  1. That's fair, though I might counter that it depends on the scheme - sometimes you just want to zip them off to a location and camp them with PoM and Df. Don't know if it actually counts as a "scheme runner" if it's not actually doing much running, but I've used them quite successfully as "scheme dash-and-campers."
  2. Metal Gamin are "potentially fast" scheme runners. If the enemy crew has constructs, they're quick little buggers using their (0) Magnetism. If the enemy crew doesn't have constructs, however... well, that's where the "potentially" part comes into play.
  3. That's an interesting point, Laika. It makes this statement: Puzzling and inconsistent with the precedents set in previous releases. I find it far more likely that the card in question was forgotten (either on Wyrd's end or the printer's) and that rather than further delay Ironsides' release while it was sussed out (for a kit that was already delayed for problems getting cards) they decided to ship them as-is, and have Aaron come play damage control by spinning an obvious oversight into a sales pitch for a new product.
  4. I love Wyrd, but that's some pretty asinine logic.
  5. How is an upgrade that can only be equipped to a specific named character something you decided would be a "general" upgrade, rather than an upgrade that came with that character?
  6. I suspect Bengt is posting here rather than go through the regular mispack service because it's kind of strange for a large number of people to receive the same mispack. Perhaps there's something wrong with the lot, perhaps it's an intentional loss. If it's intentional, it's not precisely a "mispack," so I think it's worth posting.

  8. I... I did not realize this was a one and a half year old thread. It came up when I was searching for something, and because I'm not very good at the Internet I thought I was participating in an active conversation. Sorry, mates, for not checking the date - but I'll make a gallery for you when they get painted up.
  9. I just chopped the nubs off of all my spider legs and glued them wherever. Came up with six or eight poses just from the plastic kit that way, after I got up the moxy to cut and switch some of the legs that are moulded on.
  10. Well, then it looks like I'm supporting my Friendly Internet Retailer instead, because my FLGS never has $60 worth of Malifaux stuff I want in stock at the same time anyway.
  11. All one receipt? Or just "spend $60 or more across the month of June?" Because I'm waiting for Ironsides, but I want Metal Gamin yesterday.
  12. Aye, fair enough. I was just hoping that there might be some kind of update ("we talked to our printers/distributors and should have Troubleshooters boxes ready to roll out mid-June") to tide me over. I'm not mad that there's not, or anything, just making sure I hadn't missed anything.
  13. So... Ironsides? Johan? It's absolutely not May anymore.
  14. The Serenity Role Playing Game is worth a look, too, if that's your kind of thing.
  15. I like Taelor's "Welcome to Malifaux" ability, it always reminds me of Will Smith in Independence Day: "Welcome to Urf!" *whack*
  16. Also, I think I remember reading something on the Through The Breach Kickstarter page about "build-your-own-player-character" modular kits. That might be the way to go, once they're released.
  17. Ah, okay, thanks. I see it now: I had been missing the part where the paired swords get a positive flip. I was just glancing through my deck, and at first look it seemed like the weapon profiles were identical. Thanks for pointing out the difference.
  18. That's... weird that it has no mechanical meaning in this edition, because the m2e stat cards are what I'm referring to, but thanks for the quick response.
  19. So I've noticed that Viktoria of Ashes has 'Sword' and 'Gun,' while Viktoria of Blood trades in her gun for 'Paired Swords.' My question, though, is if the 'Paired' distinction means anything? 'Swords' and 'Paired Swords' have the same to hit/damage profile. Is 'Paired' a rules keyword? Two attacks? Anything? I couldn't find it anywhere, so probably not, I just wanted to make sure I'm not missing anything.
  20. Alright, just picked up my Arsenal deck, as well as the Arcanist one for my lady. We'll both need the Wave 2 packs when they come out (especially for her since she plays Colette,) but we have the beta documents to tide us over until then. So... models, arsenal decks, Fate decks, tape measure, tokens, and blank bases to use as markers. Second edition rules manual is in the post. Met my local Henchman and found out when the FLGS plays 'faux. Anything else I need, or are we ready to play?
  21. Thanks for the quick response! I guess the only questions left now are: How strict are the conversion rules in Malifaux? I know that in 40k it's something like "field whatever you want, I don't care if you glue Lego minifigs to the base" and in WM/H it's "use the exact model, with the exact weapons, held in the proper hands." How much converting can I do before people raise eyebrows at me? Where can I get my hands on "generic" upgrades? I'm pretty sure that the crew box only comes with Viktoria-specific upgrades. I can't be certain until my parcel arrives (should be in the next couple days) and I crack it open, but are they available to download anywhere just in case? Oh! And other than fluff and art, is there anything I'm missing by getting the $15 in-stock rulebook instead of the $40 back-orders-for-days rulebook? Again, thanks so much for responding. Feedback means a lot to me. The more I read about this game the more excited I get to play it. Any tips for a first timer?
  22. Hey, moderators, I'm done with this! (thanks!)
  23. Hey there, forumites. I just got into Malifaux at the behest of my girlfriend (she tried Warmachine for me, I'm trying Malifaux for her.) I've never played this game before, although we're both "re"learning it since 2E dropped, anyway. I've bought a crew - Hired Swords, the Viktorias - and a single model to accompany it (Vanessa, since lurking this forum led me to believe that more things in the crew with "Sister" as a type would probably be beneficial in the long run.) My question is... how to take this to 50SS? A rough count up with the crew builder puts me at 32SS, or 36 if I swap out the Student for Vanessa - because another thing I think I put together from lurking is that I can't have both? (Is that a holdover from 1.x, because I can't find anything about it on Vanessa's 2.0 beta card?) Regardless, 36SS =/= 50SS. Heck, even if I can have SoC and Vanessa in 2E, 40SS =/= 50SS. ...At this point, could someone teach me how upgrades work? I've got 10/14SS to fill before my crew is up at the level where my girlfriend wants to be playing. Sorry to ask beginner questions, but my rules manual is in the post and I'm a wee bit impatient. So... long story short: What would you add to Hired Swords + Vanessa to bring the crew up to 50SS? Just upgrades? New models? Which of each? If you do suggest a model, try to keep it to female sculpts - my girlfriend plays Colette, and we're keen on the idea of having two whole wargame armies with nary a male character to be seen - and the new plastics, if possible. The plastic thing is somewhat more mutable, the sculpts just seem to be a higher quality. First post! Long post! Pre-emptive thanks for your replies and patience!
