  1. I actually don't mind this particular render. But overall I'm looking at the changes to Malifaux and I'm getting less excited week by week. Art is subjective but when I look at the artwork for M3E I can pretty much tell I won't like the artist/artists vision and execution going forward based on the bulk of what I've seen. It's lost that element of nightmarish charm that made me take notice of Malifaux. Now these miniatures could be from a number of different game systems. It's all very generic looking.
  2. The art direction for M3E is just plain bad. This might seem like a strong reaction and I totally understand that it's someones hard work but it isn't right. If the thing it's replacing is better I have to question the necessity for new models at this stage (other than to make a quick buck) I said it at the time of announcement for M3E 'don't fix what isn't broken' the rules need a revamp, certain models need replacing but don't deviate from the tone of the original artwork for something worse. You're just harming the range. I made a decision to hunt down M2E kits that I feel are 'under threat' of replacement with something mediocre. The Dreamer crew (especially that absolutely atrocious Lord Chompy Bits) was one of my first purchases. I've picked up the DMH's kits because well why chuck out something that again people love and enjoy for the sake of fluff? Away from the artwork taking away the flexibility from crew hiring (whilst I understand this prevents all star crews to a point) it also stifles players. Sure your average power gamer nerd at a tourney might whip out these obnoxious crews time and time again but there could be other avenues to explore to stop that. The majority of Malifaux games being played I would imagine are between friends or at the very least between two people just looking for a fun game to play.
  3. I've got the black and white beta cards I was referring to the new M3E style card (tarot size) using the M2E artwork. I think they would look awesome.
  4. Again the M2E sculpt is better. It would be nice if the cards were made available with the M2E artwork.
  5. I'm not a fan so far of the art direction of M3E. It seems several levels below that what we saw in M2E. I said when M3E was announced that one of the things that almost didn't need to change with the exception of certain models was the mini's. The new style is just not Malifaux.
  6. Yeah this is another underwhelming sculpt. Is it a different lead artist they're using this time round?
  7. Could you tell me what brand plastic sheets you pick up for basing Adran?
  8. Updated as no longer need Mech Attendant and want the Nicodem crew box.
  9. Didn't they say at some point they are going to be offering unassembled TOS stuff on their webstore? Is that still happening? When you've managed to get the mini's unassembled is it easy to remove the glue they used to put the model together?
  10. Not to be the 'I told you so' guy but I said these very things during the Kickstarter. The 'high quality' PVC miniatures is a myth. No 'special blend' or magic elixir can bring PVC to the same standard as stuff like hard plastic or resin. So unless you're in one of three camps 1) Don't care about quality 2) Willing to sacrifice quality for instant playability or 3) Stinking rich you're probably going to come away disappointed when you compare them to other miniature lines. That said I have no personal experience and can only go off the images I've seen so far and the reports from those that did pick stuff up. It's a bloody shame is what it is (In Northern British accent whilst twisting mustache that I don't have) as I was willing to go big on the Kickstarter but they pretty much went in the complete opposite direction to what I was hoping/expecting.
  11. The Malifaux models are lovely....once you've got them together but even myself who's been putting miniatures together for over fifteen years found some of the miniatures to be poor from a modelling perspective. The contact points between parts can be extremely small and many of the miniatures just seem to require a level of care several notches higher than miniatures produced by other companies. But I won't be replacing my existing models because I just don't think aesthetically there will be a big enough leap with the new kits. It's like comparing the old metals to the existing plastics where in most cases you can see a clear visual enhancement, I can't see that happening here. Take the new Dreamer crew as an example I actually prefer the old kit. I think for me the main issues with M2E was a convoluted ruleset, some of the components needed addressing, the cards for example I do think needed a visual facelift - I do like the new design from what I've seen . The two player set was quite weak and it didn't really sell the game to new players. One of my best friends summed up M2E quite perfectly, he had about five crews and every time I asked him if he wanted a game he'd say no. He loved the models but he absolutely hated having to digest so much information before he knew not only how to use his own models but how his opponents models were going to function during a game. In the end he sold majority of Malifaux stuff off. So yes whilst I quite enjoy a game with a ruleset that has incredible depth and intricacy I would gladly sacrifice some of that to actually get more people to the table 😊
  12. I haven't done any digging but obviously this is an open beta have Wyrd given any sort of timeline as to when we can expect the full release along with new rulebook?
  13. The Death Marshal specifically the one posed vaulting over the coffin with one hand. The Purifying Flame found in the Sonnia crew box. Both preferably still on sprue. Interested in getting my hands on the Nicodem crew box if the price is right. I can pay via Paypal and obviously would prefer to purchase from someone within the UK or EU.
  14. Is it a full army though? it isn't. You're going to need to purchase additional units to have the flexibility to play a competent list. It's like saying one of the starting collecting boxes GW put out is a full army. It still doesn't address the slashing of MSRP which was clearly bloated for the Kickstarter and whilst I brought this up during the Kickstarter as a legitimate concern they seemed more than happy to take as much cash off backers as they could and then reduce the price come retail. I suppose if you're happy to at least take comfort you helped make the game happen then there's that at the very least. I think the backers deserved better than a sizeable delay and slashed value of the items they paid for.
  15. Mainly I'm put off by the prices at retail. It'll be a hard sell to friends and local stores to get them to invest in this game because of the asking price. Can I personally recommend you spend $90 on one of the Titans? Not really. There in lies the problem it's one of those games people will go 'yeah looks alright but its too expensive'. There's a number of design choices I'm not thrilled about either, firstly pre-assembled minatures and there's certainly question marks about PVC miniatures at this price point. What I would say is I'm not a warmahordes fan for many similar reasons (high prices so so quality miniatures) so when I heard Wyrd were doing a wargame on this scale I wasn't really expecting them to take a similar route to what Privateer Press have with pricing and manufacturing choices. We hopefully will all be sat here in a couple of years time and this game will have proven to be a success at retail it's just not what I was expecting really. Perhaps it is my expectations that are wrong! Quote from me back in Jan 2017. I really feel for the Kickstarter backers on this. It was plain to see during the Kickstarter that the MSRP prices quoted weren't realistic at all therefore the proposed 'saving' wasn't in actual fact much of a saving if a saving at all. This combined with the delays and the heavily discounted prices third party retailers are offering means that Wyrd really deserve all the flak they are getting on this.
  16. But if the likes of Nico will be balanced in M3E why take them away? You can still introduce new masters. All the game needs is streamlining (personally I don't think it needs that I like the added complexity the game currently offers) to attract a wider audience. Also release a proper two player starter box with some pop up terrain and a fold out map. Give new players a proper entry level start point to get a game to table.
  17. Malifaux's main drawback has always been two things firstly for many tabletop gamers the game has way too many individual rules per model. For new players it's daunting because you really need to understand how your opponents models operate and it quickly becomes a headache for new players to get a grasp of. Secondly Malifaux has a deceptively high buy in. Sure you can play a game with one crew box - but you can't really be competitive until you've spent a fortune on multiple crew boxes and/or other mini's as you need the flexibility. I'd like to see bigger faction specific boxes at a reasonable price tag. But if you start canning masters your existing player base will question whether it's worth investing in the game as they don't know if their purchases are going to invalidated or at least compromised 2-3 years down the line.
  18. I hope we don't end up losing some of the range. Sure there's a few mini's that need replacements but the miniatures range is actually very strong in the main. I'm caught in two minds as to what to do now is it worth investing in more Malifaux? As someone posted earlier I don't really like the idea that some of the range will only be useable at player discretion. When you invest in a crew it isn't just the crew box you buy it's a whole host of other mini's bought specifically in mind to use in said crew. Now you're technically shifting away from those masters/crews it does sting. I think I might have to bow out or just stick to playing 2nd edition simply because I don't like the idea of some stuff being playable and some stuff being in this strange grey area for absolutely no reason.
  19. Here's a point what is lost by keeping said masters in the game? We've been told they'll be balanced, they have acceptable existing models. How lame a tournament is it that will ban their use just because 'oooo that character died in the fluff' who cares!
  20. It wasn't so much the fact they eradicated the lore of Fantasy in creating AoS that made/makes AoS successful. Firstly things like the start collecting boxes were affordable ways to start collecting armies. They streamlined how you could collect armies, you were no longer tied down to fielding models from a single faction etc. Couple that with a steady release of new kits/armies, releasing the core rules for free and simplifying thegameplay and AoS became less of a chore to play when compared to WFB. But Wyrd are in a totally different situation this is a niche game with a much smaller player base. I'm not sure doing a half cocked announcement of a new edition in which they announce they are panning many of the popular masters for no real logical reason was the best way to get people excited.
  21. *Is currently completing purchase for Lilith and Nicodem crews before the culling Nothing will stop me playing Ramos I just would hate it if I turned up at my LGS and a new player seeing Ramos cannot purchase him at retail for basically no reason.
  22. I'm not happy how many of the masters I've enjoyed playing are now quietly being taken out back and shot in the face. Plus I'd hate to play a game against someone with a master they might not have access to now at retail. I don't know if I like the 'story' dictating the game to this degree.
  23. So does that mean the dropped masters will no longer be part of the range? i.e Lilith will not be purchasable after the launch? Not sure how I feel. I'm all for streamlining the game as literally every response I get from other people when I mention Malifaux is 'ergh too many rules'. I particularly like the depth the game currently has and I sure hope masters like Lilith and Nicodem don't just disappear.
  24. Thats great if I could see a pic of it just to make sure that'd be great.
  25. Looking for plastic Purifying Flame, Brass Arachnid and Death Marshal (the one attached to coffin by the hand) Would prefer unbuilt but I may consider built ones that aren't painted. If you have these knocking about I really would appreciate them! Will pay via Paypal
