  1. Ah thanks Paradox & Ferossa for getting back to my post. As I said before, it was a really tough decision to go with Guild in the end. I really liked all of the factions, if it had been another night I may have picked Ramos, but that's why I went with Hoffman in the end as the pack would still work with Perdita's crew and give me the option to pick up M&SU later on. What's really clever game design is the way crew's give you legitimate access to other factions. I still plan to get Collidi and I have the option to get dual faction Lucius at the same time. But as you said Ferossa, I like to have my models assembled and painted when I take them onto the battlefield. It gives me plenty of time to get what I have ready, rather than having an overwhelming amount of grey plastic! I bought Perdita's crew, not just because I love the genre/model's, but because I've always wanted to add Kromlech's Cacti to the model bases of something and this gave me the perfect opportunity. On a side note, I said before that when I got my Hoffman box that one of the 50mm bases was missing. I contacted Element Games who said they could help but it may be quicker for me to get in touch directly with Wyrd so I did. I sent a mail and Amy from Wyrd got back to me straight away and even though I was in the UK she sent the base out to me from America on a tracked package. I got in from work today to find it on my dining room table. To me the mark of a good company isn't when it always goes right, but how they react when it goes wrong, and I'm really impressed with Wyrd & Amy. Thanks for sorting that out so quickly and efficiently, as a customer it's so reassuring to know that the people you're buying from care.
  2. Hi KDS, There is a post here that is a few weeks old now: http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/107488-hastings-1066-shootout-tournament-thursday-26-march-2015/ Their website is here: http://1066wargaming.boards.net/ Looks like they have a nice Malifaux Community. I think they meet on Thursday nights, I'm just down the road in Bexhill and plan to get along once I've put my models together and done a little painting. (Just recently made my first Malifaux purchases) I hope that helps!
  3. Thank you for the responses Dirial & Enderwiggin. I'll bear in mind not to overuse Latigo's, hopefully I'll find a happy synergy with three boxes I bought. I assembled the Posse today and I'm looking forward to painting them up, the Hoffman Crew box was missing a 50mm base unfortunately but I've emailed Element Games and I'm sure they'll get it sorted. Funnily enough, while I was putting the Latigo's together my girlfriend said how much she liked the models, this is coming from a girl that doesn't have a lot of interest in table top games. I'm sure once I got everything up and running she'll have a few games with me too which will be first!
  4. Hi Malifauxians, I'm really looking forward to finally getting into this game. I think it's the art style and complimentary cross genres that really caught my attention at first, as well as being able to field smaller crews rather than having to amass a huge army that I just don't have the time to assemble and paint. The idea of a small amount of individual models playing in a skirmish environment really appeals to me. That said I have found it all a bit confusing, let me try and explain as I think it's a strange (wyrd?) time to be getting into this game. Originally I loved the idea of getting Collodi, I always liked the Puppet Master films, and his story is both harrowing and tragic - great fluff! But he was a henchman and not a master, now with a bit of further reading on him I saw he was/is becoming a master and will have a new model out in future. This made me hesitate as the game was going through changes - the last thing I wanted to do was to spend money/time on models that were going to be superseded soon, so I left it for a while and occasionally nipped back to see how things were going heading towards 2nd edition. I frequently visited Pull My Finger and these Forums to get advice on what goes with what and what works well etc, the main stumbling block was that most of the other Crews I looked at had certain models recommended that just weren't available "If you're going to play Dreamer you should really take Insidious Madness (no longer available)" or "Perdita's Crew is good to start with and its even better with Pistolero's (not available) and Abuela (not available)". I totally understand the game is going through an overhaul at the moment and all the old metals have been discontinued, but if new boxes come out I'd love to see those additional models come out with the main Crews at the same time, it just makes it a bit simpler for a new player to get their head around. There is a club not to far from where I live that plays Malifaux so I'm lucky knowing there is a community of players that already exist locally. Because of this I decided to get The Latigo Posse, Of Metal and Flesh and Executioners as I thought this would give me a good base to start with and learn the game. Mixing the Wild West and Steampunk sounds amazing and I'm already trying to figure out how I can make a gaming board with a working Train Set! So if anyone has any tips please let me know and thanks for taking the time to read my post.
