  1. It's possible that Nekima might be based on the myth of the Succubus. Remember that in some cultures (particularly in the past), female sexuality scared the bejesus out of the ruling Patriarchy. It's oddly serendipitous that I noticed this topic tonight, as I've been painting a Nekima model. I've been teaching my wife the game and when I asked her which models she liked, she immediately picked out Nekima saying "She's sexy, strong and intimidating." I play as Guild*. My wife plays as Neverborn. This is Life! *Mainly Lucius, so don't hate me.
  2. Just piling on with my fan theory, as someone who has spent a great deal of time thinking about Lucius (Lucius and I becoming friends; walks along the beach; Lucius winning me a stuffed animal at a some sketchy carnival). Here goes: The Scribe is the former Lucius Gustavius FitzWilliam Mattheson. When the original Lucius came to Malifaux, he was quickly replaced by a mimic who, of course, was able to access his skills and memory. For the original Lucius' crimes in the Black Powder Wars, the mimic thought a fitting punishment would be for Lucius to serve out his days in a lackey role (remember; no one can ever actual remember meeting The Scribe). For me, the fascinating thing about Lucius, unlike every other character in Malifaux is that we know practically nothing about his past or his goals. I can tell you Hoffman's locker combination (11 left, 12 right, 13 left - you might want to change that Charlie) and that Zoraida is human, but became Neverborn. Also that she crossed the Breach before the other humans and that she shoppes at the Whole foods on 10th & South Streets, but what to we know about Lucius other than that he wears a mask, likes to dance, and appears as a bunch of squiggles if drawn. It would appear that the good folks at Wyrd based their (our?) Lucius on Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus (c. 519–430 BCE) who, after serving in the Roman Senate, retired to his farm, then was placed back into office - with dictatorial powers - during an invasion. After the invasion was repelled, Roman Lucius relinquished all power and went back to his farm. Make of that what you will.
  3. Stepping in here as someone who is obsessed with Lucius, let me just say....
  4. I'm sure someone has already posted this (in which case, please allow me to reiterate): Add a Guardian and, if you can, a hunter or two.
  5. If someone were to toss in in a Witchling Stalker (something would have to go, obviously), they would work nicely with the nurses.
  6. I went with the Lawyer because he can hand out poison. Agree that McMourning & Grimswell have a great synergy that may have been born in the fluff.
  7. - Secret Assets (1) Captain Dashel (9) Guardian (8) Hunter (7) Guild Rifleman (5) Guild Guild Guard (5)
  8. Wish I'd spotted this before I posted pretty much the same list.
  9. McMourning (who didn't see THAT coming) - Plastic Surgery (1) - On The Clock (1) Dr. Grimwell (The doctor is IN...sane!) (9) - Research Grant (1) Nurse Heartsbane (8) Nurse (5) Nurse (5) Orderly (5) Orderly (5) Guild Lawyer (6) Guild Guard (4) Yes, it's a medical theme crew (with two minor exceptions), but it's a fun theme crew.
  10. First, let me say Welcome to The Guild. Second: good choice with "The Guild's Judgement" boxed set . Third: Read everything you can - including as much of the Guild forum as possible, before dropping any more cash. All of the best advice I've gotten has come from this forum (except for the advice I got about how to save money on bottled water while visiting London. DO NOT drink from the Thames). PS. Since you have the starter set, enjoy Grimwell. He'll come in very handy no matter which crew you add him to.
  11. "Are Rilfemen still good without Captain Dashel? Do people run them as threes or just a pair?" In my experience, they're not really that good without him. I tend to send the Captain out with 2 riflemen and a Guardian as a "core unit" Also, if you play to have fun, you'll be less likely to think of yourself as a "losing" player
  12. Although my answer for just about everything is "Lucius" (I believe he was even spotted behind the grassy knoll ); I think many of those models would nicely buff a Nellie crew.
  13. 39 was another great one. Makes me want to pick up an Iggy model.
  14. The Self-Righteous Man has Guild written all over him (I'm also just going to assume that he's from Philadelphia). I'm probably the newest to all of this, but he seem our best bet.
  15. To me, the guy looks like somebody's wealthy father (McCabe's, primarily) who came through the breach to check up on their offspring. As the Guild sort of sees itself as the adult in the room, he should be Guild.
