes are doable, etc., and that is the biggest issue I have with playing smaller games. It makes it difficult to build a crew you really like. Time wise though, it's great. In my group we often max out at 40, to avoid "fatiguing" during play and the game dragging on for too long.
  2. I've only played him twice, but had a blast both times. He's a fun Master, and I love the theme of silly piggies running around (also, for me at least, a lot quicker and easier to paint than Gremlins, meaning I finished the Crew really quickly). Both games I brought one War Pig along at the start, and Summoned just one later on. While two games isn't much to go on, of course, I feel two War Pigs are enough. With the new boxes though, you'll get three, so maybe that not much of an issue.
  3. I've just been using my Bayou Gremlins as stand-ins for them. I haven't used those since 3rd came out, so it hasn't been an issue as far as confusing which is which. I only play casual games though. It might be a bit of an issue at tournaments.
  4. I'll look into that! Also probably getting Exorcists and Lone Marshal down the road. And should probably get around to putting together my Scales of Justice too.
  5. Just because I'm a little bored and stuck at home with this virus thing happening, I thought I'd show off my Lady Justice crew. I haven't played her in forever, so I just might have to add a bit more to her crew before I venture into games with her.
  6. You just made me want to have a thorough look at Johan's card, and if good with Zipp, into converting Johan into a huge Gremlin (sort of like Lenny)
  7. I played Ulix a couple of times in the beta. He was a blast! I only really tried bringing Penelope, a Slop Hauler and a Rooster Rider (gotta keep it farm animals, right?) that weren't pigs. Granted, I've still only played him a few times, but fielding almost exclusively piggies worked really well. I'm a sucker for themes though, so if I could find a Pig model to cover a role a non-pig would, I would always go for the pink fellas. It's just a really silly and fun theme!
  8. Yeah, some sort of explorer, Egyptologist, Lewis and Clark, archaeologist, big game hunter type thing. And I baaaaadly want some sort of maritime, navigation type crew too. (Not that I really need to fall in love with anymore Malifaux; I already have way too much I don't play with enough)
  9. For someone like Ramos who can summon stuff - and other like him - I can see the use of more than two, but mostly three+ seems like it's overdoing things. I'd rather spend the extra Soulstones on something else. Making for more and diverse options during the game. Apart from Bayou Gremlins and Ramos' Spiders I've never had more than two of something myself.
  10. Hi! I just bought the Ramos-box, and like everyone else the idea of getting the Brass Arachnid onto a 30 mm base seems daunting. I've been thinking about using a Steam Arachnid with slight conversions to act as a brass one instead (and paint to up to be brass instead of silvery-metal). Have any of you guys done conversions or alternates of the Brass Arachnid? I would love to see!
  11. I either highlight them up with thin strokes or do a light drybrush, and then only do the thin line high lighting on the edges of the pants, on knees and such. Depending on the color I'll either do a (shading) wash before or after the drybrushing. It all depends on the miniature though. I haven't painted the Bushwacker, so I can't really tell what I'd do for it, but unless it's a centrepiece type miniature, I would go with the easiest, and do the drybrushing. It can be a bit rough, but that's where the wash helps. And if you do several light drybrushes, going slightly lighter every time one can hardly tell. You posted this a while back, so hopefully you've already figured something out, but I figured I'd add a response anyway.
  12. I had the exact same issue with the Wendigo mini. It took me a while to figure out what to do, and it wasn't until after converting it, I started using it in games. I chopped off the Guild guy's thigh, shaved it a bit, and attached a branch from a Citadel Wood I had. Then a bit of green stuff to even things out, and to sculpt the missing hand. It's hardly the best sculpted hand ever (it's a bit on the big side), but it works fine.
  13. Mine are a bright, vivid green - the old Scorpion Green from the GW range (I forget what the newer name is). They're based with Scorpion Green, then washed with the Biel-Tan shade, then layered up with Scorpion Green, and highlighted with a 50/50 mix of Bleached Bone and Scorpion Green. Lastly a final highlight with Bleached Bone. Here's my Survivor conversion:
  14. I got the Hoffman crew a while back too, and had the same dilemma. I'm still kind of in love with the idea of brass, but I decided on a dirty, rusty steel look. Mostly because I knew how it would look, it would stand apart from my dark brown bases, and it would be fast and easy to paint. I'm a slow painter, so that last part is a pretty important point for me. Not only because I'd like to finish stuff, but also because I've fallen into the 'get everything'-trap, and after having played Malifaux for only a couple of months, I now have this Hoffman Guild crew, a well-fleshed Rasputina crew, an Ophelia crew, and I also just bought a Shenlong crew too.
