  1. Volunteering was awesome this year. I'm glad I had a chance to come and work with everyone. Definitely adding my vote for baskets. I didn't have a ton of stuff, but I watched other people carry massive piles of product rather precariously. Thank you thank you to everyone who came to my Through the Breach games this year. I hope everyone had fun.
  2. This won't work for every antagonist, but I found that giving a major end game encounter phases ended up working well where I didn't want to have things swarming the PCs for various reasons, just to add my two bits.
  3. I'll be using a quick version of it as a demo game for TtB. I'll be running demos for that and Malifaux in the Events Hall on Thursday 2-7 and Sunday 2-6. It won't be the full, fluffy version, but sadly, such are my limitations. I'm gonna try to run four games next year since so many people were interested.
  4. I'm also having this problem, with the addition of missing but functional message buttons at the top of the page. http://i278.photobucket.com/albums/kk120/Acchan0/wyrdforumsmissingbuttons_zpsoz3o7244.jpg
  5. I'm also running two of the games, though if either of the published one shots are on hand (I will ask about regarding that), I can run one during the times I'm demoing in the Events hall. I can also do a pared-down version of my intro game, as mentioned in the pinned TtB Volunteers thread.
  6. My friend made a Vassal module for TtB a while back that has a communal deck and lets you save your Twist decks if anyone's interested. It doesn't use Malifaux maps, though, so some combination might be in order if it can be managed. (Uploaded with permission.) Here's the Dropbox link.
  7. For those looking for more TtB games: I don't have any more official ones on the schedule, but I am running demos on Thursday and Sunday afternoons starting at 2 pm in the Events Hall. If you'd like me to demo Through the Breach, I'd be happy to run a quick, pared-down version of the intro adventure I have planned. And it never hurts to show up at one of the scheduled games (Friday 4 pm-8 pm and Saturday 10 am-4 pm) with generics to see if there's unexpected room.
  8. The Wyrd Chronicles in the downloads section of this site also has a lot of good fluff, though it is more specific incidents. Still, there's a lot of the world's atmosphere in there, so it might be worth a look.
  9. The Hunter: I really didn't. The adventure in question didn't have any down time for her to build one herself, so it was on loan from her department, basically. I wish I had a better answer for you. Looking back, I would've liked to have time to stat out an actual construct for her, but between doing last minute stats and finishing up Malifaux cosplay, there wasn't much time. That part had to come last, after making sure the characters were down and the plot was set up and populated. Graverobber: Basically, I had to rewrite her shortly before game and forgot to adjust her aspects to reflect her new skill emphasis. She had something like -2 AV for Doctor. She had Heal and Mind Control for her spells, and because of the triggers for those, it threw off twist deck building. I would have adjusted her aspects, basically rebuilding both Aspects and Skills, and done her magic a bit differently, or at least lined up the suits for easier deck building.
  10. *pulls out game notes* Sorry this took so long. The plot was a murder mystery. A Guild Guardsman was killed, and the players were pulled in to investigate. I don't want to go too much into the plot at the moment because a better version than I put together might make it into an adventure. I basically flipped up as many characters as a single fate deck would give me. I pared it down to 8 because a couple of them were badly written and I didn't have time to go back and correct them. The final characters people took were: Claude Koenig, Wastrel: Smooth talker, good at Bewitching people and the best out of the group at scrutiny, which proved VERY useful. Javier Ortega, Gunfighter: An Ortega who specialized in shotguns instead of pistols. He taught us all that guns are the answer to any problem, including locked doors and uncooperative guards. Matea Mitchell, Performer: The main face of the group, extremely persuasive. She was also VERY handy with a whip that could put slow on an enemy by entangling them. It was way useful. Octavius Rake, Dabbler: A newcomer to MAlifaux (and his player played that up wonderfully). He could punch people with fire and developed a rather brilliant Manifested Power he called "Walk it Off", which involved performing a Walk duel to heal himself. Charlotte Brennan, Mercenary: The almost traditional rogue and sniper of the group. She favored sneaking around and keeping an eye on things. She had a combination of trigger and a native Ram after the second session that allowed her to reload her massive damage sniper rifle without spending AP automatically. Maria Pellegrino, Graverobber: She was handy with a shotgun and a lockpick. Unfortunately, I didn't build her as well as I could have, and it gave the player some trouble. We also had a Tinkerer who had a very nice pet Hunter, but the player wasn't able to make it for the second two sessions, sadly. She would've been largely pet-based, but she could also basically build or fix anything you could ever want.
  11. I think I can safely say that Wednesday afternoon/evening is a good time in Salem at MBC Gaming (or Haven if the name's changed on Google Maps by now). We're honestly looking to build a regular player group, as well. It's only 45 minutes from Portland or so, so there's that option, too.
  12. Normally I'm not a huge fan, but this book really made me look at the Gremlins differently. I'm still not going to play them, but I've really enjoyed their stories. I felt like I got a lot of insight into the Wave 2 masters in this book, a feel for who they are. I admit, I'd like to see the Wave 1 masters get the same detailed, individual treatment. I know at least a couple of them have in Wyrd Chronicles, so I'll hold out hope there.
  13. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I'm pretty thankful I had such a great (and patient) group of players. Javier honestly didn't stand out to me while I was creating him, but you really brought him to life in play and he ended up really being a stand out character. If Javier does ride again, I hope you'll tell about his adventures. TtB has its problems, but running it went really smoothly, and combat is very snappy. If found myself with extra time because I'd allowed as much time for combat as other games generally need. I'll probably run a TtB game locally since this experience was good.
  14. Well, we won't hunt you down or anything if you don't go to the second and third parts. It is strongly preferred that you do, though. I know part 1 of my game (the Guild-centered one) is a somewhat lower-key set up the more meaty second and third parts. The tickets are also relatively pricey, and it would kinda suck to pay $12 for only 4 hours of the game.
  15. Haven't set up a super regular time just yet, so call us flexible. Weekday afternoons work best for me, though. I'm still in the process of painting my Lady J crew, though she should be ready to go this week.
  16. We favor MBC Gaming (who'll soon be renamed to Haven), which is at 5008 Commercial Street SE in Salem. They're hoping to get more people in playing Malifaux, too.
  17. I know there are at least three Malifaux players in Salem, including myself. Don't know about the rest of the state.
