  1. Thanks for easing my fears about Malifaux. Glad to hear nothing else is going to get too big. I think the reason the Emissary looks so strange is because hes humanoid and it looks weird next to standard sized models. The dragon for eample in that picture doesn't look that out of place.. I'm excited to see more from The Other Side.. but the scale kinda throws me into doubt.. When you have tiny models like those on the right, side by side with those like the giant ones in the back. If they were half the size I think it would be better. But being so big makes them seem like they're a different scale to the rest. It always looks strange on a table with scale terrain.
  2. Yeah. The scale setting really throws me off here. I'm generally not a fan of GIANT models alongside normal scale. Warhammer/40k wentdown this road and it just looks weird.
  3. So, I ran with; Pandora (The box opens), 3 Sorrows, Poltergeist, Candy (Depression), Widow Weaver (Handbag), Bloodwretch for all 3 games. As I wanted to try get a feel for it. Poltergiest didnt really earn his points imo. He was too tricky to get much use out of. Widow Weave made some nice moves, but went down very quickly. The bloodwretch probably scored me the most VP's across all games. I placed third from last, and did have a lot of fun and learned a good deal. I think I need a lot more games in with Pandora though, and to get a few more lower cost models to really target some schemes. I felt she was too reliant on getting everyone placed right that often it felt I was focusing on her crews position than I was on scoring points. I guess that'll become easier with more familarity though. Now I need to get some games in before the next tournament *Edit; a picture of the crew, minus the bloodwretch.*
  4. Is there any plans to make Chronicles a printed publication? I love the free download, but I also would like to have a shiny book arrive in my mail..
  5. Thanks for the tips! Im going to have a read over the schemes tonight and settle oh which ones I want, then build a list. Im quite looking forward to it, should be fun! All I have left to paint is the primordial magic now, I've done a vase coat, but not sure how I want to paint it, so I've stalled for a bit
  6. ive generally run her using incite a lot. But the positioning game is a bit tricky. I need to pick up the box with "Fears given form" and Iggy as far as I've gathered. Do I use the doppelgänger to run schemes? And should I take 3 sorrows..?
  7. Thats very helpful! I dont have a Teddy and wont have it delivered for the weekend. But definitly want to try out the Widow weaver. I like the sorrows, but am worried they're too squishy.
  8. Hey guys! Well I've been palying Malifaux for just about a year now. Mostly with my partner and a friend. I've played Warhammer for 15 ish, but in all this time I've never played at a tournament. All that is about to change! I have my first ever Tournament this Saturday! As I have no idea how some of the new schemes etc work, I figured I'd ask you guys for some help in choosing them and a list I can bring (based on the models I own!) So, here's what I have; *edit* I only have the cards that come with these models. So no 'fears given forms' Pandora Poltergeist, 3 sorrows. Baby Kade, Candy Doppleganger, Primordial Magic Widow Weaver. Angel Eyes Scion of Black Blood 2 Blood Wretches. Dr. Grimwell, Nurse Heartsbane 2 orderlies (Unpainted but assembled. Would rather avoid using these if possible as I'd like to play with a fully painted crew ;p) Jacob Lynch Hungering Darkness 3 illuminated. The schemes we'll be running with are: Standard GG2016 format: Round 1 Reconnoiter, Flank Deployment Convict Labor Take Prisoner Set Up Hunting Party Show of Force Round 2 Extraction, Standard Deployment Convict Labor Hunting Party Exhaust their Forces Mark for Death A Quick Murder Round 3 Collect The Bounty, Close Deployment Convict Labor Show of Force Leave your mark Covert Breakthrough Frame for Murder Pandora and her crew box is what I have experience with. I've yet to try most of the others aside from the starter set contents. So.. what would you guys suggest?
  9. Seriously Roll on Gencon, I want to get a few of these new masters ordered
  10. Thanks for that! I'm trying to encourage a few friends to play more games in the hope they'll get hooked. As it stands my games are sporadic at bets. For the most part your comments echo what I was thinking. I love the doppleganger, I think its a gorgeous model. I'm just not sure how to use her.. time enough for that I guess. (She' still in the post!) Teddy and Madness are on the list along with the deck, I just need to make sure I havetime to get it all painted for June I still need some cheap SS models to bulk out with tho, I guess dropping the Poltergeist helps with that by freeing up some points. I am tempted to try convert some stuff using the Wyrd multipose females, (mainly the beckoners.. but not sure on Wyrd rules for those)
  11. My one experience of Pandora so far seemed to suggets people are afraid of hitting Pandora.. but I guess I can see the use for it. In other news, I've almost finished my Candy
  12. More models I don't have yet >.< The effigy doesn't seem that great. But those Insidious Madness' look awesome to work with Pandora! (on the list they go!) Lilitu seems interesting. So its a maybe, I fancy the Beckoners because they seem to fit in with Lynch.. whom I already have. Although, I do have the Wyrd Female Multipose models... so I could maybe convert something for them.. (What're the rules on conversions/proxys?) The tots seem like they should definitly be added to the list, but I'm not sure buying them seperatly is worth it, over getting the Lilith crewbox, and I'd no plans to get another master just yet =/ But yeah.. Madnesses are definitly on the list now, I can see running two of those, some sorrows, a widow weaver and Pandora just being ridiculous together.
  13. So, had my first game today against Yan Lo. Ran with Pandora, Fugue State, THe Box Opens (I don't have Fears given form ) Poltergeist Candy, (Depression, Best Behaviour) Baby Kade 3 Sorrows. Scion of Black Blood. (To use up the last points) I wasn't quite sure what to do,so spent most of the game trying to work out how she plays and didn't focus on schemes. We had Turf War, and I took Breakthrough and Protect Territory. I lost the flip for initive every round so had to blow ss on it in later rounds. My poltergeist dropped in round 1. He's a lot softer than I imagined I ran Candy forwards and buried her, thinking I could unbury her in the opponents half... (noob mistake!). Nothing much happened beyond moving my sorrows and Pandora. Fast forward to later, I got Pandora in the middle with 3 sorrows with a few of my opponents models. Inflict was insane, it just burnt through his hand and he was really reluctant to attack Pandora. But he took out the sorrows one by one. The scion took out his scheme runner as Baby Kade finished off a model he used to score VP whilst 2" of scheme marker denying him 2 points. Candy got stuck fighting a giant turtle (I kept dropping it to 1 wound, but it got healed up very fast -.-) In the end I lost, but it was a really fun game and I feel I learned a lot, I've a greater appreciation for how she works which should make future games a lot easier! I got out activated by a sizable margin in mid game. So I think I need to pick up a few models that have lower point costs to offset that. My opponent suggested the Depleated? All in all, I'm very pleased. I can't wait for a few more games now! Coincidentally, I'm waiting for Widow Weaver (I can just see how she's going to work with Pandora! That is going to be filthy lol), Primordial Magic, and a Doppleganger coming in the post. I've ear marked some Beckoners, and of course, Teddy(!) for a future purchase. I'm just not quite sure how to play the Doppleganger, I guess I'll just experiment with her
  14. That went over my head
  15. Thanks for that! I'll check out the full thing tomorrow. Listening to the priming section now. (MY partner broke her toe today, so we've been in hospital all morning...)
  16. I haven't been diluting it, and usually use around 20-30 PSI. I'm using an Iwata Neo and I find under 20PSI and it clogs a lot with the primer.
  17. Hmm. I've left it weeks in some cases and it still rubs off fairly easy. I wonder why yours is so duralble Vic. I have 3 of the 60ml bottles, grey/black/white. I'll maybe try 2-3 very light coats with a delay in between and see how that goes. THough I don't normally flood mine, I usually do a short pass to pick out details, then follow through with a bigger coat. I primed some on Sunday after a varnish done the night before. It seems to be a little sturdier, but nowhere as good as the Citaldel Spray primer.. I'm just a little diappointed is all, I was expecting them to be a lot better givien how positively some people were speaking of them.
  18. My local tourny is using Gaining Grounds I think. I'll need to read it before I go, I've never done a tourny so its all new to me! I'm mostly interestedi n those poker chips..
  19. I admit I go for modles more for their look than play style. It's disappointing to know Sorrows/Poltergeist dont get used much lol. I've made contact with the local Wyrd group and hoping to get a few practise games in before the tournament in June. Yesteday was spent assembling the Jacob Box, today has been spent priming everything. The rest of the day will be deciding on a colour scheme and eyeing up scheme markers and convincing my partner that its only two small purchases...
  20. I read they were good. So picked up grey, white and black. But, every time I've used them they just don't seem to hold well. I can scrap them off with a finger nail or rub them off with my finger even weeks later I normally wash my models before priming so I don't know what could be causing it. Google indicates people have similiar issues, but others say they don't. Any tips? Is there a better primer to use via airbrush?
  21. I'll pass that on, though a lot of it went over my head
  22. Why do you not use the Scales of Justice or the Death Marshals? We'll probably be adding the hounds and effigy to my order this week. Question is whether to order locally, or try to get the $100 mark for the LE model
  23. That's excellent! She's not keen on the Perdita models, so i'm not sure she'll take Francisco. But she's definitly getting the Guild Hounds. The emissary is a definite yes also, (but its not released yet?) And its a yes on the Effigy. Shes not keen on the Pathfinder. (but is contemplating it) All in all I think with the addition of the hounds and the effigy she's defintly going to have enough to play around with! Thanks for the help!
  24. Hey Folks! I'm reletively new to Malifaux, I picked up the starter in the Summer and have played it quite a lot with my partner. Shes in the process of fixing up a Lady J. Crew box. I have Jacob Lynch (unassembled) and Pandora, (Unpainted). There's a local tournament due in June, Im not normally one for Tournaments but figured why not since I'll be at the convvention anyway! I posted a thread in the Neverborn section and my partner is interested in the answers for her! So the basic question is: She has a box of Guild Austringers, the Sonia Crid crew (metal) and the Lady J. Crew. What would she need to bring her Lady J. up to scratch. She's not fond of the metal set - so it's been languishing in a box since X-mas. She does really like the new Guild Hounds.. So any suggestions? Thanks! Sorry if this has been asked already
