  1. Very very well put. The things that got changed were basically unavoidable NPEs, not simply things that were "a bit too good". I applaud the design team for being brave and making the game healthier. Belles still have the best lure in the game. They still have one of the highest wound to soul stone cost ratios in the game. They're still probably one of the best 5SS models in the game. As a Seamus player I'm not even mad, it means I can play belles and feel less dirty about it.
  2. Looking very good, excellent set of changes! Belle cuddle has been coming for so long, they're still an awesome 5SS model so good job on not going too far.
  3. Personally I'm very happy that Malifaux and TOS are very different games - after all we already have malifaux and a ludicrous number of crazy masters. We don't need any overlap. TOS is its own thing, and it's really interesting because of that. The built in movement trays alone are very innovative.
  4. I think it would be interesting to have earth side (king and abyssinia) and malifaux (CotBM and Hordes) have separate merc models. Would likely make balancing slightly easier, with fewer interactions, and would allow some ownership of the mercs.
  5. It would make a lot of sense, I also noted how it seems fairly easy for the Gibbering Hordes to summon models and how they have to kill their own models to flip to glory so I think we're right about it being fairly "one shot you're dead" kind of stuff, otherwise there's no way being able to summon so easily would work, and it wouldn't really be worth killing a unit just to get another to glory if it had a lot of wounds on it. The champions can generally attach 2 upgrades and the titans three, but champions also have fairly decent Df stats.
  6. I quite like trying to figure it out - been pouring over the faction video trying to understand and figure out as much as I can. Probably mostly wrong, but it's a fun exercise. The lack of a wound count or marker was something that stood out to me from the very start.
  7. However it does mean that bigger units like champions are the titans could be one shot. I am surmising here, but I think that they can perhaps discard asset cards instead of getting destroyed - which is why the titans seem relatively cheap (8 points) but you give them assets to buff them up and also give them "wounds". I think that would be pretty cool - because a bit hit would weaken those models, as well as damaging them.
  8. I've been trying to figure out some of the new stuff: Assets seem to essentially be upgrades. The new triggers with the number in a circle e.g. (3) I think mean that either the fireteam you're hitting or the team you're in has to have that many members. Not sure about that one. Each leader has a "TA" value, I assume are tactics points/cards. The card stat values are speed, defence, willpower and armour Can't really figure out how wounds work or even if the game has them, is a unit just dead if you beat the armour value by how much you beat them in the duel + damage of the attack? Most things seem to have a set 1-3 damage with some being higher, nothing seems to be much greater than 5 in specific circumstances.
  9. I'm not sure of Aaron can talk about this or not - but is glory only for a turn, or for the rest of the match?
  10. I'm so so so intrigued by TOS. We have such little info, but the factions are spectacularly cool. I'm tempted to pick up both Burning Man and Hordes if the game looks good. It's basically the Malifaux army level game - I'm just wondering how the game actually plays and what kind of mechanics there are. I don't expect the intricate interplay between models of the skirmish level Malifaux, however I do hope you can do real funky stuff. Really hoping for a Monday preview with more stuff before the Kickstarter - it's all going too slowly!!!!!
  11. Thanks again Aaron. Have to say all the factions look very cool.
  12. I think you'll find it's pronounced Justin Gibbering Hordes.
  13. Thanks Aaron. I'm interested for sure, but I think I have more questions than anything at the moment. The factions revealed so far all look great, and importantly all very different than the current Malifaux factions.
  14. So how much do we know about the actual game, and how it plays? Are there masters? What are the objectives like? How many models in a typical army?
  15. I have to echo those who feel that the game doesn't need new masters at this point. We have loads, I would absolutely love to see alternate sculpts, new limited upgrades, new henchpeople and new minions for the current masters. Which would neatly fit into a box, like the master boxes and fill that niche of the product release cycle!
  16. Cool, thanks for the thoughts. She does have an element of synergy with Phiona - both want to activate late in the turn. Activate Alison as your second last activation, then activate Phonia who gets all her positive flip goodness but also heals. Also works well with flurry - so Francisco can heal 3 wounds rather than 2 from the aura. So I guess there is some synergy with Nellie, if not a whole lot. Franc and Phiona can to some degree keep her kind of safe by engaging models that attack her and push them away, so they should only really get one chance to attack her. She seems super interesting. I'll probably work her into my Nellie crew regardless, Phiona and Frank can put out plenty of hurt, and 2 reporters is probably enough for most purposes. The other two slots will be Alison and Loco.
  17. That would have been ridiculous. Still works great with the +flip for melee for propaganda.
  18. Does promises give you a +ve flip to all Nellie's attacks? Because that is ridiculously good if so...
  19. So she does 1/3/4 damage but gets +2 damage near guard models? She also heals models when they attack after her activation right? Does that synergise with Propaganda giving out of activation attacks?
  20. Is she viable without guardsmen? Don't have the book but interested about working her into my Nellie crew.
  21. Although I never thought of the watcher trick. You could take a watcher instead, and then use it to get 2 soul stones extra a turn with Guild funds, which Frank and Phiona can blow on damage prevention. That might be better.
  22. Without healing I think it is probably not worth it. But since Nellie can heal a model with both Delegation and Guild Funds it is great. Also makes it harder for models to kill Phi or Frank with their H2K as they're probably gonna have to spend an extra attack to get them down to H2K. With Phiona/Frank and Nellie it is WAY better than in most other lists. And remember frank can also heal himself. With Nellie healing him, him healing himself, armour and H2K he is really hard to take down.
  23. The real use of delegation isn't to give out Fast - it's to heal models or get scheme markers out. With H2K on Frank and Phiona it is often the best to heal them and give them fast rather than propaganda. I play with both Frank and Phiona - and give them both Lead Lined Coat. H2K, armour, decent Df and healing make them really hard to take down if you play them right. You can also get Phone up to Df 9 with Frank. Need a scheme marker to push Nellie? Need one for Hot off the Presses? Give one of your models fast at the same time. A model about to die? Heal it for 2 with Nellie and also give it an extra AP. I really like Delegation in my lists. No I don't use it every turn, but it gives you another excellent tactical option that will be the best option at least a few times a turn.
  24. At what point do you think an update is in order? Like I said currently we have a master with errata on their core rules. We have models that have errata on their core rules. We have a complete smorgasbord of (0) patch upgrades to fix under performing models that not only adds rules bloat to the game but creates a situation where people can play legal models for the same cost that are worse than their opponents playing the same models because they haven't bought the upgrade packs and may not know. There are no broken masters in the game like old Hamelin, but there are definitely masters like Lucius and Yan Lo that could do with a little love. There are some rules that really could do with overhauling, specifically elevation and LoS. And whether you like to admit it or not there are a couple of slightly problematic models in the game. M2E has been out for 4+ years at this point - which is as long as 1st edition was out before M2E came about. Now absolutely M2E was far more needed than an update now, but it doesn't mean the game wouldn't benefit from a smaller update now. All games go through revisions, and that is *healthy* for the game. Going 6+ years with confusing vantage point rules and an endlessly increasing number of patch upgrades (do they come with the models if you buy them now?) and errata isn't what I want to see from Malifaux. Many are arguing that updating the game makes things "messy" for current players. I would argue the opposite - that having a modern and clean set of rules, that takes into account 4 years of feedback and errata, makes things less confusing for players and the game better overall. With the number of patch upgrades and amount of errata I feel the game without an update is getting quite messy. "oh yeah your master doesn't work like that anymore" for Levi. "Oh yeah that model isn't very good unless you have this (0) upgrade patch in generalist upgrade pack 2, but you can still play it and be at a disadvantage" is kind of where we are at the moment. So would the "confusion" of a "general upgrade pack" that consolidates current errata and maybe updates 5 or so models per faction, and an update to LoS rules be too much to make it worth it? I don't think so, and I think the game would be better off. Personally I've never gotten the rules Luddite point of view. If the game can be made cleaner, better and more balanced every couple of years with a maintenance update why wouldn't you want that? The argument it would confuse the current player base I don't buy - because why would that confuse them while all the current errata, patch upgrades and poor elevation rules not? They will be confused either way, but one way makes the game better and the other leaves it with poor rules, some questionably balanced models and rules bloat.
  25. From memory when they first announced the upgrade mechanic that was one of the things they cited as reasoning behind it - the ability to update masters to work with new models, have new play styles, and stay relevant in the meta. Don't have a link though. It's also the only way I can imagine them being able to incorporate Reporters into a Pandora crew - currently she has no way to hire them. So either she gets a new upgrade that allows her to do so, or there is no reason for the "Woe" characteristic on their card (which would be unusual).
