I believe it's just in reference to Scheme & Strat pools that work in favor of crews (Som'er, Jack Daw, Ironsides, etc) that prefer to stay bunched up due to abilities, auras, and whatnot, rather than spreading out across the board.

She's not my first 10T choice either, given her storyline of breaking free of her father's influence and replacing him as faction head. Here's hoping Malifaux Burns can really sell it.

The Burning Man is a brain-blasting eldritch horror; simply being anywhere near Him can be enough to induce mental and/or physical changes in those sensitive to the impact TBM has on reality. There's no need to be fire themed or have a specific personality - His contamination simply needs a crack to seep through. Just reading a book penned by the head cultist was enough to permanently alter Maxine's mind and leave her vulnerable to what was to come. The Hungering Darkness isn't a Tyrant, btw.
