  1. I demoed a few games in 1e using Nicodem, but the rules felt so cluttered and discombobulating that I left it for another time and swore Malifaux off. Then 2e came out and a buddy picked up Lady J and strong armed me into picking up a crew as well. Immediately fell in love with the aesthetic, story, and play style of Collodi and his puppet friends - which led to falling in love with M2E - and then Zoraida, Dreamer, Gremlins, and the occasional ninja. I almost exclusively play Malifaux now - best decision I've made.
  2. I think that I will have to try this as well.
  3. Hello all! Happy to say that yesterday I got my first game of Malifaux in a couple of months. My opponent was keen to try out a proxy crew of the CR7, and so I pulled out my trusty puppet master to come out and dance to the music. Let me know if there is anything that can be done to make this more enjoyable in the future, first time posting a battlereport to the forums. Strategy - Guard the Stash, Standard Deployment Scheme pool - ALiTS, Breakthrough, Assassinate, Spring the Trap, (something else) Sinscaptain's Neverborn Collodi - Fated, Strum the Threads, Breathe Life Widow Weaver - Handbag (2) Marionettes Brutal Effigy Teddy - Retributions Eye Beckoner (2) Depleted Schemes - Assassinate + Breakthrough (revealed) The Band Wrath Greed Gluttony Lust - Imbued Energies Envy - Imbued Energies(?) Pride Sloth Schemes - Assassinate + Breakthrough (revealed) I won to make my opponent set up first, which resulted in a blob of Wrath, Envy, and Gluttony to one side of the board with the rest hunkered down in the opposite corner in hard cover. I put the depleted, Teddy, and the Beckoner on the flank against Wrath, while Collodi and the rest squared up against Greed, Lust, Pride, and Sloth. Turn 1 I won initiative and deferred to my opponent to begin the game. As with most games, turn one was all about jockeying for position on the board. My depleted slingshot each other up towards the first stash marker, while Collodi and his minions all ducked around hard cover well outside of the range of the band. Teddy and the beckoner moved forward, trying to pull Wrath out of place for an early assassination run. Nothin much of note honestly, as I stayed well outside of the bubbles of doom and he walked his way up. Turn 2 I won initiative yet again, and this time decided to try and alpha strike Wrath. I managed to get Teddy into combat with Wrath and take a couple of swings at him, but I misplayed and only got a single attack off which failed to do any good damage. Envy then blew the Beckoner off of the table in a single shot and moved around. Gluttony and the depleted started to shuffle towards the stash marker, which was great for Gluttony - not being able to take interact actions was taking 2 damage on the depleted per turn. On the opposite side, Greed ran out and tried to make a big play against Collodi, who survived thanks to bad card flipping for my opponent and a nice hand for my turn. Collodi then nuked Greed off of the table. As a side note, Greed was one of the models I was more interested in seeing what they could do, along with Lust - who I got to see plenty of for the rest of the game. Sloth and Lust came out around the stash marker while a Marionette ran forward to make sure that I would get points from the strategy this turn. Wrath activated towards the end of the turn and punched Teddy for a good amount of damage - bringing it down to 3 HP. Score - 1-1 Turn 3 I won initiative yet again, and tried to do work with Teddy against Wrath before he was beaten into cotton balls. Managed to flurry and hit Wrath hard twice, and had the hand to take him off of the table… which of course meant that it was time for a Black Joker to come out on the attack flip. Wrath then took Teddy off of the table. This was an awesome turn for Collodi - who should have waited to go after the Brutal effigy in order to heal up all of the damage he’d taken from strumming his own threads - but another misplay never hurts to learn from. Collodi took his 4 AP to take a focus shot against Lust and Pride, managing to knock them about and kill pride. Widow Weaver hoped in to Paralyze Lust - which isnt as good as it seems because you STILL take damage from her aura - something that managed to really hurt a good chunk of my crew on that flank. The rest of the turn ended up being positioning for turn 4 and scoring from the Strat. Score - 2-2 Turn 4 I won initiative for the 4th time in a row, and tried to swing at Wrath with a depleted. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any damage - which cause the depleted to take damage and explode, killing the other depleted. Whoops. Gluttony trotted off into my flank to start laying Breakthrough points. Collodi activated, killed off Sloth and took some points off of Lust; pushed the Brutal effigy towards the breakthrough line and made the game changing error of not killing Lust with his AP, but instead pushed her away from the Stash marker. Lust moves right back into scoring range and kills a minion. Marionettes scurry about attempting to score points back towards Wrath and Envy. Score 2-3 Turn 5 I win initiative again, and manage to take out Lust with a few quick snipes from Collodi, who then uses pull the strings to have Brutal Effigy scheme run. Envy walks up and tries to assassinate Collodi from across the table, and manages to take him off the table. The Brutal effigy scores full breakthrough for me and Gluttony does the same for my opponent. Game ends there FINAL SCORE 5-8 for the Crossroads Seven Final Thoughts Man, Lust is disgustingly good! She was constantly taking points off of my crew in the area because of the threat of the other two band members and her ridiculous attack actions. At one point in the game she did manage to make Collodi and the Widow Weaver start making out, which is disturbing to picture. All in all, it was a great game for both of us. I have been playing mostly Gremlins lately, so it was really nice to get my favorite master back onto the table against something totally different. The Crossroads Seven are something that I was only considering before, but I have to get them to just play with all of the crazy auras now. Hopefully you all have enjoyed. Next time I post on here I will make sure to grab some pictures to post up along with the battlereport.
  4. Check out Paladin Tech and Games over on Avalon Lake Drive. The guys who started Angry Mojo Games - the terrain company - play out there. Great guys. I used to play out there until I moved up to Atlanta.
