Yeah we prefer if you can manage at least one event per month, but especially with a newer or smaller playgroup this can be challenging. Demos do count as events. This makes it easy for you to grab a person here or there and give a Malifaux demo. I look forward to eventually seeing your application!

Hans is a favorite of mine his 0 cost upgrade is situationally good and he brings a lot of utility. I get tired of facing incorporeal so he frequently makes my list. Also, GG16 favors him as a counter to "Show of Force"

I think you should hear some of @Mason's success stories. He has hired the Deso Engine before with Hamlin to great success. It is actually a good model, if only a tad bit pricey. If you run the thematic crew then yeah you probably wouldn't hire him due to being able to summon him.

Consider strategies and schemes needing sheer numbers (GG2016 in particular). They are minions so they still count for things like guard the stash, interference, etc. Still great models for their cost. Also consider how they have the "guardsman" characteristic. There are some particular synergies there

The two play starter set does count basically you need a large enough crew to teach the game. There is not a specific number of soulstones or models needed other than what would logically work for a demo

Viks: swingy games. Tend to wreck face or get wrecked. Von Schill: reliable and versatile No downsides is his true upside. Hamelin: denial tactics, defensive control and alternate damage. Likes the mid-long game plans. Suffers vs condition removal and plentiful AOE attacks. Levi: tricky but fun and powerful. Has a higher learning curve as a new player because he has a unique playstyle. Uses death and rebirth mechanics and has the largest hiring pool in the game making him a daunting first master. He was my first and I love him, but as a first dive, not recommended. One thing to remember is that many of the Outcasts play the game their own way. They deviate from standard types of gameplay with unique mechanics that make them fun to play. If you have some difficulties with them initially, just keep playing to figure out their tricks.

I found I prefer a rat engine with a focus on spreading blight. it is really easy to make a core blight list and just add other models as needed per schemes and strategy. if you swarm rats, they have to deal with them or blighted with add up. I havent found too much issue with condition removal as a lot of rats means a lot of blighted models to cleanse. My "core" hamlin build: Hamlin The Plague The Piper 1x Stolen Nix Infectious Melodies Obedient Wretch 1x Ratcatcher From there I add what is needed. I want as many models with the Bleeding Disease attack as I can get. I have had a game where huggy died 3 times, two beckoners died, an illumiated, and very nearly Lynch himself. All the while I had my other models doing schemes and strategies.

Von Schill is not as swingy as the Viks, and is rather forgiving as a master. His crew is super versatile and useable in many other crews both in faction and out of faction as mercs. I would recommend him as a good starter for someone wanting to play outcasts.

gorgeous. The individual pieces as the cobblestones give it a very realistic feel. I love how you did the water. Probably the most realistic water I have seen to date on a gaming board (color+texture)

Or if you see this in the pool, dont take Levy That is gonna be my tactic and I love Leveticus.

Levy has some of the highest damage output due to his ability to get s. I have had ridiculously unlucky games where I killed nothing and steamroller games where he killed anything he blinked at. You take the damage to the gain on his attacks then sac to create a waif. The reason those s are so good is it allows you to cheat against a lot of things most people can't. He also ignores most defense so Levy is quite scary. Sometimes he is a one-man apocalypse and sometimes you do need to use other crew pieces to soften something up. It sounds like you have the basics behind him. Just keep playing him and learn his tricks
