  1. The biggest potential issues are probably with some of the weapons and occasionally suits on magic. Off the top of my head, keep an eye on the Into the Steam weapons and check them against the new corebook, and take a look at suits on spells. For the most part, the new corebook magic pursuits and magia assumes that all Sorcery uses tomes, Necromancy uses crows, etc, and some stuff from the older books (Gremlin bokur, IIRC) need to be tweaked so they work with the update.
  2. Generally a fan of the changes, but unsure why poor Ronin are still 6 stones.
  3. Not planning to demo any Through the Breach?
  4. I think that's quite unnecessary. Players being able to make their own gear is interesting, but those are skill points that aren't in more active or offensive skills. If they want to invest in blacksmithing, engineering, and whatnot, I'm happy to see them rewarded for it.
  5. Full disclosure: This was my wife's idea.
  6. Buff as hell female Von Schill. Or just an alt version with his new metal parts. Mannah. Heck, genderswapped versions of everyone else. Alt Librarian. New lady convict gunslinger.
  7. I was the Sandeep player in Sault's game. The 2/4/5 damage spread on a casting, no-suit-required, non-projectile ranged attack that often benefits from the + from a Commands in Wind'd gamin is brutal against someone relying on cover+incorporeal to keep their models alive, but it'd work well against just about any crew. His cache meant I had enough stones to do basically whatever I wanted all match, and there was never a time I felt like Sault could threaten Sandeep without exposing his entire crew...and maybe not getting the job done anyway. He's definitely an issue that needs to be addressed.
  8. For getting the Alt Sybelle (yay EB!), would the Through the Breach 2e Corebook count, or is it only Malifaux-proper purchases?
  9. When it comes to intelligent opponents, if they're not the Fight-to-the-death types, parlaying/surrendering/fleeing is also something to always consider.
  10. Are folks still being added, or is this basically full?
  11. Hey folks! I'm looking for anyone who has a 1e Colette avatar they're willing to part with. I'm willing to pay cash or arrange a trade, so if you have one, please contact me. Thanks!
  12. Just saw this! I'm from up in Pennsylvania with a small group. If you're ever up here, give a yell!
  13. Most of us are in Mechanicsburg, so we usually play at the Game Table Cafe. The only issue there is the 5$ cover/table rent, but it's a lovely place with great food and coffee. The owner was also kind enough to bring in terrain for us, which is great when we have multiple tables going.
  14. Hey! I know it's a bit of a drive, but several of us play in Harrisburg, and several more in Williamsport! If you're ever in the area or would like to arrange a game, please shoot me a PM.
  15. Yes. The rules about derived attributes give you the Suits, but not any plus flips.
  16. This is lovely! Thanks for putting it together.
  17. I've played her mostly in Ten Thunders. If you're looking for straight advantage I don't know if it's there, but there's a lot of neat stuff you can do. Komainu make great Railwalker targets and can become a huge pain for Casting heavy lists, Recalled Training makes a turn full of goofy Railwalker shenanigans a lot more foolproof, and Obsidian Oni are now out for making scrap markers out of just about anything your opponent fields. Between Tengu and Wastrels, you also have several opens for spot-healing Hard to Kill models. Many of your minion options are also in the 4 to 5 soulstone range, so when Reckoning is not on the table it's pretty easy to out activate many quality focused lists, while Mei Feng can shoot up and back taking out exposed, expensive targets. You can also do some dumb stuff with Toshiro, two snipers, and just running a bizarre, constantly Vent Steam'd gunline, but that's probably not a good idea.
  18. So, Through the Breach has a very serviceable set of rules for subordinate characters, and Malifaux is a setting with more than its fair share of mercenaries, soldiers of fortune, and folks just willing to take a rusty blade to a man for filthy lucre. Has there ever been any in-setting costs for hiring a bloke with sword or a squad of Freikorpsmen hinted at? It's the sort of thing that would be useful for play on several levels, but I can't recall seeing any.
  19. A bit late on the draw, but this is fantastically useful. Thanks for making it, and implementing the permalinks.
  20. I actually pare it down further. I've allowed either Pugilism or Martial Arts to be used instead, and don't use a separate grappling skill in my games. If any of the players wanted the skill triggers from Grappling, I'd let them just apply them to one of the other combat skills, as appropriate. Generally speaking, Through the Breach plays very quickly and smoothly. I don't see a reason to make one particular combat subsystem that much more complicated, unless you were running a game of the Malifaux Wrestling Association. ...Though now I rather want to do that.
  21. Would you mind talking about the design process? There's a fair bit of variation between a guy with -1/0/0/+1 and a guy with -1/-1/-1/+3 as it is; we were a bit surprised to see blatant superior numbers in the later books, too.
  22. I think the levels of abstraction involved with the whole combat system work pretty well. Through the Breach has a useful amount of detail for combat and gunplay, but not a huge, incredibly granular amount (It's no Twilight: 2000). If you have an engagement range with your gun through the Gunfighter talent or other means, you have the training/skill/ability to be able to take shots in close combat without issue. Otherwise, it's not happening usefully. If you do decide to add the ability for people to take shots in melee, it probably makes sense to either change or replace the Gunfighter talent. If everyone can take shots in melee, then it loses a lot of its usefulness.
  23. This is fantastic, and I hope to see it. The ongoing game I'm running could certainly use them.
