  1. As Adran says, McMourning is resource use light. As a player, and opponents, of McMourning crews, be careful of over extending too early, and be careful with Sebastian. Honestly, when I'm facing McMourning, Sebastian is priority #1, and McMourning is #2. ?
  2. With the original book schemes that scored at the end of game it was useful, but now that most schemes score per turn it's more situational. I prefer to just give McMourning Decaying Aura.
  3. Slightly different than @Mr_Roy. I start with Oathkeeper, Highwayman, and Hail of Bullets. I tend to use Oathkeeper Turn 1 or Two, then buy Stick Up to replace Oathkeeper. I like the trigger on Hail of Bullets to give me Enemy Scheme Markers with Stick Up, which means I'm not having to eat up my SS to pay for rebuying it typically, and for the severe/hazardous terrain. From there I just roll with whatever is needed for upgrades.
  4. First off, Welcome to Malifaux and I hope you enjoy the game. It's rather hard to give a set "crew" as what you need or want will likely change game to game due to the variation of strategy and schemes per game. That said, the Lilith and Lynch crew boxes work well together. Illuminated from Lynches box work well with any Neverborn master in and of themselves, because they are so resilient while still being able to pack a mean punch. The Terror Tots and Barbaros are also good with most crews, Lynch in particular loves the Tots as scheme runners as that's the main thing his box lacks and these are especially attuned to him with his Ace mechanics to allow them to Sprint more often than normal successfully. As for things to get for one or both crews, my primary suggestions are: Doppelganger - #1 most recommended, and most used, model in Neverborn. She's a toolbox that allows you to copy most non-leader actions (minus actions that name a target, such as summoning) in the game, friend or foe, she has good movement, can interact while engaged, can cheat initiative flips to go first each turn, etc. Primordial Magic - Totem that works very well with Lilith and Pandora if you decide to ever pick her up, though not with Lynch as Hungering Darkness is his Totem and a much better value by far, but is restricted to him alone. Gives an additional Rush of Magic (card cycle at the start of each turn), can make enemies insignificant (unable to interact, such as dropping scheme markers to score), and can count as a scheme marker itself. Lilitu - Solid enforcer, large melee of 4", Regeneration of health, and has a Lure to pull people out of position. I prefer her, even in Lynch crews, to Beckoners, as she is more resilient and has a higher casting Lure, so it's easier to achieve, though Beckoners can work very well with any crew, and for starting models will work nicely in both Lilith and Lynch crews. She's also an Enforcer which means she can carry upgrades for Show of Force scoring as well. Waldgeist - Tanky style minions who can drop soft cover terrain. They are armored, which is something Neverborn has little access too, so can catch an opponent by surprise with their resilience. They work well in any crew, to be honest, as they are just solid little models who can run schemes, hold areas, or create cover to help protect your models from projectile attacks. Mr. Graves - Solid hitting enforcer. He's hard to kill, also armored, and has a push ability to move friendlies or enemies around. He works very well in any crew, especially with the Doppelganger as she can copy his push, thereby making your own crew more mobile by pushing people up field early as needed, or pushing enemies away which can help control table quarters or turf war sections (movement and board control play heavily into my preferred style of play and can really screw up your opponent). You can make a decent 50SS list for both Lilith & Lynch crews by picking up their boxes, Doppelganger, Mr. Graves, and a box of Beckoners which will give you quite a few various things to build around once you start mixing and matching the boxes together. Those few purchases make it as least expensive as possible to start (taking into account if you want to buy two crew boxes as once) while also giving you access to models that are highly useful in just about every Neverborn Crew, no matter the master. I would also suggest, though not as necessary straight away, that you pick up the General Upgrades #1 & #2 boxes so you have all the generic Neverborn faction upgrades (Namely Wings of Darkness for Lilith, Retribution's Eye for enforcers, Mimic's Blessing, Thousand Faces, Fears Given Form, etc that are all highly useful for you guys).
  5. Just won with Lilith vs Zip, fighting for the child. I do believe the kid was impressed by my changeling and doppelganger (Not my opponent though. He was not happy about either).
  6. Granted life happens and we all get to more important things than hobbies, but you seriously missed the whole GenCon information dump as well as the past month of drooling and fanboy nerd-splosions over the new masters? Please tell me this is sarcasm. *chuckles*
  7. About the same as me. My local meta has been me and one other for the past 2 years. He plays Ressers...I play 4 different factions (all but Guild, Gremlins, and 10T though 10T are next in line starting in 2017). I do play a lot of vassal games though, so I have faced anything and everything over the course of my stint in Malifaux at least.

  10. @Izzinatah Though I'm not a gremlin player nor ever plan to be, it would be interesting if one of the above gained enough gremlin wins/traits that the final outcome was an artistic change over to gremlins. I'm just picturing the lady as another female gremlin, or the gentleman with the top hand and monocle as a gremlin (though the gentle would then be a skinny version of Som'er )
  11. As I said, I don't particular care for net listing. That's a personal thing though as I feel it's one step toward a de-evolution of a game system into a WAAC Power gamer fest which is why I stopped long ago playing 40K and Fantasy competitively, but that was an entirely different game system and *cough* balancing system. It's also why I came to Malifaux because of the appeal of the "build on the fly" style of game play prior to each game instead of just showing up with your pre-built list. I just really don't want to see a game system I enjoy so much go down that path. My feelings aside though, I am curious how much of this (pre-built or net listing) is more U.S. based vs U.K. based for example. We, the U.S. players, are cursed by wide swathes of geographic separation, so that when we do congregate for an event are more ill-prepared for certain match ups due to lack of steady and diverse competition within our own local metas. The U.K. on the other hand have a smaller geographic boundary, more events overall (damn near weekly), and are able to experience a wider variety of game play. Do the U.K. Master players make All-Comers lists, or do you build ala carte to fit each games schemes, and by that I mean maybe taking a core crew, and filling in the last 10SS to 25SS as you see fit depending on the strat/schemes, terrain, and opponent's faction?
  12. All I have to say to this is hell no. That takes half the skill out of it to me, which is observing the terrain, the strat/schemes, and a general idea (faction) of what the opponent it bringing and adapting on the fly. Net listing and power gaming (which ended up hand in hand) are why I quit playing 40k and WHFB and came to Malifaux. It was more strategic, more thought inducing. If it ends up going to nothing but flavor of the week online lists like GW games, then I'll be heartbroken. The lack of pre-built lists is a large chunk of the appeal to me in this game.

  14. If I played gremlins I'd rather spend 4SS less and buy a Rooster Rider who is more likely to do more damage and be a bigger target for the same effect.
  15. True. I keep forgetting about it...mainly because I've found it (playing against it) a rather large waste of points, even with the new upgrade. It REALLY needed an increase to close combat range (at least 2") and maybe something like Immune to Poison, similar to the Rail Golem's Immune to Fire so that Brewmaster doesn't keep wounding it each round and because it's fluffy...it's a giant barrel of whiskey, yet whiskey hurts it FFS! So, basically, it can only carry around water and diet-coke, otherwise it's killing itself.
  16. NB haven't had crews, but we have had Nightmare Dreamer and Nightmare Teddy (along with a Miss Teddy...I love them, but I am really sick of Teddy rehashes). That's why I said I'd really be for a nightmare gremlin set (which I don't even play, nor will ever play as I don't care for them). It would be the most fair to me, or hit both at once and do a nightmare Zoraida set, but I can't even think of anything (that's safe for work) that's more horrifying than my old pewter, saggy boobs Zoraida.
  17. Both can. Necropunk places marker on left side, next turn leaps 6 inches and places on right side. 30mm base is over an inch wide, so both markers are roughly 7" apart. Crooligan drops one, places 5" away. You do not have to place his whole base within the 5", just at least part of it. Place just the barest edge. Next turn drop another on on furthest side from first obe. Both are just ove 6" apart and stay.

The "don't swing her sword" approach is how I started playing her and still do(mainly because the first couple of games I just wasn't in a position to, so I just dropped trees and cast Wicked Vines from behind a wall, and used her lure from Wicked Mistress, then realized how powerful those simple actions alone were). I highly recommend trying it as she is far more of a tool box master than just a beater or Grow list model (which I still haven't tried after nearly three years of playing her as the prospect of doing so feels like it limits her too much for me to even consider taking in a game).
  19. I like the Dead Outlaw models. I was planning on using my Undead Death Marshals from the Dead Justice box as mine (The two marshals that don't have pine boxes on the models). Tell me how they fair with Jack for you as I plan to try that out after I do some more games with Parker.
  20. I played an intro game vs @RedHood yesterday. He was learning Ramos in a 35SS game. I believe he was able to summon 10 arachnids throughout the game, so by game's end that was 40SS extra worth of models.
  21. Summoning in a sub-50SS game. The Malifaux equivalent of "Just the Tip."
  22. I play it as touching one marker. It's two markers side by side. When removed you place A single mindless zombie in base contact. (still don't get where people try to put two zombies down with this)
  23. It was a fun game. We'll have to do it again sometime.
