  1. My group has a house rule that you can't cheat fate if you have 0 ranks in a skill. Makes it a bit more interesting to spread out the skill points we've found.
  2. One problem with the Outcast faction is the lack of overlap between their different crews. I can't really think of one that has models Jack Daw wants to run. Personally, from a fun stand point, I'd pick up the Crossroad 7. They are really fun models and play well with Jack and some of them you can slot into other crews as well. If you want another crew for variety you can pick up any crew really but Hamelin WILL require some additional purchases
  3. I haven't really had a chance to try him out in second edition but Guild Riflemen and Beckoners both seem good with him, maybe a beatstick I think Mr Graves is a mimic?
  4. I wouldn't suggest Bound by Law, I really feel Lucius needs additional models to work. He does share some models with Jacob Lynch though (Beckoners for example are great for both and there are some other Mimics that both can hire that are cool) So if you want to start with Dark Debts he'd be a fine second pick up. Any of the others work well out of the box but if you're going to buy more than one try to pick two that share a faction, it'll make your life easier
  5. As someone who likes high mobility (Wood Elf player in WHFB) I went straight to Neverborn. Lilith and all the Nephilim are really fast (terror tots are crazy fast). Zoraida can transform into a bird and has obey to move around models(and make enmies attack eachother), she also come with Silurids who are really fast. Dreamer is fast and squishy but can transform into Lord Chompy Bits who is a tough high damage fighter. Beckoners and Mr.Graves have a bunch of movement tricks and Hungering Darkness is a moblie slaugther machine. Pandora has pushes and Lucius can order people around. Neverborn is generally very fast and have access to plenty of flying and incoporeal units, tons of abilities to move either themselves or other models around. Most factions have a few high mobility options but Neverborn have more fast models than slow models. In my games I'm almost always the one to get the first charge.
  6. The wiki is a pretty good source of information for new players https://pullmyfinger.wikispaces.com there's also a few good instructional battle report type videos (can't really link them on my phone atm) that should be pretty easy to find.
  7. Pretty much anything in the miniature game works in the rpgs and can be ported over easily. There are advanced classes for all the human Malifaux factions. If you want a game as comparisson it's probably most similar to WoD out of the games I've played. The game is basically sandbox with very little focus except "you're in malifaux, go nuts!". But with rules for all skills and such. Progression is kind of similar to Pathfinder with things happening on tiers but you can mulitclass like crazy with no penalty since you decide which class you want to level at the start of a session. In our Pathfinder campaign we're playing a priestly order trying to contain mages and being on the brink of war with the kingdom... Last session ~8hr long I rolled less than ten dice, not sure if that"s how the game normally works but it's fun
  8. I've read this thread like 5 times now and I don't understand it so I need to reply for the sake of my own sanity. It's... an RPG... just like every RPG it's about whatever you want it to be about.. It's an RPG set in Malifaux.... Just like World of Darkness would be an RPG set in the World of Darkness univese and Pathfinder a story in the Pathfinder univeerse. It's a framework from which you create your own story. That's how RPGs work. It's kinda like expecting people to bring their own dice to a dice RPG and the cost is pretty much exactly the same, besides most people already own a deck of playing cards they can use. It mostly comes down to what kind of story you'd prefer to make. I don't know if we just do it very differently in my group but we think of a type of story we'd like to play and then pick the most suitable story. Last year we wanted to do an RP about Knights so we picked up the Game of Thrones RPG. Before that we wanted to play space pirates so we went with Rogue Trader. There's plenty of information about what Malifaux is about so it shouldn't really be difficult to figure out if the setting suits your group or not. I hope this didn't came across as rude in any way it just seems like me and my group has a very different view of RPGs than you so it all seems sort of confusing to me haha xD
  9. Personally I love that not everything is mapped out in insane tables that cover 1/3 of the book, it gives me more freedom to create my own stuff And the katana would just be a sword with the folded steel upgrade wouldn't it?
  10. The lore in the TtB books is pretty great, you wont be disappointed :3
  11. My order wont go through, it works fine until I submit it, then I get an error saying I didn't enter a billing address... but I did Anyone get the same issue? EDIT: Solved it, apparently it wont let me type non-english letters in my address... that's kind of rediculous because this way I actually have to enter the wrong address and hope the post office manage to figure out what the letters are supposed to be... This is the first online store I've had to do this for and I think this needs to be fixed, seriously I should be able to write my address like it is.
  12. I would have loved to join but the time difference just doesn't work
  13. I think it's in the rules for specific ap, it came up in one of our games but I don't have a book with me atm and I don't remember where we found it.
  14. Kill the Gamin before they get to you? They die easily
  15. Got Obeyed by Huggy to kill his friendly Dead Rider and then got shot to death by Jacob :3 Die(again) stupid pile of junk!
