  1. There has been some recent discussion on crossing the metas at large together for a world spanning competition, and it has come to my attention that in addition to regional variance on what is considered strong, there is also regional variance on what is considered a normal game of Malifaux, so I wanted to get a grasp of what ruleset the average malifaux player is playing under. Additionally, while there isn't a poll question for this, what are your thoughts on playing by another set of rules? Would you absolutely refuse to play any other way? Do you find the forbidden fruits interesting but never had the chance? And uh, whatever your response is and opinion is of other player's responses, please keep things excellent between everyone ❤️
  2. So I'll summarize my beliefs about the game and how it went: The main problem is that I prepped for a fight hoping that I could summon my scheme runners and that the Dead Rider could shore up whatever gaps I have in scheme running needs. With the Rider dead turn 1 due to getting swapped into the Colette crew and both of my summoned Necropunks over the course of the game getting slain, I didn't have anything left fast enough to score my points. In retrospect, I should have picked Leave your Mark instead of breakthrough (I had envisioned killing the Silent One turn 2 with the Valedictorian which would have gotten a recruitment Drive marker for the first point) because Anna spent most of the game in the center of the map just kinda chilling. Additionally, even with a mecharachnid on the loose, Necropunks of sufficient number (and with Grave Spirit's Touch) should have been able to weather the storm and go get the symbols, and I instead opted for my comfort pick elite crew, and that cost me. I took the Student of Steel expecting more Coryphee because those are common choices for Colette players locally, so when the only armored model worth spitting at just stayed away from the fight for the majority of the game, that didn't really matter either. Basically I should have just front loaded scheme running potential at crew select, taken out the counterpick arachnid with the Vally since Schtook should hire her regardless of context, and then just ran points with his best-in-class scheme runners. At that point, Colette being annoying doesn't really matter, and you just have to pick somewhere to remove 1 point from his scoring potential and call it a day. Since Colette is commonly the only Don't Mind Me model in her crew (because you hire Colette, Coryphee, and then go versatiles, apparently) just camping your Symbols should be an effective counter-pick if you can keep her away from the Symbols even for a single turn.
  3. I really like that dress design though. Maybe I can figure out how to just glue her head to her body....
  4. Honestly I might have done better in this matchup to pick her But it's okay, I'll take her next time, I just had to break out Schtook into someone who was 'at their height of power', so Colette in Symbols, to see if he truly is undefeatable.
  5. My favorite is when Toni Ironsides does "Bring it!" and spits out a tooth to Heal 2 and the vibe is "Oh yeah, you hit me but I'm tough", but that resolves before the attack the enemy takes happens... so, she spits out a tooth just randomly and then gets attacked afterwards.
  6. Aight, just so everyone's aware, it's Schtook vs Colette Symbols of Authority, standard deployment Breakthrough Take Prisoner Spread Them Out Claim Jump Runic Binding Crews: Schtook w/ Whisper Assistant Valedictorian w/ GST Dead Rider w/ GST Anna Lovelace Student of Steel 6 stones Colette Doves x 3 Silent One Soulstone Miner w/ Magical Training Mecharachnid w/ Soulstone Cache Mech Rider w/ Soulstone Cache Coryphee Duet 2 stones GET HYPED. 7. 10 in the morning CST time, 18:00 in Moscow time! The 19th!
  8. I suck at recording, don't know if @Plaag has any recording skills, but if someone just wants to drop in and record I'm down for that if he is.
  9. Good question. We uh, we didn't decide yet 🤪
  10. Frankly I feel like I'm more likely to win with Schtook, but either of my choices are masters that A: I am good at B: Have been disparaged in this thread My debate between the two is do I wanna represent my loyalty to God Empress Nekima, or defend my reputation as a strong player? Until I actually play someone, in my head they're always this strong, unstoppable player that I must absolutely try my hardest into, and Nekima is just not as strong as Schtook. Basically I'm deciding between kicking my self for either: Being a resser sellout Losing on Nekima when I might have won as Schtook Nightmare scenario I lose as Schtook, but I genuinely believe that's not a real possibility. The victory would be sweetest if I won on Nekima though... I'm thinking too much about this, is all I'm saying.
  11. Please don't nerf my girl any more! I'm still able to win with Nekima. And for everyone's information, I am playing a game against Plaag on the 19th if y'all care to hear about how that went. Do you want me to play Schtook or Nekima? I think Nekima is now more difficult for people to use correctly, myself included.
  12. Those aren't even in my top 3. I don't know what's going on in the in the Spanish meta, and I appreciate that y'all got revenge for the Spanish Armada at UK nationals, but none of those masters come even close to Schtook. I will play any Sandeep, Dashel, or Shen Long player with Schtook, and I will win at least 4 out of every 5 games.
  13. Hey, it's ya boi, Kharnage, back at it again with the God Empress Nekima. Good news to those of you who were dismayed when I faltered in my faith of Nekima; I have been restored to belief that she is actually still strong. Make no mistakes; Von Schtook is without a doubt the dumbest master in the game. If you want to farm easy wins and destroy morale, Von Schtook is the way to go. He has such a comically overtuned kit that I'm literally playing him to get him nerfed because apparently when I do well with a master they nerf them (RIP GG0 Nekima) But that being said, Nekima is still crazy scary to deal with if you know what you're doing with her. I would love to get a game in against your heralded champion Felix with my girl Nekima, I think it would be a gratifying game to play. Playing Nekima to her fullest requires a consummate understanding of when and where to go in, and how to leverage positioning to your advantage. While losing Butterfly Jump hurt, Scamper was a solid replacement, and now can work in the middle of her activation to cause more blade rush even into reach 2 foes. Additionally, the crew I used to run got retooled a bit since the Inhuman Reflexes nerf; Hayreddin doesn't use it well anymore. Instead, Ancient Pact on Hayreddin is my go to since Necrotic Decay + Black Joker = feels bad, and guaranteeing a quadruple pustule round is quite fulfilling. Dropping a mature for Serena w/ Ancient Pact, and giving my remaining Mature Inhuman Reflexes. While he technically "reduces the effectiveness" of Scamper because of Combat Finesse, there's still plenty of cheating that happens in a melee that he can take advantage of, and we gained some plink damage and mobility to boot. While this lost me some card draw in comparison with my infamous double Mature build, I gained a reliable targeted healer with some armor pen and condition removal, which were things I sorely longed for in my previous build. It also leaves me with 9 stones, which helps to serve the God Empress. If you're having problems with playing Nekima to victory and have as many games under your belt as you say, then... maybe her play style is not your thing? At the end of the day, she's hard to play because knowing what she can and cannot deal with is important. If that's not something you want to deal with, then a squishball beater isn't going to be for you.
  14. So is it possible to drag them around as long as they maintain base contact with the Belle?
  15. ... so like, why? Referencing the common phrase "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" to not attack the people who gives them Brilliance makes total sense. I'm not sure what the aim of this post is.
  16. Flight is a pretty big deal, a deal they're not in on, and also they're squishballs, even by Nephilim standards. Having great cards doesn't matter if I have to punch df 4 to watch Lilitu explode. If you're fighting a bunch of 1/2/3 or 2/3/4 tracks, it could work, but I've never seen anyone just try and tickle people to death.
  17. But to be super specific, it would be, get pushed, get pushed, done. THEN two generated actions, right?
  18. I played this interaction out this evening but wanted to confirm I played it correctly. Seamus's Ability: "Why Hello, Love": After an enemy model ends a move engaged by this model, if it is not the enemy model's Activation, this model may take a action targeting it. Shieldbearer's Shield Bash pushes a model 2 inches, then can separately Knock Aside a model for a 4 inch push. Can this be used to generate two free Seamus attacks? There's kind of a "wait till an action's finished resolving to resolve subsequent actions" philosophical approach in Malifaux, but also there are two separate pushes occurring and there's not an after resolving timing for Why Hello, Love, so I'm asking.
  19. Actually... for ensorcel, the disengage action declared no trigger, right? I'm pretty sure you can double onslaught, since you're obeying the victim, and the attacker is just taking attacks.
  20. So as per the rulebook, concerning control; "...When this happens, the controlling player makes all decisions for the model, including flipping cards, Cheating Fate, declaring Actions, and so on. If the controlled model Cheats Fate, the controlling player must do so from their own Control Hand. If the controlled model uses a Soulstone or discards a card, Pass Token, or other resource, the controlling player must discard the appropriate Soulstone, card, Pass Token, etc. If the controlled model would gain a resource (cards, Pass Token, etc.), the controlling player gains that resource. If a controlled Action generates additional Actions, the controlling player controls the generated Action, as well." I obey a henchman model to disengage from Hinamatsu. Hinamatsu hits, deals big damage (since I control both the attack and the defense flip, this should be easy) and the obeyed model is still under Zoraida's control at the point of damage. My question is this; can Zoraida now deliberately choose not to stone the damage, as that is a decision the model makes?
  21. My brain interpreted it as "You know, the grand philosophical question of Necrotic Decay" rather than thinking it was a specific FAQ entry. I even skipped right over the 1.7 you put in there. I have no excuse for how I missed it.
  22. Section 1, entry 7, had to go find it, but I accept this ruling.
  23. Unless the App's rulebook is missing something that it should have, under "damage" on page 24, "If a game effect references the amount of damage suffered, it is referring to the amount of damage suffered after damage reduction", which HtK is expressly NOT damage reduction.
  24. Sure, but remember that Hard to Kill expressly does not change the amount of damage suffered. Hayreddin, if he had Hard to Kill, and 2 HP, could choose to suffer 2 damage, and go down to 1 hp, still getting the +2 damage, by my estimation. EDIT: According to the irreducible damage FAQ, by my reading of it at least, if an irreducible damage attack of 4 damage came at a 2 health HTK model, the model is considered to have suffered 4 irreducible damage, so if they had Drink Blood on the attack or something, they would heal 4, despite only reducing the target's HP by a single point.
  25. Thread Necromancy! With the Errata in place such that according to their FAQ for irreducible damage "Hard to Kill prevents a model’s Health from being reduced and does not reduce damage.", meaning that Yasunori is considered to have suffered the full 48 damage, does this not mean that Yasunori can indeed draw your whole deck?
