  1. I find that Lucius doesn't really "need" his upgrades. I think that Legalese is just so good though that its hard to not take.
  2. Yes the fat guy is now the Guard Sergeant, and the Drill Sergeant totem is now Captain Dashel... Same models, much better though. I really like what has been done with them. A Lucius crew has fantastic synergy now.
  3. The lawyer worked great for me, even though I did make a large tactical error in purposefully moving him into lilith's melee range (I didn't realize 3" melee was even a thing) Still though, his zero action is amazing and fairly simple to cast twice per turn off the trigger. And the scheme marker that he dropped ended up being the thing that kept me from losing the game. The Guard Sergeant used an order on the next to last turn to move it within two inches of him and then was able to plink a terror tot off a scheme marker for the win. I like the idea of a second guard sergeant, but I don't know (with the list I used) how I would find the points for him. I don't think that Lucius is very soul stone reliant because through the whole game I only used soul stones on him to ensure that I would get the suit for the sniper... So maybe I could fit in one more small something and use just three or four soul stones... But I wouldn't give up any of the models that I used just to have a second GS particularly since his WP bonus doesn't stack with itself, but it does with a lawyer. I didn't find that I had many problems with the shorter range and the cover, albeit I was going against an enemy with little or no shooting. I could admittedly be out gunned by the Ortegas or a Hans and Trappers outcast list... But that's two of the however many armies are out there.
  4. I like shooty Lucius. I played a great game just last night using Lucius (+Secret Assets & Legalese) Captain Dashel Guard Sergeant Guild Lawyer 3x Guild Guard 2x Guild Austringer It worked like a charm. The bonus actions provided by commanding presence are great, and the bonuses to WP duels provided by the Lawyer and Sergeant are essential to making the most of an otherwise shakey ability. I got really lucky and failed very few of those duels, and the result was a rather devastating shooting spree. I even managed to force Lilith to take a number of horror tests through the use of Menace, and all it took was for her to fail the one that she did to really save my bacon. After she was incapacitated the game really turned around and I was able to bring it in for the big win (the guard sergeant cheating the red joker for damage at range really helped there.)
  5. Personally I'm a big fan of the original Lucius sculpt.
  6. I'm pretty sure that you can't choose Viktoria of Blood to run a crew. I don't have the rules in front of me but I think she has a rule that says that she may only be taken if Viktoria of Ashes is the leader of the crew.

    M2E Viks

Well, yes on this particular night the flips weren't falling my way a lot of the time and even my hands weren't much better. But I've had games too where I felt like I was flipping amazingly and still there was little or no damage.

    M2E Viks

I really don't want to come in and complain again, but I still don't at all understand how anybody can call the Viktorias a glass cannon. In ten games against the Viks in M2e I haven't managed to kill a single Viktoria one time. I've used Rasputina, Tara, Lucius, and Hamelin. Twice I have managed to accumulate 6 wounds on one or the other, but never the mythical seventh wound. Before I know it they're healed to full health and I have to start all over again... And it will only be worse when Vanessa comes out. I've never had the luck to kill one with instant death, I've paralyzed them, slowed them, blasted them, heavy meleed them, heavy castes them, heavy shot them, lured them, attempted to bury them (never successfully). Heck, tonight in a game I attacked Viktoria of Ash three times with Tara in melee and twice from various ranged sources causing one total damage. Then I also attacked Viktoria of Blood something like 14 times with Tara, twice with Void Wretches, and once at range with a death marshal, causing six total wounds. She didn't even get healed and I only flipped the black joker once on an attack. Just soul stones for damage prevention and defense. Seven total damage between two Viktorias from 22 attacks. Please explain how they're a glass cannon.
  9. Hi everybody. I'm Gnas, I'm from Lexington, KY. I've been tabletop gaming for 15 years, and I've played Malifaux since the month that it originally came out oh so many years ago. I consider myself a competent gamer, with a good understanding of general tactics, spacing, list composition, etc. I took a long hiatus from the game because I felt like there were just some crews which were straight up better than others, and decided to give it another chance with the new edition, since I like the mechanics and style of the game. I have Rasputina, Lucius, Hoffman, Hamelin, and Jack Daw to run as masters. My personal favorite to run is Lucius, although I tend to find myself running Rasputina most of the time. I prefer a good mid range play style. On to the important thing. I seem incapable of hurting things, and I wonder if I'm just missing something, or if I don't understand some kind of mechanic somewhere. Since M2E came out, I've played six games of Malifaux, five times against the Viktorias, and once against Sonnia Crid. I've run Rasputina five times and Lucius (beta) once to a record of 2-4. The game I played against SC seemed well balanced, there was a good back and forth, and I won. Every game against the Viks has featured my crews wall crawling in an attempt to not be instantly killed by Hans, and then the Viktorias chess match me into a corner and whirlwind me to death (if I try to fight at all). The only game against the Viktorias that I won featured me using the terrain to my advantage, and straight up hiding behind a building using Rasputina to cast Ice Pillars to close off all entrances to where my crew was while I dropped Scheme Markers for the win. In that particular game we each shot at each other one time. No models died, and it was generally not fun, in any way, apart from the fact that hey, I got a victory. I feel like the "glass cannon" concept of the Viktorias is completely false. I haven't managed to kill either Vik in any of the matches that I've played, as my opponent simply conserves all of his SS to protect himself (what's with SS so heavily favoring the defender now?), and on the next turn uses the Malifuax Child to heal both Viks, and now that he's within range of something, he kills it, and he's back to full health. I have nothing to out shoot Hans with, unless I forward deploy my December Acolytes on a suicide mission... even then 14 points to ensure that 8 points goes down isn't a good trade. What am I missing?
