  1. @Clement has the right of it, to include recalling some of my specific examples from 1E. TFG could be the nicest fellow in your gaming group, I might add...but if he's bringing highly tuned min/max tournament grade filth to your casual newbro night, watch how quickly your pool of new blood dries up. If your group doesn't have at least one of those, you are truly living your best life. Sadly, M3E appears to lay out the welcome mat for that sort of degenerate play courtesy of "Dual Masters"
  2. Perhaps this is a subject for its own thread, but I'd like to mention that as a returning player (and former Henchman) who can't find a Malifaux community left standing in my entire state, the decision to allow dual-master crews in M3E is equal parts incredibly baffling and disappointing. Malifaux has had a problem with some Masters being a NPE virtually by design since the games inception, causing Wyrd to massively overhaul Masters from Dreamer to Pandora to Hamelin as editions have ticked past in order to try to soften that impact. In part, this is because Wyrd/Malifaux is a game that embraces denial to a degree many other such designers/games go well out of their way to avoid. Just for those reasons, it's shocking that Wyrd opted to allow what seems at face value to be a mechanic that throws the door wide open to TFG/NPE/degenerate play. As someone looking at having to rebuild some semblance of a community from scratch, it's disappointing to think I'm going to have to soft ban something in a brand new edition or risk TFG/NPE powergamers undoing my efforts by driving away newer players. I can't fathom how this made it thru the Beta without significant pushback.
  3. Anyone playing within reasonable driving distance from central Michigan/Lansing?
  4. I suspect I was tracking what you appear to be referring to, that if a model that already has Burning +1 gets hit with another Burning +1 ability/trigger, that model's Burning condition stacks to +2. I guess what confused me was whether the Ability and Trigger on the Witchling stack to +2 before the Condition is even applied to the target? On pg 52, under the description of Conditions, it says "Conditions may also stack with Abilities which share the same name and include a value." Both the Witchling Stalker's Ability and Trigger show a value, but I guess I wasnt sure if that reference indicated an ability and a trigger can in fact stack?
  5. Simple question, really... The Witchling Stalker has a built-in ability that all models it damages get Burning +1. It's ranged attack action has a trigger whereupon the target gets Burning +1. Does this stack to create Burning +2, or simply remain Burning +1?
  6. That's actually the primary reason I was asking, actually... In a casual setting, I don't want friends thinking me TFG for dropping Lady J against Ressers, etc. yet at the same time essentially auto-lose because I wasn't playing the faction "as intended". Does that make any sense?
  7. By way of explanation, I am under the understanding that Guild masters are direct counters (Lady J vs Ressers, Sonnia vs Arcanists, etc.) to other factions in the fluff and at least to a certain extent functioned that way on the table in previous editions on the table. I wondered how pronounced that effect was in the game and whether it's still noticeable in M2E? Basically I guess I'm wondering if you are completely hosing yourself if you drop a Guild master in a game against an opponent OTHER than their purported counter?
