I like the way you sank the bases into the diorama making it both a competition piece and gaming pieces. I find the colors a bit too similar and they sort of blur together and you lose definition. I would have liked to see more contrast in the skin tones and use different browns for the railroad ties, clothing and wood so it shows up a bit better.

    Light in the dark

i really like the monochromatic play on this. it really makes the OSL from the spell pop. the dripping blood is a nice little subtle spot color.

    Rude Awakening

i really like the mud splattered green skin of the corpse.

nice basing. the snow looks great. I like the way you played with the light on the cloth and the wood.

i see what you did there.

very vibrant colors that really pop thanks to good contrast in your color composition. with a model this bright, i think going with a more minimal base is a good idea to prevent it from being too cluttered. I would suggest trimming the grass with cuticle scissors so it is a bit less uniform.

Care bear nightmare stare. id like a little more definition on those gums, but not sure how to do it without going too pink and blending into the fur. perhaps purple gums.

the base really tells a story of being all alone. I wish the image was bigger so i could see the details of the model a bit better, but the ice creature thingy looks very clean and neat. definitely get the feeling of ice from that paint job.

the red to black color transition is very nice indeed. I wish i could see your base as that is a part of the model in my book. I would like to see the blood have a little gloss coating to it.

nice conversion, nice contrast and composition. I like the basing. good work.

the freehand is a nice touch. I would have liked a bit more contrast between skin tone and hair/fur color. to me they feel too close to each other and you lose some of the model definition and composition.
  12. interesting conversion. i think because of the 3 heads, this is a difficult model to photo, and would have benefited from 2 photos of different angles combined into one image with the empty space cropped out to decrease file size and maximize image size. very muted color scheme, with a nice base. wish i could see more of it.

great composition. i think the older light dock wood really sits well with the more muted gren skin and browns in the clothing. the moss growing up the posts and reeds are a nice touch.

nice color choices. I can see several mold lines which is unfortunate. the skin could use another level of highlighting, as its all to similar in tone for me. i think a little bit of snow effects basing material would have been nice instead of just the grey drybrush on the basing.

the base really adds to the model and helps tell a story. i can see a couple mold lines, and the cloth wraps on the legs need some more contrast between the recesses and highpoints to promote definition in the wraps. like how you left a dark line along the ridges in the wings.
  16. the way this is painted, i can see him standing in front of an open bar door looking out into the night for trouble makers. top notch sir.

stunning. i love it. my only complaint is so much of the photo is wasted empty space. i would rather a more zoomed in shot with all the empty background cropped out.

    Santa Claws

nice weathering on the claws. i like the dark shading for contrast on the red armor plates. i would have liked something a bit more on the base for a competition model.

from what i can see this model looks clean. however using 4 photos makes them all so small it is hard to appreciate and judge the detail work. I would like to see a bit more dont on the basing for a contest model.

careful when it comes to prepping those joint lines where the model glues together. if you dont gapfill with liquid greenstuff or some other product and file smooth, it really shows up when painted. certainly above table quality, but for a painting contest that sort of this is something i look for. when you do reeds or grass tufts on a base, i find it works better to glue them on much longer than i want. then i use cuticle scissors to trim the grass down one or 2 pieces at a time to ensure it has a random length to it. that helps make it look more natural.

my only complaint is the color used on the cart wood is too red in tone, when next to all that red dynamite. this would have been a good time to try out an older greyer wood tone to really make the red dynamite pop. all that dynamite does blur together and could benifit from some deeper shadows and lighter highlights to create a bit stronger contrast.

    SnowStorm Entry

the red dress really makes her pop with the other model in the back. from what i can see it looks clean. i wish it was only 2 views and larger because its hard to see all the detail you did that small.
  23. very creative idea. the hair color transition is done very well. it might be because of a black background, but i feel like the center of the model gets a little lost in itself. nice work on your basing. that dapple color transition must have taken quite a while to do.

i wish you had cropped down the photos, so you could take a more zoomed in photo. from this distance, there just isnt enough contrast in the model for my tastes.

wow. nice. even the dock looks weathered, and aged by the water. i think the only bit of advice i could add is to suggest taking those tiny cuticle nail scissors, and trimming the grass clumps so the lengths are a bit more random and not little uniform domes. overall great use of contrast, blending and extra effort on the basing make this stand out
