  1. Flay does not work against Nellie since "Damage flips against this model may not be cheated by other models." Flay only allows you to ignore damage flip restrictions due to 's. So it can't cheat damage against Nellie for the same reason she can't cheat damage flips against Gable Your Life. If Flay did work against her Flay (a trigger) would resolve before Revisionist History (an ability) since "Whenever any Ability happens at the same time as any Triggers, the Triggers are resolved first."
  2. Aaron did a great two part interview on the combat phase podcast. He really seems to have it together, gave me a great deal of confidence that wherever Malifaux goes it will continue to be a great game. Both halves of the interview start at about the 40 minute mark. Part 1: http://www.combatphase.com/2017/10/01/episode-214/ Part 2: http://www.combatphase.com/2017/10/07/episode-215/
  3. Not Wyrd themed, so not an entry, but any excuse to post my Jack o' Lantern.
  4. I don't expect this to happen, since I'm sure you have quite enough work to do already, but... If you want to make the game more accessible for a variety of devices I know some people in my meta would love to see a 'naked' version of the books. Basically a PDF that looks just like the beta sheets that are posted, but with the models final stats. No pictures, no fluff, just the facts mam.
  5. Wyrd, thanks for once again listening and responding to the community. You guys are great!
  6. For my two sense this is a HUGE drawback. Losing the ability to search stat cards is big deal for me. It also means you can't cut and past rules questions into the forums.
  7. Thanks. You're search-fu is far superior to mine.
  8. They do resolve at the same time, so you need to check general timing. Since they are both abilities you need to go to the steps. Assuming huggie was the defender and Lynch was not the attacker Death Contract takes effect in step 2, then Rising Sun (on Lynch) takes effect in step 3 or 4 depending on if he's the first or second player. PS I'm all for this getting fixed, but Raputina getting to use her Overpower trigger on a model she just killed should be fixed as well. Think these both fall into the same category, though the rules that make them work are different.
  9. Do either of you now if Opheila's card is one that was ever errata'd? Both my rulebooks paper and PDF both have two of her tactical actions listed as Attack Actions. Wargame vault doesn't show the back of the card.
  10. Can you tell me where it says that? I don't see it in the FAQ or Errata.
  11. Second that. If we have 20-30 models errata'd every January its going to get really old really fast.
  12. I used it once too. Nothing lower than an 11 in my hand, so...
  13. The paralyzed condition has been errata'd, so the rule quoted by twibs is slightly off. Though I don't think it makes any difference in this discussion. There is no mention of Abilities in the condition, so we've always played it that models can use their abilities while paralyzed. In some cases is doesn't make any sense, but others it does (e.g. why would a witching stalker not blow up because it is paralyzed?). Either way I've found no rule that says the do not work, so IMHO they can.
  14. ...and maybe someday someone will actually use Pay Up instead of Mulligan.
  15. I would agree if the the rule said to add that suit to the duel total or something similar, but is says "...announce which suit the Red Joker will be during the Action." It says "will be", not "use as".
  16. I disagree with this. The rule Adran sited says you declare a suit when the red joker is flipped and Pay Up does say you flip the cards.
  17. This is not correct. Soul Burn says you get the ++ to damage, then you lose 1 Flicker. Compare that to their Vital Strike trigger were you lose the flicker then take the action. So they can charge for 1 AP, get + to their two attacks (for charging) then get ++ to damage on each attack. After the second attack they sacrifice (zero flicker) and may drop a scheme marker (Asami's Heavenly Design upgrade). I agree Yokai are amazing.
  18. FYI - the Alt Wastrel (Miss Ann Thrope) is the November promo. You'd have to buy a Jury, but its cheaper than the McCabe box.
  19. Expert Cheater is not completely invalidated, since it takes effect in LoS (no range limit), but I'm sure it will be very rare someone will take both for that. The more important reason it isn't totally in validated is that Expert Cheater is not Limited, so it can be of use with the other two limited upgrades where Cheating Bastard cannot.
  20. I'm a big fan of the rules do what they say they do and RAW explicitly states you control the Action. No one has been able to show anywhere it states you control the Model as well, but that seems to be how obey is played, RAW or not. I'm willing to go with the majority at this point. Thanks everyone for you input!
  21. Good point, but Marcus does explicitly take control of the the enemy model. They may be referring to that.
  22. That's not strong evidence. Just because something is not really good doesn't mean it legal or illegal.
  23. You are correct. I see how I misread that before. It only says controller of the crew, not the model.
  24. It uses obey as an example of when a model is controlled by one player (the player who hired it), and an action is controlled by another player (the controller of the obeyed model). It illustrates that if you obey a model you control the action and only the action, while the model's controller never changes. The way I see it you obey a model to charge something. You get to move the model and select the target. Then the model's controller (the one who hired it) performs the two attacks (flips cards, cheats, declares triggers, etc. ). The charge action resolves.
