There’s been a debate in my playgroup on the rules for how Shadow interacts with LoS for cases where there is intervening terrain with a model its height and a model taller than it. A Sz2 Death Marshal shooting over a Height 1 wall at a Sz 1 Bayou Gremlin, for example. We had been playing as if the wall is ignored as per the Line of Sight and Size rules on page 17. We’ve just noticed that the Shadow rules on page 18 contain a paragraph saying that the LoS and Size rules are ignored if the smaller model is in the terrains shadow. (Meaning we’ve all been playing this wrong for literally years, if this is indeed the correct reading!) the example on page 19 is adding to our confusion, as the final paragraph (where the guild hound is Sz 4) has the terrain giving cover rather than blocking LoS. I’d like to please check that I have this correct: - a Sz 2 model shooting at a Sz 1 model over a Height 1 wall with neither in the wall’s shadow can see the model fine, and be seen in return. - a Sz 2 model shooting at a Sz 1 model that is inside 1” of the Height 1 wall cannot draw LoS Sz1 model and therefore cannot shoot it. The Sz1 model equally cannot shoot the Sz 2 model. This is true whether or not the Sz 2 model is also in the shadow of the wall. - a Sz 2 model shooting at a Sz 1 model over a Height 1 wall where the Sz 2 model is within 1” of the wall and the Sz 1 model is not can see the Sz 1 model (and be seen by it). - in the example on page 19, if Parker was close enough to the Sz 3 terrain to be in its shadow, he would not be able to draw LoS to the Sz 4 hound and vice versa, whether or not the hound was also in the shadow.
