Hi all, in an attempt to clear out lots of partially finished projects, I'm trying to sell/trade some of my painted crews and partial crews. The below are all M2E plastics painted to a strong tabletop standard except where noted. All come with M2E cards. Would prefer to sell crews in tact, but willing to make exceptions. How did your most recent game go? I really like the idea of Misaki as Outcast but have no idea what combination of 10T/Outcast models work well in general (I know that actual selection depends on schemes, stats, etc.). Would love to hear how she's working for you!!

This is amazing! The glow effect from the lantern and sword came out perfectly.

Starting work on my newest crew, the Viks. I wanted to try a really muted, military inspired color pallet, but think it turned out a little too dull. Keep envisioning a red coat on Ash Vik! I played around with my camera settings, swapped the white background out for light blue, and ditched the photobox entirely. Think (hope!) the photos turned out better this time around too. Comments and critiques welcomed as always.

Thanks Kadeton! For some reason I assumed that the Student was an auto include, so I'm glad to know this isn't the case. Using Vanessa to cast Sisters in Fury (or the other buffs) also makes a ton more sense than using the Viks' AP for the same result. I always felt I spent a lot of AP to set up strong attacks, but then didn't have any left to use them. I also need to experiment with Oathkeeper... Very eager to get them on the table again.

So I'm pretty new to the Viks, and have found myself with some major trouble keeping them alive. Well them, and Vanessa. I've tried just keeping them out of LOS, but then they don't have LOS for their attacks and seem to just waste AP if they can't go out an be killy. Does it really all come down to using the Student/Sisters in Spirit Upgrade to move Viks around at the right moment? What are good additions to the crew that offer some more staying power?

This is really beautifully done. The NMM on the arm and hammer turned out very well. I just finished doing the new plastic Taelor in NMM, but the effect you achieved here way outclasses what I managed. Very nice and can't wait to see the rest of the crew!

The Nothing Beast and Void Wretches are amazing! It really captures the feeling of pulling these creatures from a void. Without a doubt the best looking ones I've seen yet. Totally unique idea and executed perfectly.

Really good looking crew. I feel like you usually see Outcasts done with each member of the crew being totally dissimilar from the others, but I like the unified color scheme you have here. It's a true mercenary team! The flowers in the grass on the bases are also amazing. Well done!

Thanks again for the feedback everyone. Definitely need to work on getting some better photos up. I've been using a little light box, but am still having troubles. Best tips for background colors? I feel like I see white used most often, but have found arguments online that this washes out the color. Also any advise on camera settings? My camera (it's a pretty old Cannon) has a micro and super micro mode - but these won't let you zoom so you have to get crazy close to the mini. The normal setting just makes everything appear really grainy when I zoom close enough to see any detail. THoughts? Thanks Sekiyama! What colors are you thinking of using? I use the Reaper Paint Triad colors but add two additional highlight colors for a total of 5 layers for pretty much each color (if it's really small detail I'll just stick to 3). To get everything to a similar tone, I used their Dusky Skin triad as an additive for all other colors including the more natural skin tones and hair colors. I started with a ration of 1:1 bright color:Dusky Skin color, but upped this to 4:1 for the human...er, non-Sorrow skin (Sorrows' skin is straight Dusky Skin to give you an idea of that color on its own). Using this, my red formulas looked like 1:1 Dusky Skin Shadow:Bloodstain Red 1:1 Dusky Skin:Clotted Red 1:1 Dusky Skin Highlight:Carnage Red 1:2 Dusky Skin Highlight:Carnage Red 1:3 Dusky Skin Highlight:Carnage Red Other than that, it's just watering down your paint and doing multiple layers. I always use a black primer, so that probably keeps everything a little downed down. The final step for these (and all my minis) is a few layers of satin varnish thinned with water (usually a 2:1 or 1:1 mix varnish to water). I then put down washes over a majority of the minis with an emphasis on the small details and deep recesses. The wash color is a 1:1 mix of the darkest color used in an area (so Bloodstain Red in the example above) and black.

These are looking really good! I particularly like the contrast between the sombre skin tones and the brighter purples, blues and pinks you use in the clothing. It gives a nice variety between the models while still keeping a cohesive look.

These are some really great crews! The 10 Thunders are probably the best looking Misaki group I've seen. The deep purple and mustard are really beautiful together. Keep up the good work!

It's one big unhappy family. Kade's arm broke off during painting so there's a major lump there. Reposting Candy, and finished Pandora. Finished for now until the new Doppelganger and Teddy! Tried new method for taking photos and think they turned out a little better but would love to hear your thoughts.

These are awesome! The gore effects really look great and agreed that adding height to the Chihuahua is a pretty brilliant idea. Well done!

I don't have anything to contribute to using Candy, but I might be able to help with the pinning situation. It's a little wasteful, but I ordered some tiny pin vise bits online that are small enough to drill into her legs without damaging them. You do have to be careful to stay inside her limb, (and not to break the pin!) but just go slowly. When you have the hole drilled, just use the bit as your pin. I used this same method with the Rotten Belles.

I feel like there is another strange trigger interaction when used with McMourning's Rancid Transplants CA action. Trigger reads "After succeeding, push McMourning into base contact with the target." So the Child takes the action, hits the trigger, and McMourning pushes into base contact??? Seems strange, but without any of the normal copy restrictions (no triggers, no actions that list a model by name) that's how it would play.

Wasn't sure about Candy on the sprue, but started to love the model as the paint went on. The face is absolutely tiny and was definitely a challenge, but I normally have a lot of trouble with hair, and thought the dirty blond turned out pretty well.

I like these models overall, but there is one piece I have no idea what to do with. The spine/neck of the head that one of the Youngs is holding goes into a roundish piece covered in...something. I had originally planned to leave this off until I thought about how impossible it would be to get the Young to balance on the tiny spine without it. Any ideas on what this piece is? How is everyone else painting this? I'm at a total loss.

I've been thinking about starting in on a new crew (I usually play Seamus) and have been eying the Viks for their totally different look and play style. I'm not a very skilled player, and was wondering what the learning curve looked like on these? Also, the local group usually plays right around 50ss and I think the box with max upgrades/stones comes in a little short. Any advice on what other models would be a good compliment?

These are great! The colors look really smooth and clean and your tones are subdued without being dull. I can't decide if I like your Ice Golem or Santiago most. Really wonderful work.

Nemissary - I've been using and loving the Reaper triads since I started doing Malifaux a couple of month ago. They work really well in an airbrush, just play around with different amounts of thinner (I just use water) and pressure until you find what works for you and your brush/compressor. Like I said, I have a pretty cheap airbrush with a large needle I found for really at a great price on Craigslist (the original owner used it for makeup and it took some SERIOUS cleaning to get it working again) and end up using a higher pressure with very little water to get an even coat. And the Ghoulish Flesh triad is awesome by the way! It was little greener than I wanted for my Belles (I'll try and find some pics) so used a 1:1 mix of those three and the Fair Skin triad. Awesome paints all around!
