  8. Tournament Time!!! This one is at Geek Out Games in Central, SC. It starts at 3pm. LINK TO EVENT: https://www.facebook.com/events/1232915190147235/?context=create&previousaction=create&sid_create=3394435701&action_history=[{"surface"%3A"group"%2C"mechanism"%3A"groups_composer"%2C"extra_data"%3A[]}%2C{"surface"%3A"create_dialog"%2C"mechanism"%3A"group_create_dialog"%2C"extra_data"%3A[]}]&has_source=1 It's Halloween in Malifaux, and that can only mean one thing: IT'S TIME TO SMASH SOME PUMPKINS!!!!!!!! This tournament is going to be a 35 Soulstone, fixed crew tournament. The strategy will be the same for all three rounds, but the schemes will be randomly determined each round. Entry Fee: NONE, it's free! There will be prizes for 1st - 3rd place, as well as a random drawing. Everyone who participates will get a Guilder! If you show up in a Malifaux themed costume, you will get an additional Guilder!!! The best painted crew will receive an additional Guilder! STRATEGY: PUMPKIN BASH!!! Set Up: While deploying models, each player places three 50mm, Ht 1, Severe, Soft Cover Pumpkin Markers on their side of the table not in their deployment zone, and at least 10" from another friendly Marker. These markers cannot be placed in base contact with impassable terrain. Special Rules: On every Turn after the first, non-Peon models gain the following (1) Interact Action: (1) Smash Pumpkin: Target a Pumpkin Marker within 1" on the opponent's side of the board. Remove the targeted Marker from play and gain 1 VP. No more than 1 VP may be scored from this Action per Turn. At the end of the game, a Crew gains 1 VP if they have any Pumpkin Markers left on their side of the table.
  9. I LOVED this battle report!!!!! You definitely need to keep doing these! It was cool to read through and re-live our game! It was a VERY close, and VERY fun game!!!
  10. It's my Birthday*, so what better way to celebrate than by having a Malifaux tournament (don't answer that, it was rhetorical)!!! This will be a 50ss, Fixed faction, GG2017 tournament. Entry cost is $5, most of which goes to prize support. There will be prizes for 1st-3rd place, Best Painted Crew, and a random drawing for prizes as well. Registration is at 1pm. Cards flip at 1:30. The tournament will be held at Geek Out Games in Central, SC. on Sept. 16th. *Presents for your wonderful Henchman are optional. ;P
  11. Summer is here and that can mean only one thing.... it's time for a campaign league!!!! COST: NONE!!! It's totally free!!! ( I do recommend getting a Shifting Loyalties Campaign deck, though) THE LEAGUE: This is going to be a 4 week League, (July 14th - Aug 5th) with game nights happening on Fridays at 6pm and Saturdays at 3pm (don't worry if you can't make both, it won't really affect you). We are going to be using a modified version of the Shifting Loyalties Campaign System. You will get to improve your crew as you play games by adding new skills, special equipment, and new models to your crew, but be careful, your crew can also get serious injuries! Bad things happen, after all... THE RULES: Starting crew size is a Master + 35 pts worth of models, soulstones, and upgrades as normal. This is your starting crew, which (barring some unforseen catastophe) you will have available to use throughout the whole league. You will be able to add additional models as the campaign goes on. Each game that you play, you can earn "Scrip" that you can use to buy upgrades, skills, equipment, and add new models to your crew. You earn scrip by completing a weekly objective, and by scoring victory points during your games (2 VP = 1 Scrip) (rounded up). I'll post the weekly events in advance here. We will be using the story encounters found in the main rulebook, and the GG2017 schemes. The bigest difference here is that you can CHOOSE any scheme that you want from ALL the GG2017 schemes!!! Every week will be a different story encounter, and I'll post those here as well. THE PRIZES: I will have full prize support from WYRD, which includes special edition models, card boxes, stat cards, etc... Everyone will receive a Guilder (which you can turn in 5 or more of to get a special model) just for showing up at least once during the League! WOW, that was a wall of text!!! See you guys on the Other Side!
  12. What happened to the Terracotta Warriors?
  13. This is going to be a 3 round, 50ss Gaining Grounds 2017 Tournament. It will be using a 125ss pool of models and upgrades, with up to 3 Masters in the pool, that you use to build your crews each round. For summoning, you MUST have access in your hiring pool to at least one of the model that you wish to summon, but may then summon any number of them during the game (example: Ramos must have at least one Steam Arachnid in his pool, but then may summon any number of them during the game.) There is no painting requirement, though it is strongly encouraged to play with painted crews. I will have full prize support from Wyrd, with models, Guilders, and winners certificates. Depending on how many players I get will depend on what models I will have for prizes. I will also have extra prizes for Best Painted and Best Sport. There will be a $5 entry fee, that will all be going towards store credit for the winners. Hope to see you all there!
  14. New Year, New League! We are going to be doing a different kind of League this time around! It is going to be an 8 week Shifting Loyalties Campaign League! For those of you who don't know what that means, it's a type of growth league that you start off with a set crew (led by a Henchman) of 35ss (you have to pay for the Henchman too) and a limit of 1 upgrade. Choose your starting line-up carefully, as they'll need to be able to accomplish a wide variety of schemes and strategies. From there, you will earn Guild Scrip for every game that you play, up to a max of 16 per week, that can be used to upgrade(!!!) your crew with new equipment and skills and add new crew members each week! Be careful though, because if a model is defeated ("killed") in a game, they can receive injuries that can last until they can get in to see the Doctor! During the league, you'll all be competeing to see who can build the coolest hideout for your crew. You can earn "construction materials" in each game that you play, that can be used to build your hideout! May the best crew win!!! Entry fee: Buy a "shifting Loyalties Campaign Deck" WYR20030 **If you buy one from Geek Out, you'll get a $5 off $25 or more coupon to use for future purchases! Times: Saturdays around 4pm, Feb. 11th - April 1st, (or other times if you can arrange for a game) at Geek Out Games. Prizes: The crew with the best hideout will get a Limited edition Root beer Translucent Nightmare Whiskey Golem (hey you had to use your extra construction material to build something, right?) The next two best hideouts will get a small mystery box! As always, everyone gets a Guilder! There may be other prizes as well, but let's keep that a secret for now, shall we?
  15. Time for our First Annual New Year's Shindig in Malifaux city (and it's outlying areas)! The party starts at 6pm, so be sure to show up early! It's caught your crews attention this year that the mythical golden pigs will be put on display during the party! A mysterious, shady stranger has come to you, asking that you steal the pigs. He (it?) promises you riches untold for delivering him the pigs without leaving behind any evidence to trace back to him. And remember, Guild patrols are in the area, so killing would be... frowned upon. Now the question is... will you try to steal the pigs for him, or safeguard the pigs from the others that will surely try to take them? After all, if you can keep others from getting them, you can swoop in to steal them later on for yourself! This is going to be a two round special event with free entry. Crew size is 50ss, and we will be using fixed crews. We will determine before the event starts whether you will be trying to steal the Golden Piglets, or trying to keep the others from getting them. We will need an equal number of thieves and guards, and you will stay either a thief or a guard for the whole event! We will be using the Shindig rules throughout the whole event! You get some neat special actions, but if you damage the other side with an attack action, you give them free victory points. We will also be using the core rulebook schemes. Round 1: Strategy - Theft (attacker trying to steal, Defender trying to guard) Schemes - ANY!!! Round 2: Strategy: Destroy evidence (attlacker covering up evidence, defender trying to catch them in the act.) Schemes: ANY!!! Prizes: The winner (player with most VP) will get a Large Mystery box! 2 small mystery boxes will be given away in a raffle. Everyone gets a Guilder for playing!
  16. Alright everyone, it's tournament time!!! Time to get at least one more tournament in before the holiday season craziness is upon us! I'm also going to use this as another terrain fundraiser to raise some cash to start on building the next (and probably last) table! I'm doing a Quarantine Zone cityscape this time! This will be a 50ss, 3 round tournament with relaxed round times (2.5 hours till last turn called). It starts at 2pm. We will have a food break after round 2. It's at Geek Out Games, in Central, South Carolina in the Wal-mart shopping plaza. Entry fee is $10 (it will all be going to terrain and supplies for the new board) We'll be using the Gaining Grounds 2016 Strategies and Schemes (unless I come up with something cooler by then, hehehe...) I'll have some new prize support in by then, so there's no telling what faction's models I'll be able to give out! Just know that there will be Guilders for all, and a few of the special edition models to give out as well! As always, I need a head count on how many of you plan on attending, so hit that "going" button! See ya'll then!
  17. Finished a game for the Child this afternoon vs. a VERY good Ten Thunders Player. I was playing Zipp, and he played Misaki. I learned two things that game: 1 - Jorugomo hit like a truck. 2 - Zipp spanks Misaki HARD! Seriously hard. Her +flip to defense doesn't work very well when you target her Ht! Also, Zipp can be so hard to pin down and / or assassinate that even Misaki has troubles keeping up. It didn't hurt that we had a decent amount of hazardous terrain on the board for Zipp to chuck people into! Needless to say, I scored a win for team green getting the kid!
  18. Due to unforseen circumstances, we had to cancel the tourney on the 8th. It will instead be held on the 21st at 5pm. See you there!
  19. Here is a nasty combo for you all: Take Pere Ravage with Zipp and an Iron Skeeter and have poorly handled explosives on something (doesn't matter what). 1 - Activate whatever has poorly handles explosives, casting it on Pere. 2 - Activate the skeeter, using it's ability to drag a HT 1 model (Pere) along for a ride and move it toward a clump of enemies, and hopefully giving Pere fast. 3- Activate Pere, going reckless, move into position within 2" of as many enemies as possible (you should charge if in range) then oopsie twice, using the extra two AP from reckless and fast. It will kill Pere, but it has the potential to do a TON of damage to everything nearby! It has the potential to do up to 18 damage (10 from oopsie, 4 from Pere blowing up, and 4 from PHE) to every model in 2" if they fail their oopsie saves, and is guaranteed to do 8 damage to everything in 2" (4 from Pere blowing up, and 4 from PHE), also possibly 10 damage to everything in 6" , and that's not even counting his damage on the charge target!. I have literally wiped out 3/4 of my opponents crew in one go with this trick! Also, if you need extra speed from Pere before he pops, use Zipp's 0 action "Grab a Rope" to push him even farther up field! or you can use Zipp to "up we go" models into position for the big boom. Burt works well with this combo too, because of Cracker Jack Timing. Now, my job done, I race into the clouds!!!
  20. I'm totally going for the kid this week. Gremlin "parents" and a Hog riding kid with a psycho teddy bear (and stinky wicked dolls) just sounds like too much fun!
  21. I'm hosting a 3 to 4 round, 50ss tournament at Geek Out Games in Central, South Carolina at 2pm on October 8th. It's a fixed Master tournament, but you can bring what ever crew that you like with your chosen Master. I'll be using a slightly relaxed timing for rounds. The tournament is free to join, and I'll have prize support from Wyrd! Special edition models will be given away as a random drawing at the end of the tournament, as well as the prizes for the tournament itself (Guilders and certificates). Hope to see you there!
  22. This will be a 4 week Malifaux Growth League with all proceeds going to getting us some terrain for an awesome new Western Board! Dates: Sept 3rd - Sept. 24th Entry - $10 (all of it is going to terrain) (Payment goes to Scott) Rules: You start by picking a faction and crew box that you want to play, then we build up to larger games over the course of the League by adding models to that crew. Week 1 - 35ss crews, using ONLY Crew box models (unless you need more to get to 30ss) Week 2 - 40ss crews, using crew box contents plus extras (you can swap out TWO models from you crew box!) Week 3 - 45ss crews, using your crew box master plus whatever the heck you feel like!!! Week 4 - 50ss crew, using ANYTHING you want!!! I'll have the Strategies and Schemes that we will be using on each League Day (Saturdays) at the ship for everyone to use. Scoring will be using Wanted Posters. I will have a scoring system card at the shop. (For the purposes of game scoring, all games will score 1000 bounty for playing a League game plus any extras from VP, painting, etc...) Prizes (the good stuff!): *1st Place - 3ss Guilder + certificate *2nd & 3rd place - 1ss Guilder + certificate *Everyone - 1ss Gulder + a chance to win a Large or small mystery box with a special edition miniature! I'll have 1 large and 2 small boxes that will be raffled off! As well as a random special edition stat card! *Best Sport - 1ss Guilder *Best Painted Crew - 1ss Guilder *Wooden Spoon (last place) - 1ss Guilder
  23. I'm just wondering if he will come with an upgrade for the Lucky Emissary in his box.
  24. This is a charity tournament for the Shriner's Hospital for children. Entry fee is $5, which all goes to the charity. It going to be held at Geek Out Games, in Central, South Carolina at 1pm. I will have FULL PRIZE SUPPORT from Wyrd!!! There will be a random drawing for special edition miniatures. First place will get a 3ss Guilder, and 1st thru 3rd place will get a certificate. Everyone will get a participation guilder. Rudy (the store owner) has said that he may throw in extra prizes, but that has yet to be decided. Henchman Hardcore games are EXACTLY 20 pts, and are led by a Henchman (who is free) and EXACTLY 3 other models. You can buy upgrades as normal, no extra soulstones can be purchased beyond your starting cache, and no summoning is allowed, period. The Strategy is always TURF WAR and the only scheme is ASSASSINATE. Close deployment is used, and scoring can start on the first turn. This will be a fixed list, 4 round tournament, so come with your crew and get ready to rumble!
