  1. Here's my March entry. She's one of my favorite models and I gave a lot of thought to basing her in a way that I felt was dynamic and fun. I am going to paint her with the street lamp on so her back half will be fully lit and her front half will be in some degree of shadow. I want her wings to resemble bat wing membranes with a light held behind them. Lofty goals considering my rudimentary painting skills ... I expect several restarts will be necessary. If anyone has suggestions on color pallets and painting techniques to achieve my goals I would love to hear them!
  2. Why don't you just stack the bases? You could place a 30 mm base in the center of a 50 mm base and then fill the outer space with more basing decoration. Using some small magnets to secure the two bases together would be the most logical solution. Then, if anyone complains about your attractive larger base, or you change you mind and want to take your cool model to a tournament, you could just use the smaller (rules appropriate) base. Basically, have your cake and eat it too! Mmmm ... cake ...
  3. These, like all your work, are amazing. As a new painter (I've managed to get primer on six models ... does that count?) your thread is both inspiring and intimidating. What are your basing plans for the Torakage? If you are planning a night scene some colors naturally fade to gray in the dim light, like reds and purples, so they might be fine as they are.
  4. I can attest to the filthiness of this. Filthy robot is filthy.
  5. I'll stick with tactics instead, it is just a game after all. Also, I'd prefer to remain friends with the player across the table when the game ends.
  6. What Mako said. Besides, for me a lot of the fun of Malifaux comes from not knowing what I will flip next. After all, bad things happen.
  7. Townsfolk stuff I'm not sure about. I guess you could consider the University of Transmortis scenarios as having NPC characters though. I'm still looking for a chance to try the scenarios out in a two player game, they look interesting.
  8. Yup, experience is definitely the best teacher. Also, just a heads up, Leveticus also ignores armor, hard to wound, and hard to kill, but he can do it from 12 inches. Plus he has a trigger on the same spell that negates damage prevention with soulstones. Gotta love those Outcasts and their shenanigans, right?
  9. Ama No Zako has flight for sure. I can't think of any others off the top of my head.
  10. This has come up the past two weeks at our local game store. Entropic Demise on Leveticus states: Entropic Demise: When an enemy model within 6 suffers damage from the Unmade Trigger, this model may discard a card to increase the damage being suffered by 1. So, does this mean if 2 cards are discarded the damage is increased by 2, and so on? Thanks in advance for your insights!
  11. Well that was fun! Didn't make it past the Student of Steel though. Will try again later!
  12. Ahh, but you must recognize the difference here. You are speaking of your girlfriend and he is asking about his wife. These two things are not equal. Your wife should always win. You can thank me later.
  13. Here are a few simple suggestions to allow for happier games with your wife. 1) Her models always activate with Fast. 2) She gets positive flips to all duels, because she's better than you. 3) Her black joker is her red joker ... so is her red joker. Remember, happy wife = happy life.
  14. Come now. That video is an excellent example of just how varied the terrain was at the tournament. Yes, some of the tables were sparse (the swamp table in particular), but many had more than the required terrain. Not to mention there was a good mix of terrain types on many of those tables. In the end the TO already posted a great explanation for the terrain at the tournament here. Basically they were not trying to create balanced terrain on every table as much as they were trying to foster variety. (Plus they worked with what they could get). I think it looks really neat and I wish I could have been there!
  15. I run a lot of Necropunks and it's rare that I don't get at least one 7 in hand (for leap). Icemyn is right about the flips too, you are more than likely to be able to flip a 6 than not. I'm not saying the Mechanical Rider is overpower, I haven't played with or against her, but I can imagine combining the Mechanical Rider with a Leveticus crew's card drawing abilities would be very intimidating.
  16. I was wondering about that as well. I think it was just a slip though and Hateful meant to say 'Levi and Waifs' instead.
  17. Most impressive! I see your T. rex-riding Batman, and raise you the Svalbard Pliosaur. With an estimated length somewhere between 50 and 60 feet (and close to a forth of that being toothy-goodness) this is the biggest marine reptile yet found. Note the word reptile as there are older and fouler things than Pliosaurs in the deep places of the world. (At last! I've done it! I've finally used that quote in a meaningful context! I can now die happy.)
