  1. I'll post up pictures in a bit, but for my pledge for the month I'll be working on my Shenlong crew. The goal: at least one of each monk keyworded model! (minus Fermented, Peasent and Sensei Yu) Altogether : Shenlong (15ss) Thunder Archer (6ss) High River Monk (5ss) Low River Monk (4ss) Wandering River Monk (7ss) Lotus Eater (6ss) Charm Warder (5ss) Tanuki (bonus model! 5ss) Total points is 53ss. As a personal goal I'm also going to try and paint a bit better than table top. Going to try some new techniques, like free hand tattoos for Shenlong and the Lotus Eaters for example.
  2. Congrats @Stranglelove! Well deserved!
  3. @Athiko Haha, I was thinking the same thing when I saw your updates earlier. Great minds think alike I guess.
  4. Alright here are my models for the month. Original pledge was for three warped, but I ended up painting a bit more. Group shot: Decided not to do the glow on the big guy. My dry brush is pretty much dead. So the osl is going to have to wait till I get a new one, but for now I'm happy with them. Test model for my crow runners, and the last model I need for my Jack Daw crew. Last couple models I need for my Parker Crew. Total comes out to 49 stones. Not particularly happy with the photos. I need to get a better camera. In other news I finished up the last models I needed in order to submit my henchman application.
  5. @Caedrus the warped are done and all of the extra models except for Johanna are done. Just need to take pictures. I should be able to get the pictures and final points total up tomorrow.
  6. I don't know who or what it would be for, but Miss Draw is begging to be used. Maybe Lynch? For ToS, not sure. I like the Fenton idea. Maybe Miss Spell? Couldn't really come up with a good crazy/shaken pun.
  7. @Viruk Thanks for the kind words! And I have to say, that's probably the best painted fur that I've ever seen.
  8. Derp. Might help if I add the link. Edited the first post with it.
  9. Some of the pictures are posted here in this thread. edit: From the looks of it we're getting a two player starter set featuring The Guild and The Court of Two. There's also artwork for two new factions. One new Earth side faction: The Three Kingdoms, and one new Malifaux faction: (something I can't really make out but it starts with a 'k' i think).
  10. @Nikodemus, and @Burnin' Coal thanks for the kind words. And Coal, I did run into that issue with the paint. I was surprised because a lot of people said it was supposed to go on smooth, but I had to water it down quite a bit, especially the Tesla blue. In any case though I should be wrapping up the third warped today which means I should be finished with my pledge for the month! @Chou nicely done! I love the highlighting on it. @prof_bycid looking good as well! On a separate topic I'm running out of shows to watch, Anyone have a new shows to recommend? Netflix just put out a bunch of new stuff recently.
  11. I haven't tested it yet, but I've heard a lot of people complaining about The Guilty. According to a lot of folks, they seem to not really be worth their cost, and they seem to have an unclear role. I haven't seen much discussion on the Tormented crew since the last update so if someone has more experience please correct me.
  12. Got my new scale 75 paints in. So I thought I'd try them out. They're different than I thought they'd be and it's going to take some practice to get used to them. Overall I think it turned out well. Although I'm not particularly happy with how I highlighted the arm. Still fine enough for now. Still need to do the flames, but I'll get to that soon. Also progress pic of the first Warped. I'll probably go with the flow mouth/eyes idea. Seemed like pretty solid plan. I might also do some blue on the spikes all over the body.
  13. Was finally able to get some priming done the other day. Painting in Maine during the winter is not an easy task... Started working on one of the warped. Got the skin mostly done, and I've got the base coat on the pants done. I could you some help on hashing out the scheme though. My idea for these guys is to go for ash-y looking skin and for worn out cloths that are some mixture of red, orange, or yellows (its cult of the burning man, so I figured that would make sense). It doesn't have to be straight for those colors. The paints in this picture are a brown, that I'm going to hit with a wash to add some more color into. The other think I want to do is add some osl "magic" like effects. My plan is to use the complimentary color to whatever colors are used in the cloths. So for example if this guy has orange pants, he would have a blue glow. The problem is I'm not really sure where to add the glow for this guy. For something like the doomseekers its fairly obvious on where to put it. For this guy I'm having some difficulties figuring it out. If anyone has any advice for this guy specifically or the theme as whole I'd love to hear it.
  14. Ya, I just got my Cult and Abyssinia recently. Finally putting the first few models on the painting table this month. I finally decided to use the vallejo earth textures to base my guys. Someone (can't remember the name unfortunately) had some nicely painted Abyssinia with desert bases. The stuff looks pretty sweet, so I picked up a jar of sand for my Abby's, and a jar of Earth for my Cult.
  15. I'd like to join at the henchmen level if that's alright. Meant to join last month but I was too busy painting. 😉 Going to try and paint up a fire team of Warped from TOS to test out a paint scheme. Will probably end up painting more than that but lets see how it goes.
  16. Just picked up my Goryshche recently. Thought it'd be a good idea to start up some discussion on how best to use our flaming hydra dragon. So go ahead and share your useful tips, tricks, and tactica.
  17. Looking for some advice on how to go about basing ToS models, specifically squads, and the multi bases. I was planning on going for a simple cobblestone bases, and I figured some form of greenstuff or milliput would work but I was curious what other people's experiences were. I've used greenstuff before and I've thought about getting a press roller for the cobblestones. I'm just not sure how economical it is to base a whole army with greenstuff. I've also heard of people using milliput but I've never worked with it. So I don't really know what it's like to work with. What have you guys been using to base your armies?
  18. Those warped are looking beautiful so far. Can't wait to see them when they're finished!
  19. Recently got my cult starter in the mail and I can't wait to get these guys on the painting table. Been trying to dig up some examples of painted cult models to get some ideas, but so far I haven't had much luck. So I figured I'd start a thread here and try and encourage some people to share their work. So let's see some of those lovely models folks. Go on and show off what you've been working on. I'll try and post up my stuff once I get some painting time in.
  20. Horde was one of the factions I was looking at. The other faction I was thinking was Abyssinia. I'm just not sure which would provide the most balanced demo game. I do like the suggestion for one Earth side faction. So I might go with Abyssinia for that reason.
  21. I recently started looking back into this game now that it's been released and it looks like a lot of fun. Was thinking of trying to get a meta going and I figured the best way the to do that was to offer some demos. What are some good recommendations for demoing The Other Side? Stuff like point sizes, how many units, things to keep in mind, what factions to use. Personally I'm really interested in the cult. I mean, who doesn't like magic fire rhinos? So I'm definitely going to pick up their starter box. I was also planning to pick up another faction for demoing, but I don't know what would pair well with the cult. I'm also not sure if I need to pick up other units in order to really demo the game or if the starter boxes are enough. I'd appreciate any advice people have for giving a demo of the other side.
  22. An alt version of shenlong with a more dynamic pose would be pretty cool. Maybe in a transparent plastic, with some dragon thing around him. That way you could paint in shenlong and have this cool spirit dragon around him. Sensei Yu would also be a good choice. Edit: I know McCabe just got an alt model but it would be great to see a Miss Adventure.
  23. So why do other ways of gaining extra upgrades sometimes specify that they ignore all other restrictions? Such as Sensei Yu's promising disciple.
  24. So Jack Daw's new upgrade says that when a guilty model is killed jack may "Choose a Cursed Upgrade that this model does not have attached and that is not attached to an enemy model." Does this allow him to attach the Suffocating Injustice? I'm assuming it doesn't since he's not an emissary of fate, and Growing doesn't say that you ignore restrictions. I also assume it doesn't let you go above your upgrade limit as well.
  25. I think she can have 10 upgrades (her 7 including the two new ones + 3 generic). Still its pretty funny to see a master with 10 upgrades rolling around. Meanwhile jack daw is crying in a corner...
