We are wrapping up our campaign with a finale tournament! The place is Outland Trondheim, the time i 5 PM on Tuesday 12th of June. Tuesday May 15th we start up Wartrond's very first Shifting Loyalties league. As it is the very first time we do this, we run standard rules, with the requirement that all games must take place at our club locales at Outland Trondheim, and max one game against each opponent each week. I got some reinforcements now, thralls will hit the painting table ASAP! Trying to limit myself to playing painted, it is a good way to force myself to get painting projects done.

Got another game in yesterday, I did a simple exchange and took out two guards in favour of another Austringer (I'm playing it painted, that somewhat dictates my choices). I felt that I had a better grasp at the positioning and using Lucius to move everything now, but we didn't get very far into the game. My opponent seemed to think he was playing Warmachine and sent both his Strongarm Suit and Kilroy after Lucius. Lucius spent a lot of stones, that he got back from saccing a guard and harming another, and then the Peacekeeper and the Austringers tore both his hitters into little pieces. Having lost his Bodyguard model and both his hitters and me only being down a guard and a few wounds, he conceeded. If nothing else, he learned that Austringers are hella good.

This actually sounds like a very interesting concept to try. If nothing else, to show off that Malifaux isn't first and foremost about killing models.

I don't care about my list being the "best" - we are a new meta, and we have no really good players yet. People are playing, trying things and having fun. Having fun is the important thing here - the list need not be perfect, but it needs to work in a way. The list I used made me think too much about my choices, and a lot of the time I felt that I was only positioning and keeping the opponent back, not working towards my own goals. So it wasn't as fun to play as it should be. We ended at 7-9, and agreed that it was a good learning experience for us both, so it was not a total waste.

Just to "defend" my choices - I painted the box for the local league and wanted to use as many as possible of the models, and I also wanted to see how the new, buffed Guild Guards fared. The Thralls I knew were good here, but the local store messed up the order and sent handlers instead... I have ordered Graves and a pack of Thralls now. Will start painting Frank and a couple of other models and give it another shot. For tomorrow's game I shall see if I can take something out and add another beatstick, an Executioner or whatever I have handy. The fact that Lucius can scare himself into moving blew my mind! That is a great trick! Also, my problem was not that the guards weren't fast enough, but that I held back and didn't move them up. I also hampered myself by avoiding the table center (we were playing Reconnoiter).

I have played one game so far. I felt like I was stumbling a lot in my own feet, and I didn't move up the table fast enough. Four guards didn't seem worth it, I think I rather want another Austringer. Quick question - How do you all understand this destiny line: "Once your vendetta is nigh upon the mountains" Is it a vendetta which strikes upon the player, or one the player inflicts on someone else?

I have four guild guards, that is probably a good start. Also thinking about it, I have a alternate edition Francisco, he has to come out and play. Any mimics I should look at for Lucius?

I'm running Guild as my second faction, and while it is tempting to GET ALL THE THINGS, I have already spent a fortune on Ressers, so I have to take it a bit more slow on Guild. Yet, I'd love for the masters I do have to be playable. So how should I flesh out my collection to do something fun with what I have? Currently I have Sonnia, Lucius and McMourning boxes, Executioners, Austringers, Death Marshals, Exorcists and Guild Guards. How do I turn these in to well balanced, fun to play crews?
