  1. She can also carry the Howling Wolf Tattoo upgrade, which can be a lot of fun with two convict gunslingers. You're not going to get rapid fire with both in one turn very often, but one is likely much of the time.
  2. Well they do look a bit like lightning bugs, so maybe they're lightning bugs. Those did just come out and it wouldn't make much sense to release more already, but who knows!
  3. There is a pretty detailed thread on this topic here: There's some good stuff in that one (it could perhaps even get a sticky since it has become a bit of a strategy discussion too).
  4. The real benefit of burning that I've experienced is the ability to ignore LOS and cover when using her ranged attack. With a 14" range that ability against burning opponents is massive in my opinion. You just can't hide from it! I lost a tournament game yesterday 6-5 almost entirely because of this ability. I just couldn't get away from her ranged attack.
  5. I've had a few models that have been problematic for me. When they are I will usually just put them into a plastic bag and set them aside and move on to something else. Every time I've done that and come back to them it has been quite a bit easier. I do like the assembly process though. It's a bit cathartic I suppose. There are time where there are just a few too many pieces and a few too small pieces. The one that amazed me was the war rabbit. One of the gremlins on the rabbit had two separate ears that you had to glue onto his head! I still don't know if they're glued on right side up!
  6. While I like a bit of realness to my fantasy as well and get where you're coming from, would you be tempted just a little bit if you had a whole crew of anthropomorphic ten thunders? A snow leopard Shenlong, a panda Yu, and a crane Chiaki to go with the turtle and tengu?
  7. I love the turtle! I'm not sure if I actually like him more than Izamu, but he's fantastic. The rabbit is well done also. I don't know how well he'd fit in as a blessed of December, but the alternative teddy idea is a great one.
  8. Lenny is well done, which is surprising because I'm sensing a moderate aversion to gremlins.
  9. Great list! It's never really a good thing when all of the models are released. Wyrd always has to keep the cycle going a bit to keep us interested in new releases and new models.
  10. They aren't all the best images - just having fun with it. Yes, Sucker Punch is Viktorias. They are twins in the game but in the movie you've got a couple of sisters and a handful of girls total so I figured it was a good representation. Not to mention they battle a bunch of Freikorps-looking things in one of the dream sequences. The image to the right of of that is a steampunk guy who (to me) resembles Levi. You're right about assassinate. I was thinking scheme even though it said strategy. I'm guessing on the other, but assume Uma is a Ash as well. I'm not into the fluff so even though mechanically they are hired together the first distinguishing characteristic that I see is katana-wielding fiend. I think your first guess is right - I saw Seamus there.
  11. What about using The Firestarter instead of Willie? He can get the party started by burning your gunsmiths round 1 just like Willie, but then he can actually start running schemes for you, keep piling on the burning, or even twirl the can and take the credit at the end of a turn for models dying from burning. The reckless and flight gives him a lot of options.
  12. How late do you expect this to run? 35ss, 3 rounds, maybe 5:00?
  13. This is a particularly unattractive piece. Almost the entire Wyrd range is fantastic, so one really poor one in there is certainly OK. Too bad though, I would like to have this model, but am not going to get this sculpt.
  14. While this is absolutely accurate it is worth noting that the damage track isn't too bad on these guys (2/4/6) for their cost. So often (maybe even usually) it'll be better to shoot at two models and give them both slow. Sometimes it'll be better to concentrate on one and just take him off the board entirely. Acolytes can do either based on the situation.
  15. The slingshot is a nice trick but it doesn't really have to define how the Viktorias are used. I've been playing them a lot lately and haven't really been using it much. It's nice to have Sisters in Spirit on Ashes even if you're not slingshotting since it affords you the opportunity to re-position Blood when you need to do so. I've been using them quite a bit lately without the student but still treating them as a pretty mobile strike force. In round 2+ that usually means Ash is walking once, shooting once, and then spiriting Blood over. Blood is then charging her next victim. You're not getting the massive first round strike, but Blood can still bounce around 16" this way if you need her to do so. They make a pretty good counter charge crew for a gunline too. Vanessa with the tattoo and a couple of convict gunslingers or even just Lazarus will attract enough of your opponents attention that he'll have to charge (depending on schemes of course) at which time you'll counter charge with the Viks.
  16. I've decided to run Mancha Roja in a henchman hardcore series (all close, turf war, assassinate) and can't decide if I want Lenny or Trixie as a sidekick. We're probably looking at either: Mancha w/ second gremlin & stilts Trixie w/ a gun for a lady Slop Hauler Bayou Gremlin or Mancha w/ second gremlin & stilts Lenny Slop Hauler Bayou Gremlin Trixie would spend most of her AP on gremlin lure early, pushing opponents away so MR is facing only one or two, hopefully debuffed by the slop hauler. The gremlin can focus and shoot those she's pushed. Lenny on the other hand would stand beside MR and whack stuff as well, but has the advantage of the bonus ram to ensure the second gremlin goes off every time. He'll also reduce damage by one. Which do you think would be better? I'm leaning toward Trixie, but if I go that way is the second gremlin really worth it? Perhaps I should go with Trixie and dump all the upgrades to change out my bayou gremlin for Raphael (or Burt).
  17. I assume (since your rules don't say otherwise) that I can have two henchmen - one as the leader and another that I pay normal cost to include correct? Barring unknown circumstances - see you Monday.
  18. Outcasts = Von Schill Gremlins = Ophelia I play Outcasts and Gremlins the most, Arcanists and Ten Thunders only a bit so I'm not as confident with opinions on them, but I would say: Arcanists = probably Kaeris Ten Thunders = Misaki I don't play the other factions at all, but based on facing them I would say: Ressers = McMourning Guild = either Lady J or Perdita Neverborn = Lilith That doesn't mean they're the best crew boxes as starters, but probably the easiest to play.
  19. I did find the callout - thanks for the answer. So Jackdaw & Hanna with a few of the Crossroads seven would be nasty!
  20. Thanks - gonna go search for that now.
  21. Looked for this but couldn't find it either here or in the FAQ. Say I'm running Greed. She has a (1) action - The Greed Spreads that can only be used once per turn. So I assume Perdita couldn't use Obey to make her do it again and Colette couldn't Prompt her to take the action again. It does seem like Hannah would be able to use Make a New Entry to copy this action and use it again. Is that correct?
  22. I would associate lowest model count with elite groups. Probably outcasts or arcanists can build the best elite crews with relatively small model counts. They each have several good high cost models. Colette from arcanists would be a great elite master. Perhaps Von Schill from outcasts. They can both be dynamic and solve a lot of problems while working with small crews. Von Schill could do really well with his core box and the strongarm suit and Hannah or maybe Lazarus. Colette might want a few more pieces, but Howard, acolytes, and silent ones would be nice. Johan would fit well in either. Both of those masters could address most strategies and schemes and both would be viable in a tournament i would think. You could go pretty elite in any faction and still stay away from summoning. I really like the Outcast models in the 10 point range, so I would probably go elite that way. The alternative is to attack cost first. For example the Misaki box (outcast/10T) seems to be about the lowest priced one out there I've seen (from memory). You could grab something like that and slowly build around it with high cost elite models when they're on sale. She couldn't assist Freikorps the way Von Schill could, but can still work well with those high cost outcasts. Some of the smaller ones like Bishop and Johan are very solid models that don't cost much.
  23. Executioner because they're such great looking models.
