Not sure we're looking at the same book. The stories are, for lack of a better word, stupid. The characters have become caricatures of themselves. Joking about Lady J's love life? Perdita throwing a tantrum? A FLIRTING HOFFMAN? The characters used to have nuance and depth. Now it's like they're in a Friends re-boot.

Yeah, you're right. I suppose I could make it to those tournaments. I'm sure my wife (the one needing constant medical care), or Benshin's kid could definitely be left alone for a few hours. It's really my fault for not having the time.

Perfectly reasonable. And also way too many hoops for me to go through to spend money. Again, I get what Wyrd is trying to do. But now instead of spending $60 (which is about what I'd pay for that Pandora model, maybe a bit more) with Wyrd I'm gonna take it and buy a box or two of Infinity models, or a decent bottle of bourbon. Both [insert online retailer and/or my FLGS] and the liquor store a block from my office make it incredibly easy for me to part with my money.

Maybe not from buying the model. But they still get your money from going to the tournament. From that box set you buy when you're there. From the arsenal deck you buy as an impulse by being in the store.

Except it's not. They're getting yours whether it's tournament exclusive or on general sale. They're only getting mine if it's on general sale.

Right, I get that. But then my money is not going to Wyrd. If I'm Wyrd, I'd be annoyed that money I could be getting is going to someone else. They're losing a potential revenue stream. Or, as the case may be, I keep my money or spend it on another game. Which is really the worst case scenario for Wyrd. They should be trying to get as much as they can out of my wallet. By going this route they're definitely not. These are cool models but Wyrd isn't getting a single cent from me or others for this.

So the person who works weekends (Kronus), or the single parent (Ruroni), or the one who's spouse needs more or less around-the-clock medical care (me) should be punished because you are getting tired of playing the same people? Like I said, time for some introspection.

Curious - would this being on direct sale, even for a limited time, impact your tournament experience? If so, I'd suggest some serious introspection. Because if it is the case, you are getting your kicks not from a tournament or event, but from lording something over other people. Not from playing the game, or painting the minis. Some people have kids. Some people have work. Some people don't like to go to organized events. Them having access to these miniatures should in no way impact your access to these miniatures, or your enjoyment of organized events.

I see the Monday Preview concept has been changed to be the place where Wyrd makes announcements. Maybe they think we're too stupid to realize what "preview" means. Wyrd can't even claim this is a preview of something they're going to do as it's already been done. Color me disappointed.

This is what passes for a preview these days? A picture of a box, with smaller boxes inside it?

I looked into Lucius and Indiana Jon... er, McCabe, but they seem a bit too complicated for me currently. Right now I'm trying to get the basics in. I really appreciate the tips though!

I've heard Austringers are "stupidly good." I do love the executioner models, so those may be where I'm headed. Thanks for the tips!

So I have a newb question - what to buy? I'm sure Wyrd would like me to buy "all the things," and I may get to that point eventually, but let's take this in baby steps. Currently I have the M2E core book and the Dita/Justice box sets. What models are good expansions? Also, are the supplemental books worth getting? Sorry for the simplistic questions, and thanks for any advice up front!

Hey guys! New(ish) player in the greater DC area. Have come over from WHFB because of the AoS debacle. Just picked up some Guild models, but am also eyeing up those wonderfully creepy Ressers.
