  1. Head over to this Facebook group to view the event details. https://fb.me/e/GnaYZqQV Post any questions there, or direct message me through this forum. I hope some of you will come for an adventure to the North.
  2. The boss himself, having a convincing conversation with one of his regulars.
  3. Beauty and horror can be found in equal measure.
  4. Gambling is not the only temptation at the Honeypot Lounge!
  5. An unwitting soul has fallen one of Gwyneth’s alluring card tricks.
  6. Mr. Tannen demonstrating some sleight of hand.
  7. Sometimes, the real business happens in the alleys of Malifaux. The aim for this paint job was to explore some extreme cold vs. hot lighting. Moonlight and lamplight seemed to fit nicely into the Brilliance theme of Jacob’s crew. Almost all done with airbrush. Only the two highlight layers of blue, and the hot side white were done with regular brush styles.
  8. Perry miniatures does a good job of samurai and ashigaru models. These might be especially suited for the terracotta treatment... https://www.google.ca/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&ved=&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.perry-miniatures.com%2Fimages%2Fsam%2Fsam%2023.jpg&psig=AFQjCNHI7UAlXe5whGUD-f1svniEfPxq2g&ust=1470933706322821&cad=rjt
  9. The Dawn Serpent is my guy! He is a beast! (literally) and always does great work for me. Elegant model that captures the oriental dragon imagery perfectly. I think of him like a mobile bombing platform. His counterspell ability comes into play more often than you'd think, and his self heal always keeps him around. Few others that I know of make use of him. In fact, I have only seen him hanging out with Marcus, otherwise. My hate goes to the Illuminated. I recognize that are resilient as 'all get out' and have other serviceable functions. I see them quite a bit in Henchman hardcore, and even with other non-Lynch crews. My primary opposition to them is their aesthetic. They are just simply UGLY. Most of my attraction to 10T in particular is the oriental stylings and mythos. As such, these Illuminated have no place in there visually, and I will not field them.
  10. As a Brewmaster prodigy, I quite enjoy what I'm seeing. If it's not too late though, could we perhaps get some longer moustachios? And here's an idea for the one who is pausing for a drink... Instead of the curled finger, extend it. As if he's silently saying "Hang on a sec. I gotta finish this jug first."
  11. I have been bested by the best, spectrehorseman. Congrats on advancing. To your next opponent: better be planning a museum piece to compete with this guy!
  12. Ahhh, gremlins! So much winning!
  13. I feel the same. I was reticent to glue my model in place on the diorama base of my entry, too. After the competition, I'll likely peel him off to re-base it.
  14. Disagree with you here. Whiskey can certainly be interpreted as liquid gold for the tongue! ...and there certainly are enough fools around.
  15. What a fun surprise for the curious adventurer!
  16. Sadly the gold is lost in photographic translation. It comes through as a sickly green instead. I hope the judges can appreciate the effort and technique that got you there.
  17. "Wonder where these nuggets came from?" This may be the most unexpected form of prospecting. Anxiously awaiting what Wargamer101 has to offer against this. Which of us will get the GOLD? Which of us will be the FOOL?
  18. My solution was to just leave it out. He still turned out alright...
  19. The Misaki crew box is all done now, although I may return to painting some imagery on the cloth of both Ototo and Misaki before i call them finished. You'll notice that i used Ototo's blast with Misaki to tie in better with her totem, Shang. I am thinking about a lotus bloom on misaki's pants. For Ototo, perhaps a serpentine dragon. I'm concerned that on such a small scale, the dragon may just end up looking like a simple snake instead. So, for the time being, here are a couple of Misaki shots.
  20. Ten Thunders have a fair number of 'killy' models like Misaki, Ototo, and torakage. In my limited experience, adverse conditions like slow, paralyze, (and 2 a lesser extent mutiple poison or burning conditions) can greatly hamper thier effectiveness. For past encounters, I have used things like Oiran and Shang as supporting elements. I have monks on order from the local shop, so I'm eager to try them as substitutes for these other support models. I'm beginning to beleive that monks will keep my killy models more effective overall. Thus, I won't miss any of the small damage potential that could be done by Oiran.
  21. Fuhatsu got his first action for me this afternoon against Sonia Criid in a Turf War game. I simply marched him up into the void left by Sonia's blasting of my minions in the centre of the board. He then parked his ass there and sprayed down enemies as they closed in. With Armour +2 and Hard to Wound, he soaked up an exceptional amount of fiery casting from Sonia and Hopkins. The zero cost heal pushes him into amazing resilience. Admittedly, I did dodge the pine box of the Death Marshal on 2 occasions with some luck. I found that I was more than willing to spend soulstones on ensuring the Ram, so that he could repeat his shooting attack. In the end, he killed 3 enemy models and soaked up in inordinate amount of attention. All the while maintaining an immovable claim on the turf war strategy. Obviously, if you're chasing markers around the board, he may not be as effective. Until that time, I'm sure I'll choose him over Ototo or Lone Swordsman in the future.
  22. I just finished painting Fuhatsu last night, so I'll be taking him out with Misaki on sunday. Depending on the schemes in play, I envision sitting tight for the first 2 turns while he sprays the enemy down. Then I'll spring the torakage at anything that comes to tie up Fuhatsu. I'll summarize the action for you next week to compare my expectations with actual results.
  23. I've followed this up with Shang - the firefox. I find painting flame a tricky thing, as I have to work from light to dark. Most of the painting I do is the opposite.
  24. Photographing models is another part of the hobby that I must improve at. Somehow it's very tough for me to find a reasonable lighting tent locally. My internet options all seem to require exorbitant shipping costs, so I may have to create one myself. Once I can achieve a better quality photo, I can work on framing and lighting subtleties like you're suggesting.
  25. I picked these models up a couple of months ago, solely for the sake of painting cool models. Upon scouring the interwebs for inspiration (including getting questioned by the wife 'Why are you looking at geisha girl pictures?"), I settled on something I'm pleased with. Biggest challenge with these models is how delicate they are. My difficulties were in keeping thier tiny feet glued to the base while painiting. The cherry blossoms were simple enough to paint, and I found a visual backdrop that matched well. Those screens were made by just painting balsa wood frames black, then cutting out the paper after the frames are glued in place.
