  1. After the Nythera event, there was a discussion with guesses about Oberon.
  2. Found Tuco! He’s got the right of it though, totem focus can be spent later on defense if necessary, or maybe for fishing for cards for an obey. That ‘free’ focus has been useful to me on other totems...who don’t have a TN to hit, but are looking for a suit (crow), which has better odds.
  3. That would be someone who played Hoffman yet not any iconic Guild list...there aren’t many of us! (And we are raising an eyebrow at the complaints over having to buy the First Mate out of faction, having done the same to acquire Joss—arachnids were a bit of an afterthought in most lists.)
  4. It’s a problem common to both Guild and Arcanists: they are factions less fantastical than plausible, so because they can inspire real-world levels of attachment to an organization they can also attract earnest real-world hatred of a real-world organization. (Thunders and Outcasts may also be human for the most part, but the lack of a faction organization is what I think stops their opposition from having such real-world weight mixed into it. All that ‘crime syndicate’ guff is tied to Misaki, not the faction as a whole, unlike having the M2e keyword M&SU scattered across a faction and a quarter.)
  5. That I did. Didn’t anticipate it, but with at least two sources of crowd control (emissary and riotbreaker) any crew which loves to attack out of activation, not just classic obey crews, is suddenly unhappy. It hurt the Viks especially since they were trying to feed one another melee attacks and were stuck in overlapping auras. (In games since then, they more often handed off attacks to Vanessa who could use them from range. Be wary of her.)
  6. I tried swapping in the effigy for the ‘Leveticus farms stones’ variant, and while he did rake in four in two turns (one of whom was Dashel himself), there were times when I would desperately have wanted those 4ss running schemes instead. Maybe if it hadn’t been corner deployment with a bloodless turn 1, the desired outcome would have been more in the favor of more stones.
  7. ...where’s a horrified react when you need one? I know M3e flattened several discrepancies, but my goodness—is it just the edition change? Or have your opponents grown?
  8. I don’t want more riders (they’re expensive sprues!) but darn if Foggy Rider isn’t the most evocative name possible...
  9. @Nagi21 oh no, we know there’s a gap between his skill and that of the rest of our meta, that’s not in question. This is a meta that is hostile to ranged crews all around. Who will you fight against? The nephilim who close the distance on turn 1? McCabe or Misaki, and all of the upgraded ‘ride with me’, arriving in melee even sooner? Leveticus (and soon Zipp) upgrading with the Herald push and putting an annoying aura directly in your face? SONNIA (soon to come with clockwork traps)?!? Also, we aren’t hitting Nekima because Hayreddin and that bloody ‘constant passive healing’ aura has to die before we can kill anything, as it heals more than the damage dealt, potentially, to a stone user—exceptions made for the 10T who could just bite you with a jorogumo and turn off healing.
  10. There are loads of Neverborn and NB-adjacent models which enjoy having an automatic mask on their attacks. Changelings can copy masters’ tactical actions. Have fun. The moment we realized that Hayreddin declaring Necrotic Decay trigger for self-damage also tacked on 1 extra non-stacking black blood damage was not a happy one for me as the opponent. Min 4+1 is nasty.
  11. You’re one of the Marlena people! (We all seem to play a fixed list Leveticus, but none of said lists are the same.) Did you hide her just for tanking, or use her other facets?
  12. Bitch, please. It is always throne time. —Avatar Nicodem
  13. McTavish is looking a little more aware of the outside world these days. Whatever happened to Lil’ Boo?
  14. Three games yesterday, unfortunately as Arcanist as I spazzed during faction declaration, but there was one take-away still relevant to GuildHoff: if there is a time when it’s worthwhile to lose the Transfer Power push and expend a suited 8, it’s when Joss is ordering Miss Kore to charge, power up, and run-and-gun. Ten stones to support eight isn’t a cost when ten is also hitting crow triggers on his axe like it’s going out of style (the best one touching Yasunori, a high river monk, and Shenlong who had to spend his last chi dodging the stunned at least). Guild can take comfort in one thing in dual-master settings: had I declared Guild, I could have taken Lady Justice also and negated the setup which led to McMourning and Von Schtook pairing up to delete one of my models with pseudo-expunge. Condition removal isn’t usually available between any two given activations, and both attacks to arm and explode the bomb are stat 7. Be wary. I did notice that the higher terrain coverage tables were counter-indicative to hiring multiple 50mm bases, more like my first meta than what I’ve become accustomed to here.
  15. There was a brief moment in testing where Vengeance +2 existed. It went poorly for the opponent, particularly with the no setup which Vengeance requires. While there is still scope to make a Vengeance +2 model later, I wouldn’t expect it any time soon: a two-wound passive penalty for every attack quickly became an oppressive resource drain even when there was setup involved.
  16. ...just changing the naming scheme that little bit is a thoughtful addition, thank you! I think Gaining Grounds is the last Malifaux item which has had an M2e version and needs the differentiation. (That and Henchman Hardcore, which is part of GG...boy did that change.)
  17. “We make a great team, don’t we?” —Nellie ”No Comment, Miss Cochrane.” —every other Guild master.
  18. I’m a bit off of Vendetta with Guild tools at the moment. We have lots of interesting denial tech, but the kinds of denial that would help most for securing the second point—‘no heals’ or ‘no auras’ upon the target—aren’t available to us. Likewise, I’m quite in love with extremely mobile models for Vendetta, to run and hide after scoring its first point so that it may live for the second point, and, well, Guild. On top of that, Hoffman just has so many tasty 10ss options that I’m often flat incapable of choosing Vendetta.
  19. The lilitu are meant to play a game most nephilim don’t play—isolate something and lock it down with 2” engagement range. I’ve only ever seen one used well to hold an idol marker against a cheap scheme runner that suddenly couldn’t do its job. She was much better defending that area than she was controlling an enemy model.
  20. No. Thus the ‘wholly unearned’ part. *celebration continues*
  21. What’s a class of enemy that has low Wp but is traditionally difficult to remove by quickly killing it?...and tends to be in crews with lower model count?... I haven’t buried much, other than those mannequins, but do need to remember that it’s a way to reposition models into engagement (unless effigy did the burying) and hazardous terrain at the same time.
  22. Too master-dependent for me at the moment. I haven’t varied my Leveticus list except when I overran the proxy limit (tournament situation, two proxies max per crew to allow missing totems and other unreleased models, not just ‘I hate the true sculpt’). I have rarely brought the same Hoffman list twice. Nellie’s list is flexible. Zipp’s won’t be. Etc.
