  1. Actually, plastic is supposed to be cheaper. The cost of tin (which is a major component of most metal miniatures) keeps skyrocketing, while the price of the various types of plastics used for miniatures stays pretty stable. This is the main reason most companies are switching to plastics. Now, $11 isn't bad for a plastic miniature, as long as it's actually worth $11. Look at the malifaux child or the doppleganger; there just isn't really that much there, certainly not $11 worth (of plastic or "art" or anything else). It's like asking $11 for Baby Kade just because that's the "standard price for single Rare 1 miniatures". Can you honestly say miniatures like the malifaux child are equal to other $11 miniatures? This is what I meant by price creep, not necessarily that prices are going up, but that we seem to be getting less for the same price. I also don't care if malifaux is cheaper overall to play than other games just because you need fewer miniatures to play it. I wouldn't pay $50 a miniature even if I only needed 3 miniatures to play the game, $50 for a single plastic miniature is asking too much. $11 for a doppleganger is definitely starting to feel like too much. As for Wyrd being a small company and having to charge more to "keep the lights on", that's backwards logic. People see the higher prices and go elsewhere, meaning less business for Wyrd, which means less money in their pockets. If they lower prices more people will start buying their stuff which means in the long run Wyrd ends up making more money. It's just a shame everyone seems to think the solution is always to raise prices, not lower them.
  2. Just saw the prices for some of the new stuff coming out over the next couple months. $50 for a crew set that only includes 6 minis? $11 for a single doppleganger or malifaux child? How much gold dust have they starting packing with these minis? These prices are ridiculous for metal miniatures, let alone plastic ones.
  3. If we have to have avatars at all (I'd also be happy without them) I'd rather they be more like epic warcasters in warmachine. Basically they're just different builds of existing warcasters (or in this case masters). It works pretty well in warmachine, don't see why it's such a big deal for malifaux.
  4. Ah, I haven't been able to get my hands on a copy of book 3 yet, so I guess I was missing the vital story telling of Nytmare's recruitment into the Neverborn. The fluff for the Dreamer in book 2 simply ends by saying Nytmare is being hunted by humans and neverborn alike. I have to say, I really like the fluff for Malifaux, especially how it evolves over time to fill in gaps or advance certain character's story lines. The writers really did an amazing job.
  5. I'm trying to do up some of the special terrain for Malifaux and I'm a little stumped with regards to the carnivorous plants. How do you make something that's Ht 0 severe terrain? Do I need to make carnivorous moss or something? Does anyone have any ideas or examples they can share?
  6. The background for the Dreamer states that Nytmare is hunted by both Neverborn and humans, so how come he's not Outcast? Hamelin is similar to the Dreamer and he's Outcast. Similarly, Collodi has absolutely no connection to the Neverborn, so why is he considered part of their faction? Again, he seems more like an Outcast. If these ancient entities do belong among the Neverborn then why isn't Hamelin a Neverborn? Am I missing some stories that describe why these Masters are with the factions they're with?
  7. Wow, the new Dreamer set looks really nice, and the paint scheme so far really suits them. Any word on when the crew box is supposed to be released?
  8. A little while ago my hard drive crashed and I lost my copy of the wave 2 cards pdfs. Since they no longer seem to be available on this web site I was hoping someone still had the pdfs and would be able to send me copies. If you do and you can please let me know.
  9. I'm really in need of a Teddy 2E card. Sadly I don't have any cards to trade, but i you have a spare you'd like to sell please let me know.
  10. I have two 1E metal crew boxes that I'd like to sell: Pandora and the Dreamer, $20 each (contact me for shipping quotes). Both are open, but unassembled and unpainted. All stat cards are included. I'm also hoping that someone out there has a spare Teddy 2E card they'd be willing to sell. I've decided to stick to the 1E metal Teddy and I'd really like a 2E stat card to go with him.
  11. I recently got a copy of M2E and I've been thinking of making up some of the special terrain in the story encounters section. I'm a little unsure what Ht represents though. For example, the ancient monument is Ht 5, but how big is that exactly? Does Ht translate 1:1 into inches, or does each Ht represent 1/2 an inch, or is it exponential, etc?
  12. I have two of the 1e metal crew boxes I'd like to trade. Both boxes are open, but the miniatures are unpainted and unassembled. All stat cards are included: Pandora Dreamer I'm looking for the following 2e items: Teddy Nephlim box set Beckoners box set Doppleganger
  13. I don't really have anything to trade except cash, but I'm looking for a Teddy 2E card from the Neverborn arsenal deck.
  14. Does anyone happen to have a spare Teddy 2E stat card they would like to sell? I'm just looking for the stat card, not the miniature itself.
  15. Will the Malifaux 2 rulebook be available in pdf anytime soon? I really want to get it, but I'm getting kind of sick of waiting for the print copies to become available again. If a pdf version existed there wouldn't be these problems of not having enough copies to meet demand.
  16. Can someone explain how soulstone pools work exactly in 2E? Say I have Pandora, with a cache of 3. With 25 soulstones to hire a crew with I could have 21 stones worth of models and upgrades, and a soulstone pool of 7, effectively giving me a 28 point army, correct? Now lets say I have Candy as the leader instead. She's a henchmen with a cache of 7. So I can have 25 soulstones worth of models and upgrades, and a soulstone pool of 7, giving me a 32 point army? Why do I get more with henchmen then I do with masters? Or am I doing this all wrong? This confused the heck out of me in 1E, and it doesn't seem to be any clearer in 2E (I'm working off the playtest rules 06/27. If it's clearer in the proper release then I apologize and please ignore this post).
  17. I have some questions regarding the new crew boxes. How many soulstones do they add up to? Will every crew box have a totam and a henchmen in it? Are crew boxes supposed to be played with the master and totem, or are the designed to be played with the henchmen as the leader?
