  1. Actually if some how you did get the ability to summon 4 spiders they would survive as the damage from Summon the Swarm may be reduced so they would each take 3 after armor and be alive at 1 wound.
  2. I've only played the Vicks once, it was with Raspy and company. He avoided Rasputina directly because of Sub-Zero, Snowstorm's explosive demise ensured a revenge kill, and the blessed completely cleaned up. However he was new to outcasts and lacking in model pool and experience. So seconding Raspy as a good counter.
  3. Welcome back. The sight below does the official print on demand for Wyrd now witch is why all the arsenal decks are sold out. They can sell the arsenal packs or single cards though the singles require a minimum of ten cards before you can order. I've used them to get cards for some old 1st ed metals I got a hold of. http://www.wargamevault.com/
  4. So the important restriction on Blade and Claw is non-leader non-peon for the targets. It targets a beast and a construct, so while the holder can target themselves it could also be a third part targeting the two for maximum total distance, as described by OctaBit. Looks like I'm adding this upgrade and a Malifaux Raptor to my Ramos list to make Langston a beast give him the ability to swap with spiders.
  5. I believe the write up got it wrong, what I saw says 'kill target friendly gamin' so it would trigger them to explode and drop markers. An important distinction to be sure.
  6. My Ice golem has seen little play since I got snowstorm and the blessed of December, but they mostly just fit my play style better. There are times I'd rather have the golem than the blessed. He hits hard gives out slow and his armor help if Raspy hits him in combat to get blasts on the enemy models. Just off the top of my head.
  7. One thing I disagree with is that the academic upgrade is not that great. Oxfordian mages are already very good with Sandeep combine getting a card back when you flurry and the (0) place effect to lay down some hurt. And if Sandeep didn't activate Arcane Shield should prevent the damage to himself. Combine with the new upgrade to make them cheaper and I may well take three in almost every Sandeep crew. Edit: So it's still pretty good but Sandeep needs to activate and use a one action to let him get the card back, tough it does last until his next activation. So you pop the card draw turn one and then if you furious cast/flurry with an academic turn two Sandeep will have arcane shield up to stop the ping to himself. No range or line of sight on this ether.
  8. I've been waiting and it's great to hear about Sandeep. It's too bad about Kudra being underwhelming.
  9. They merit compression as hard hitting beasts with the Three Headed ability, but from there are quite different. Sweet, just heard about this upgrade and look forward to using it. That is dirty. My Collette crew is doing this now. "For my next trick..." Thank you all for the input so far. Definitely fielding the RN once I get it painted.
  10. Yes the upgrades are split three per limited. They don't talk about the other upgrades or Kudra but I'm keeping a lookout for more info.
  11. Ya the only thing that wasn't too clear is if Banasuva also needs to attach one of those upgrades, I sounded like it does. and those are some big drawbacks. I'm hoping that Banasuva is also a minion, witch is never mentioned, so he can take Sandeep's placement action and still move if he take one of the Earth upgrades. For the record this is the stats for our big flaming friend as per that podcast Df Wp Wd Wk Cg Ht 5 4 8 5 7 3 ________ABILITIES________ Flaming Demise, Melee Expert This model may not be hired. When this model is summoned sacrifice it unless another friendly gamin within 2 takes two damage that may not be reduced, then sacrifice all other friendly totems ATTACK ACTIONS________________ (1) The Thousand Arms of Justice (MI 6 / Rst: DF / Rg: 2): Target suffers 3/4/5 "With a couple of useful damaging triggers" TACTICAL ACTIONS______________ (1) Toss: Like the Ice Golem (0) target a friendly gamin within 8, select an ability or action printed on the target's car that this model does not already have. This model gains the chosen action or ability until the end of turn
  12. That's one thing they don't go into mostly just saying that they are a little better than the other gamin so Sandeep has one more option than 4pt dudes and the 8pt Banasuva. They mention a few of the gamin upgrades Sandeep gives out and I've seen them elsewhere. There are three "Commands" and three "Visions" Commands in Earth - Model may not be moved or pushed / +1Rg , +3Rg Commands in Fire - Model may not cheat fate / Model is immune to slow Commands in Wind - Model may not attack / Other models in 3 get to attacks Visions in Earth - Model may not be moved or pushed / Constant Yammering 6 like on Zipp's card Visions in Fire - Model may not cheat fate / May interact while engaged Visions in Wind - Model may not attack / May interact the turn it is summoned
  13. Also surprised by how little I've heard for Arcanists even on anonymous image boards. However this podcast has a summary of all the new box sets and a little more. http://mf2e.com/archive/mf2e_3.mp3 Sandeep's summoning comes with special upgrades, three per limited, Banasuva is an 8 point gamin and a badass that can only be brought in by summoning it. Sandeep is also limited to only having three of his summons out at one time. Poison gamin are 5pt models, and no info on Kudra.
  14. So when playing Marcus what are your experiences with the Rogue Necromancy? It draws an obvious comparison to the Cerberus so how often do you take one over the other? The loss of leap and unimpeded to gain a shooting attack, smell fear, and impossible to wound is interesting, thinking about the RN and some Shikome would play well off each other.
  15. And Warding Runes, especially with all the synergy Sandeep already has with Oxfordian Mages. Me and a friend actually recorded a discussion about Sandeep for his youtube channel if anybody wants to listen to us chatter. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPpN46RhsHc I made one big mistake, forgetting that Sandeep's 'Student of All' ability can only be used once per turn for a max of one extra action.
  16. Well if it's true that Mr. Ice Cream is part of Molly's lot then it does fit her more off the wall theme. And it's a good point about the mini, there are a lot of hulking beasts out there so I for one am glad that Wyrd has set this one apart by giving it a nice frozen treat. The fact that it would be easy to convert into just about anything else a tentacle could hold is just gravy.
  17. This is tough, each master has a totem that fits them well and between the Essence of Power, Arcane Effigy, and Mobile Tool Kit there is a lot of ground covered by cheep utility pieces. So how about something like this: Timmy, the orphan and M&SU mascot COST 3 Peon, Living, Totem, M&SU Df Wp Wd Wk Cg Ht 4 4 4 4 - 1 ________ABILITIES________ Insignificant, Manipulative x Just a child: If this model takes only walk actions it does not count as having activated for the purposes of Manipulative. If he can fight so can we!: Minions and M&SU models within 4 have Hard to Kill ATTACK ACTIONS________________ (1) Rocks (MI 3 / Rst: DF / Rg: 6 or 1): Target suffers 0/1/2 TACTICAL ACTIONS______________ (2) Union Song (Ca 5 / TN: 15 / Rg 6): This ability must declare triggers if able. Which side are you on?: Friendly Minions and M&SU models in range receive to Wp duels Will you be a lousy scab: Friendly Minions and M&SU models in range receive to Attack flips Or will you be a man?: Friendly Minions and M&SU models in range receive to Damage flips Workers can you stand it: Friendly Minions and M&SU models in range receive to Df duels Something like this, there's plenty of room for tweaking from here. I was thinking of something I'd want to take in a henchman led game and like the idea of a scrappy boy who inspires others.
  18. With Rasputina I regularly take Snowstorm and The Blessed, ether of witch could be replaced with the Ice Golem or Arcane Emissary. I wouldn't take more than two of those in most cases. The Wendigo is great, a cheep significant minion who can support Rasputina by devouring something she paralyzes with freeze over. I've not used the Essence of Power much but it clearly works well with her casting focus. There is nothing wrong with taking all three Ice Gamin, They are cheep minions that can pad out your activations give you more ice mirrors and even boost damage for frozen heart models. Same for taking both Silent ones, it's the December Acolytes that start getting expensive to take more than one or two in an already elite list. My list might be Rasputina -December's Pawn, Shattered heart, Seize the Day (6) Wendigo or Essence (3) Snow Storm (11) Blessed of December (9) 2x Ice Gamin (8) 2x Silent Ones (12) One stone left over for a Cache of 4 This gives you plenty of models to play the activation game while having some hard hitting stuff. Cache is a bit low but could be increased by grabbing a cheaper upgrade than Shattered heart. Might swap a Silent One for an Acolyte or grab more upgrades for Snow Storm and the blessed if show of force is in the scheme pool. Just don't get stuck on one list, make sure to adapt it to each match, but this is a base all around list that I've used to great effect.
  19. I don't realy see the problem. Marcus has two limited upgrades that are very similar with small changes to his game play, like how Sandeep's will have some effect on his melee and his summoning. Having a second master that doesn't rely on the Mech Rider for summoning isn't a bad thing. And as you pointed out all Arcanist summoning is of fairly small models, if you want to summon more powerful things you've got to grab Rezers or a small number of other masters. And why do you feel that Sandeep must focus on summoning? Sandeep brings more than just summoning, strong casting and tactical actions, what looks like a strong melee after his upgrades, giving those summoned models access to better attacks with beacon. To me the summoning seems like a great extra, not a focus or a theme. And we don't even know all of his unique tricks are with summoning. As far as gamin not being an interesting theme, that's for everyone to decide themselves. I like the four elements (plus poison I guess?) coming together in one crew. It's not just fire or ice, it's the whole spectrum. Admittedly I'm more excited about bringing in Academics to support him and make Oxfordian mages more flexible.
  20. "Miss Cochrane, it doesn't matter what you or those lawyers say the Union is well within it's rights to be here. If you do not leave we will be taking this to court" Howard Langston and a peacekeeper are duking it out behind them as they carry on. Another day in Malifaux.
  21. Orian are great, I often take one though I can't imagine taking two. I think they draw comparison to Performers who have a higher melee stat, higher damage track, add more poison, and those great triggers on Sirens Call; all at one less soulstone after the merc tax. However the Orian brings an aura of +1 WP, the No Witnesses trigger as mentioned above and a proper 18" lure. The Lure is the second reason people might not like Orian, it's casting 8 but needs a crowto go off and has no triggers. So you can reliably cheat one maybe two good lures, but Cassandra can copy it with understudy and stone for the crow if you absolutely need it to go off. Then once the enemy is close enough from your 18" lure(s) use the 12" Siren's Call to get them the rest of the way in to gang up on them with the rest of your showgirls. I've killed/wounded a few snipers who thought they were safe on a roof about 20" from my girls, a walk and a lure with the 13 of crows proved them wrong with a fall for 3-6 damage.
  22. Breaking down what your thinking of getting out side of masters Raspy box: Ice Golem- hard hitting melee for anyone but synergizes best with Frozen Heart Ice Gamin- Decent cheep all around minion again extra Frozen Heart synergy, rather slow December Acolyte- Arcanist staple cant go wrong in any list Silent Ones- Also amazing, one of few models that can heal anyone and they can cast into combat without randomizing so Ironsides likes them. Lots of extra Frozen Heart synergy but good with any master Ironsides box: The Captain- you need to be careful to understand this guy to get 10-13ss out of him but he is brilliant in a raspy crew to help push your slow crew into place early on then switch moving the enemy or smashing them with a hammer. Oxfordian Mages- Hard hitting spell casters not much synergy with Raspy Honestly while Ironsides will be a little short in this deal you can toss in Willie next and she'll be solid. The only thing you lack is a quick scheme runner but if you grab Ice dancers your set there. Like people have said the Ramos Box is also a solid buy for lots of reasons, good master and all around useful models to boot, but you can make that your third box if you want to wait. He was something like my fifth master for Arcanists.
  23. From his description on his page the limited upgrades are his Gamin summoning upgrades. "He has two Limited Upgrades: To Behold Another World and To Command Another Plane, both of which allow him to enhance his Gada Attack [...] Both Limited Upgrades also allow him to summon Gamin, but which Upgrade you choose will come with different benefits and drawbacks for the summoned Gamin" So you then have two slots for his other upgrade (Unaligned Sage) and general upgrades.
