  1. We'll be holding Malifaux Demos on September 7th, from 1 pm to 6 pm. Come down and play a demo game, either with the models we're providing or with a crew of your own! Everyone that plays in a demo will get their name tossed into a hat, and at the end of the day we'll randomly draw out a name to determine who wins a free starter box! If you're interested in getting started with the game, this is a great time to come see what it's all about! Place: Universal Bits and Games, 3920 S. Western Ave Suite #2, Sioux Falls, South Dakota 57105. (The store is in the back of the building, with an external entrance) Store Phone: (605) 271-7660 Time: 1 pm - 6 pm, Saturday, Sept 7th.
  2. Well, the only Living models. Except for Silurids, which allows you to hire them as a Gremlin master, and a whole bunch of Gremlins and pigs (Lenny, Pere Ravage, Rami LaCroix, Raphael LaCroix, Hog Whisperers, Bayou Gremlins, War Pigs, and Piglets).
  3. I am going to go out on a limb and guess that it will be some sort of puppet.
  4. What would people say is a good "core crew" for Pandora?
  5. They're still mercenaries.
  6. We'll have to see what happens in the future when it happens. Personally, I'm hoping that they release a book. I've managed to get people hooked on the game and new masters just by showing them the full-page background/art of the masters in the rulebook, and I'd love to be able to do the same with the other masters. Showing them a playing card of a master just doesn't have the same impact as a nicely laid out page with art and background. The cards are all nonsense for people that don't know the rules, but everyone can appreciate a pretty picture and a description about who a character is.
  7. If so, then that's a pretty stupid restriction. It's the exact same wording on the card as it is in the book; why would it make a difference? I don't plan on requiring official cards for any of our tournaments.
  8. This is more or less my home as well, as I consider Kirai my "main" master. I'm planning on picking up McMourning before too long here (my Miss Steps are just begging to be Flesh Constructs), and Yan Lo is appealing, though I want to see how his 2E rules look before I commit to him. Tara is definitely proving to be fun and unique in her own right. That being said, I'm also a big fan of Lynch, and his crew treats me well, and new Pandora looks pretty neat as well.
  9. Or you could just photocopy the cards in the rulebook, cut them out, and put them in a deck protector with a playing card behind the printouts to add a bit of firmness to them.
  10. Well, other than the Burning triggers on Mei Feng's and Kang's attacks. You'd be hitting your own guys, but it's an option.
  11. I much prefer plastic. I hate it when paint chips off of metal models, or when they get knocked over and pieces snap off from the weight of the model.
  12. Mei Feng - much like the other dual faction members - can lead full crews of whichever faction you choose to align them with. Many of them possess the Infiltration ability, which further allows a specific sub-faction of models (Foundry, Darkened, etc) to be used in their crews regardless of their current alignment.
  13. While Datsue-ba makes sense for Kirai, in book 2 the Ikiryo was running around with spirits before Kirai realized what was going on. I could easily see it being a Henchman...but on the other hand, if they keep its unique summoning mechanics (which I hope they do), a beefy Enforcer would make sense. I'm looking forward to finding out, regardless. @___@
  14. Cleanse the Earth doesn't take an AP at all; you just discard the upgrade at the start of the model's activation and it happens. Kang is unchanged, Emberling is unchanged, Rail Worker is unchanged, Metal Gamin are unchanged, and Rail Golem is unchanged.
  15. Well, let's see! * Intimidating Pose triggers after damaging now. Otherwise, her card is just like the final Beta version. Upgrades: Servant of Dragons: Gains Cleanse the Earth, allowing the model to discard the upgrade to discard all scheme markers in 3. Price of Progress: Cost reduced to 1, and heals 1 damage in addition to previous effect. Thunderous Smash: Trigger now occurs after damaging, but also discards all scheme, corpse, and scrap markers within 3" of the model as well. People's Challenge: Clarifies that if a model fails the WP duel for Taunt, the action fails. Hard Worker: Cost reduced to 1, Shapes in the Steam also allows models to ignore markers when drawing LoS.
  16. Or maybe he'll just be able to roll "MIMIC" models in with his Guild peeps, which would be pretty cool. Elite division, indeed.
  17. Guild/Neverborn would make sense, and would allow for some interesting combinations. I think that a de-masked form would be appropriate for his avatar form.
  18. Tossing Maniacal Laugh on Tara is right old fun, since she doesn't have any other uses for the bodies. I'm not sure if it's effective or not, but it's fun.
  19. The rule that lets him lead a crew is pretty neat. It's called "The Real Power" and removes his totem status while he's leading his crew.

    Lynch 2.0

The Hungering Darkness's Heed My Voice now causes the controlled model to treat him as friendly for the duration of its action, which stops you from auto-paralyzing models by having them attack Huggles. I played about a half dozen games at gencon with Lynch's crew, and he seemed pretty balanced against the masters I played against (Lady J, Lilith, and Seamus). The Hungering Darkness is pretty awesome, but all of the games were still really close, either coming in at ties or within one or two points of the opponent. ---------- Post added at 12:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:30 PM ---------- Lynch still snags aces that other friendly models flip during their activations. His Wanna See A Trick upgrade now triggers at the end of his activation, making it useable and very handy when paired with Woke Up With a Hand. But, he now has to hold Endless Hunger and The Rising Sun for the Darkness...and both upgrades are Limited now, which forces you to choose between Casting Expert and being able to re-summon Sir Huggles when he dies, which does bring the Darkness's power level down a bit. Putting the upgrades on Lynch made me play more defensively with him, having him skulk near the back and take what shots he can while the Darkness rushed forward and ripped things apart with the extra power Lynch was giving him. If Lynch dies, the Darkness loses the upgrades he's holding for it. I'm very fond of the change.

    Tara crew

I never dumped my hand while playing her, but I was definitely cheating away low cards on already losing duels to get them out of my hand. Defensive Stance becomes a much more attractive option as well, as the discard requirement becomes less of a penalty and more of a bonus.

    Tara crew

...and the wounds that Tara and Karina managed to put on her ended up in Lady J dying at the buzzer and scoring me the two Victory Points I needed to win the game. So in my book, the wounds that Tara dropped on her ended up being rather integral to my victory. I'm not going to look at flipping a black joker as somehow being a flaw of the model that flipped it. In any case, I don't want to derail this thread with details of a battle which I only described here in very basic strokes. Clearly we're approaching her from different directions, and I think it's cool that such a thing is possible.

    Tara crew

I would much rather have Karina over a Child. I disagree that she didn't do much; most of the time, I had two or three things I wanted to do with her, and a couple turns I was holding onto high crows for awhile just in case someone got up close to her. I like that she doesn't have to be near the fighting to still contribute, and her peacebringer is a pretty decent attack for a 5 point model. Sure, lots of the models resisted the burning flames, but much like Horror tests, if they're cheating those flips, that's still eating cards from their hand at little cost to you. Regarding upgrades, Journey allowed Tara to snap back to the deployment zone and counter a Lady Justice that was, in all likelihood, going to murder half my crew next turn. Personally, I think it was a very useful trick, and I'll likely take it again in future games. But, it seems clear that there are a number of different ways to play Tara's crew, which is definitely a good thing.
