  1. So far I've tested: Bishop: Absolutely incredible with Nellie. I'm enjoying pairing him with Francisco and Abuela. Give the hat to Bishop, push Abuela with (0), then walk. Have Nellie give Abuela fast, drop a scheme marker in base, blink Bishop up with Hot Off The Presses (roughly 6" of free movement), then hand him fast. Then you can have Abuela (0) Bishop to take another walk. You get roughly 7 AP out of him turn 1 and can keep blinking him around later on. He's also really good with Phiona if you get out the cracked condition. Trappers: They're always pretty great, but often don't feel necessary because we have Austringers. Sue: He's always great, especially against casters. Debt + Fast + Possible heals from Nellie make Sue pretty fantastic for not having the merc tax. Fun fact: You can take Sue with Lucius, Abuela, and a Terracotta Warrior to give him Rapid Fire or Diestro. Fun times will be had. Anna/Hannah: I love these two in a lot of cases. More card draw, 3+ Ca6 min 3 attacks, and more? Yes please! Librarian: I'd really only take her with Hannah, but then I'd rather Anna instead of the Librarian. She's not bad, just not as good as she is in outcasts. Taelor: Great, especially against summoning. A fast, debt wielding Taelor is brutal. Johan: Budget Taelor. He's also lovely. Really can't complain for 6 stones. Bloodwretches: You still pay the merc tax, but it's pretty fun to hand them fast so you can charge, do +1 damage, and get card draw. Convict Gunslinger: You can reposition him and give him fast, which helps out a ton. I'd still rather have Sue though. Hans: He's a pretty great totem slayer. You can move him around a bit better with Nellie. Killjoy: Why would you take him? We don't want our models to die. Ronin: Disguised is fun and so is Stand Ground, but their actions are very meh. Nellie really likes making great models even better. Big Jake: He's pretty nice at-cost. Envy: He consistently performs well beyond my expectations. Strongarm Suit: I'm not a huge fan of the guy, but with the hat/Nellie's healing/free AP, he gets pretty obnoxious. Within the Guild: Dr. Grimwell: Great. You can get him up the board and get him a focus for Lobotomy. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of him. Nurse Heartsbane: Really suit greedy. She's pretty fine with Sonnia though. Francisco: Need I say more? Abuela: A solid model that loves more AP/free mobility. You can do all sorts of things with her. Austringers: Still very, very solid models. They like fast just as much as others. Phiona: She's brutal and great with Transparency. Master Queeg: More scheme markers? More 0's? If you say so....
  2. In defense of Nurse Heartsbane: She's definitely quite greedy for suits, but I'm loving her as a bodyguard for Sonnia. You can whack Sonnia for 2 damage and a 6" move versus the max 5 of Hermanos De Armas, which she'll just heal off with the Brutal Effigy. Her conditions are debilitating, but costly in terms of suits. Most of our models don't care though and are quite effcient, where a suit popping up is just some added damage to the slaughter. She can completely shut down just about any beater (currently enjoying it the most against Jack Daw).
  3. Even with Jack's stuff, you get a + to attack because he's Wp 6+ and a + to damage from Papa. Then it's just Ca 7 or 9 versus Df 4. Stone for a plus if you really want but you'll get that damage through.
  4. @Ludvig So don't take him if you suspect that/keep him hidden? Perdita does a much better job of screwing Outcasts over anyway (except maybe Jack Daw, but that's because Sonnia negates his defenses).
  5. Quoted the wrong thing. @Ludvig Having just tried it, Sonnia tabled Sandeep and though Sonnia went down to the Valedictorian (his last model), Loco avenged her by killing himself and the shameful student. It feels much more satisfying to fit Abuela in over a Death Marshal.
  6. I did not know that I needed this in my life. I'm currently trying to get even more out of Bishop with Nellie, but a functional 7 AP is hard to beat. I'm also trying to play Papa with Sonnia without the box. It feels more volatile since Abuela can be put on the Marshal's old slot, but far more devastating if something gets too close to Papa and Criid.
  7. Lucius, Emissary, Phiona, Scribe, Francisco. 3 sources of min 3, bury/slingshot shenanigans, and so many (1) push everybody out of combat and be frustrating. I got to try this today: 50 SS Guild Crew Nellie Cochrane + 5 Pool - Embedded (1) - Guild Funds (1) - Delegation (1) The Printing Press (3) Francisco Ortega (8) - Wade In (1) - Numb To The World (1) Bishop (10) - A Debt To The Guild (1) Abuela Ortega (7) - Hair Trigger (1) Guild Austringer (6) Field Reporter (4) Field Reporter (4) Against Seamus. Gave Bishop the hat, pushed Abuela up, then Nellie gained 1 evidence, put a marker in front of Abuela as she gained fast, then gave Bishop fast and threw him up to the marker (ram to avoid burning). Bishop ended up across the board charging Hayreddin while Abuela rapid fired a crooligans, then a nurse and doxy.
  8. Got to play two games today. The first was: Standard Deployment, Headhunter , Claim Jump, Dig Their Graves, Accusation, Covert Breakthrough, and Show of Force. I took Hoffman into McMourning. Not only was I super impressed with the improved Guardian (who completely outshined the Warden), but Show of Force (Ryle, Peacekeeper), and Claim Jump were quite easy. My opponent took Dig Their Graves and Accusation, but the Peacekeeper wouldn't go down or let Scheme Markers come through. The other was Standard, Headhunter, Dig Their Graves, Frame for Murder, Claim Jump, and others. I took Lucius with Phiona, Francisco, the Emissary, a Sarge, the Scribe, and some Hounds. I was against Som'er with a Bayou spam list. Phiona is remarkable at Dig with Transparency. She two shot almost everything, dropping markers as she went. As discussed, the Sarge did claim jump on his own in a corner and the Hounds just ran around to confuse my opponent and grab heads. I'm hoping to get a few games in with Sonnia this week as well.
  9. While I respect your theory, I really hope Reva isn't the Grim Reaper or anything of the sort. I hope she stays a humble, somewhat twisted peacekeeper like she's presented. None of the masters have the goal of actual peace except for Reva and Molly (and Kirai pre-Court of Two). I'd love for future stories about her to explore how she feels about her powers and how Vincent feels about her/her powers as time passes, especially if she gets into a turf war with anybody else in the Quarantine Zone. A ceasefire zone in Malifaux would be really interesting, as long as it doesn't get the Falling Skies treatment.
  10. I don't feel that Kaeris really needs tweaking. She's got a lot of pretty great stuff in her kit. My only issue is that Gunsmiths feel like they hit far too well for 7SS.
  11. I don't know about this. The game really doesn't need an expansion book this year. A fluff compendium though.... I hope Gencon just features what's not currently in the range, the Divergent Paths stuff, and the rest will probably be The Other Side.
  12. Fun fact: I've never watched the show. The name comes from elsewhere, but people always assume. Instead of a robo-dog, just a ruthless Guild officer, possibly named Ramsey. Kennel Master: Guild Hounds within Aura 6" may not be pushed/placed/obeyed (1) They haven't eaten yet (Ca x : TN x + y) Friendly hounds within Aura 6 may charge for (1)
  13. To bring the thread back to the topic, what are some things that people would like to see changed/added to the Guild? Personally, I'd love to see a Guardsman Kennel Master or something similar that buffs hounds/make them interact via his AP. I was hoping for this over Guard Seargeants, but now that they can dominate Claim Jump they're better. I'd also like to see Lady J's upgrades get tweaked (take off Limited, reduce cost, maybe a thematic one for the Judge that buffs Marshal's).
  14. My bad, was thinking of her trigger upgrade, Vendetta.
  15. While I do like this idea, what I'd really like to see is Justice Unleashed go down in price/not be limited. I'd also like an in-theme upgrade for Death Marshals/The Judge similar to how Carlos Vasquez has an upgrade based on if he's run in-theme (take off the gun on Stand For Justice/give Marshals a slight Ca buff?) or a better generic Guild Marshal/Witch Hunter upgrade. Death Marshal Recruiters do help her out a fair bit though and I'm quite happy to see them in the game.
  16. Phiona with Transparency is going to be my go-to for a lot of things. Sadly, she can't get Dig Their Graves with one AP, but she's still great. My only complaint about these is that Frame for Murder is going to be a lot more common. My go-to is the Guild Pathfinder. He's quite frustrating for some opponents and usually wreaks havoc before earning 2-3 VP off of Frame. Last Stand is going to be quite fun with the Ortegas. I don't know about Hoffman, because I usually only run 2 Henchmen/Enforcers with him. McCabe getting a bit shafted needing to just take 4 wounds is sad, but it's revenge for being able to Deliver the Message on Turn 1 while Sidir made you all but immune to it. I tried a game out last night against Brewmaster (I was Hoffman) with Tail'em. Brewie tied up a Peacekeeper that would just try to flurry, then I'd save a high card to (0) to spot him. Eliminate the Leadership is quite frustrating with both Brewie and Wesley though.
  17. I misread things. The above post has a point.
  18. @4thstringer What do you mean? People have had access to at least the Ripples of Fate book for awhile.
  19. While the scheme part is less relevant due to it just being Covert Breakthrough and Search the Ruins, Loop Holes is still quite good for ignoring most of the annoying things in Malifaux. Getting around Anna Lovelace, Ashes and Dust's pulses, Clockwork Traps, Brewmaster, Ironsides, and plenty more is quite nice for a stone.
  20. He is definitely a strong model, but there are things that can be done against it. Like the other riders/Perdita/Izamu/Howard, Yasunori requires a clear path and LoS to any target. Flight helps, but it still needs a path to charge. One option is to block it off/bog it down. You said you play Neverborn, so Waldgeists are an excellent option, as are Lilith and the Emissary. If you can't put him in a corner, build a corner where he is. If he's being run with Asami, don't forget that you can obey him (I know he has stubborn) to charge at Asami for (1) and hurt her in the process. Lastly, accept that models are going to die in your game, but work to mitigate those losses to things that won't score you VP.
  21. I've only played two games with the new Lucius so far, but Phiona Gage has been a star. I run her with the generic Journalist upgrade, Transparency, (she already has the tome built in), so she can put out scheme markers after succeeding. Then go ahead and use What Lackeys Are For to slingshot any other model (Francisco is always great, but even the Executioner and Peacekeeper are finding some new life with me here). It overlaps a bit with how I play Nellie, but being able to Double Walk with Lucius then force an Enfretate a Mi! or a Look Out! is wonderful. Still not quite sold on the Emissary with him (it's a recent pickup and I'm used to the overloaded Carrion Emissary), but there's a lot of potential. Next I'm going to try walking Lucius, targetting himself to take another, targetting the Emissary to scoop up Phiona, then charging an activated model if I can. Then when it's convenient, activate the emissary, walk/charge/Look Out! to get some bonus Phiona hits in before unburying her and going to town. It doesn't benefit from Elite Training, but it hasn't really impacted being able to drop 3 ML 6 min 3 beasts off on turn 2. For added fun, take Guild Hounds/Field Reporters and wait your opponent out.
