  1. Hi all! I am organising a tournament in Alphen aan den Rijn (The Netherlands) on the 23rd of October. For all who are interested, feel free to join us! More info below (in Dutch), and on our facebook page, Dutch Malifaux Guild. For the day you can choose to play in the tournament (starting 10:00), or just visit us for a casual game of 'faux (starting 12:00).
  2. No grudges? But we where visiting to settle the score on the Anglo-Dutch wars!
  3. Saturday 13th of august will be Malifaux game day in Alphen aan den Rijn (The Netherlands)! You are all welcome to bring your 'faux and get some games in. Some of us will want to try out new crews or builds, others will be refining their play. The day will be held at the Games Guild, www.gamesguild.nl starting 13:30 and lasting until 0:00 (or later if people want :))! See you there! I will also be available for demo's. Feel free to contact me for more info or questions.
  4. Anywhere we can find the results? Really curious what faction won, which where played, etc.
  5. I faced Neverborn (Collodi), and was wondering what list you would bring to: Strategy: Interference Schemepool: Detonate the Charges, Show of Force, Take Prisoner, Mark for Death, Convict Labour I ran the following, very unsuccesfully I picked Detonate the Charges and Take Prisoner Resurrectionists 50ss Crew Tara -- 4ss +Knowledge Of Eternity - 2ss +Obliteration Symbiote - 2ss +Dead Of Winter - 1ss Karina - 5ss +The Faces Of Oblivion - 0ss Death Marshal - 6ss Death Marshal - 6ss Killjoy - 13ss +Decaying Aura - 2ss Rotten Belle - 5ss Void Wretch - 4ss Void Wretch - 4ss
  6. I've read your blogs and really like reading along with your adventures. As I have tried some Nicodem lately as well, I can relate. For me it didn't work well. Summoning feels like a trap, and one I am too eager to fall into every time. Hopefully your win-ratio will get better in the coming games!
  7. I am following this as I am getting the Dutch together. Refreshed the site and saw only 4 tickets left. I got those last four! SO that;s team NL, Tim+3!
  8. Run Nico without Mortimer? That's something I want to try, if only to not fall for the '2 corpses a turn + summon' trap again. What would be a semi regular list (or core of your list) when you run Nico, @jonahmaul?
  9. (bit late reply) That's great news! We had our Dutch Malifaux Rankings up at the old site, and would be cool if you could host our rankings on the new site as well. We don't have as many events as you guys over in the UK (I am jealous!), but our competative players like the rankings and at every event people mention it. I sent the latest tourney results to you earlier, but let me know if you would like more info or if I can be of any help!
  10. I think I have fallen for the exact trap you've named: I am mostly just summoning. I check my hand, and see every high card become something nasty. It gimps my gameplay, I think. Will give Rogue Necromancy a go, sounds like a good one. Sebas crossed my mind as well, but spending so many points just for the occasional card + ss? Rather hire something I want to use straight away.
  11. Hey, I wanted to share my recent Nicodem experiences. Inspired by this guide I have tried to get the most out of Nicodem, playing three games so far. Two of those I wanted to try the 'wall of armor', and went with graveyard spirit + Izamu + Hannah. I feel that Nico has a large mandatory list, summoning in the models needed for the schemes and strategy. Thus my lists didn't have much variation so far, and with all the big expensives (Mortimer, Izamu, Hannah) there's not much room for anything else than a Nurse and some other cheaper critters. Overall my experiences gave me this idea of Nico: I learned to really love the Nurse. Usually I play her with McMourning ,where I use her a lot to make poison. But as Nico doesn't need poison she's freed up for giving the enemy some doses. She is bonkers, paralysing multiple models every game, and a heal-in-dire-need when the oppertunity arises (usually when people try to kill Nico but fail); A large part, if not all, of the crew is very repetative, which I found a bit of a boring playstyle. Mortimer just spams corpses, Nico just spams summons, etc, etc. I feel there is hardly any combo's or smart play to make, but to try and stack the summon advantage as much in my favour as possible; I have summond loads of Hanged, and they are great, but not for damaging. So far I feel the crew is really low on damage output. Mostly because it doesn't contain that many beaters, but also of all the summoning draining your hand, making it hard to actually hit stuff you want to hit. In one game I threw everything I had on turn three on a Colette and she survived on one wound (after making her teacher's pet so I could finish her off). Another game it took my entire crew two turns to kill Shen Long. I am not impressed at this department; Summoning scheme runners had most effect for me ingame. But it made me wonder: instead of summoning them over a couple of turns, would just recruiting them in the list not be much more effective? I feel it's such a shame to burn a soulstone for a summon of just 5 ss; The crew is very very slow, it's easy to clog yourself up with too many models, and it tends for a grinder like playstyle. I didn't really enjoy this, tbh, as I think I favour a more mobile playstyle. I think I will give Nico a couple more goes before I come to my conclusion if I want to add him to my fav masters, or not. So far I think I won't get into him, sadly. On paper he looks really cool, but on the table he (and his crew) becomes very repetative and predicable. I do see him being a strong master (even if he lost me 2/3 games, when usually I win all my games). I want to try to run him with Toshiro instead of Izamu, and try to summon more midranged beaters. That way I can start with two belles to speed up Nico and Morti, so they can actually get into an effective position on the board. Also the poison list is something I would like to try!
  12. Mispost - said some thing that should go in the Nicodem thread instead (given it's about him, not McM).
  13. Just wanted to add a thanks for this info about McM here. I currently have played 5 games with him, inspired by the discussion in this thread. Also did a tournament, where I won all the games with him. McM is a beast! Some of my experiences, for those that might be interested: I found that McM could do all the strats and schemes for the tournament very well. He's very mobile and creating extra models by killing enemies is very valuable. Especially the mobility; it just plain wins games; Something I didn't expect, is that Expunge isn't the end to all; in a lot of situations I used the other 0 where you could push a friendly model and make a scheme marker. One of the things I realised I overused before, was Expunge. Still, Expunge is great, but it's chosing the right tool for the job; McM can be squishy. When focussed he usually dies. I tried not extending him (too much), and it's very tempting to try for that combination to do something great, then be disappointed because your opponent manages to evade one of the duels you need to make. Also on models with low wounds its easy to accidently kill them with a melee attack I wasn't really clear if poison damage ignores hard to kill (with Sebas close, ofc); One game I fielded Shikome for the mobility, but found that using them for schemes only makes for quite an expensive model; Taking two Belles and a Nurse is the core for my crew. Rafkin also made every cut so far, but almost died every game (so squishy!) and without making his points, imo. Nurses are insanely good; Getting poison spread on a couple of enemy models is quite hard. Usually its one, maybe two, that get some poison before they die. I was looking to set up a bomb where I spread some poison on lots of models, and then rush Sebas in, but I just couldn't make that. I feel that you need to rely on a blast making poison. Rafkin can do that, but only at 6" distance (which is very hard as he tends to fold immediately when pressured), or the Crooked Man (which is much better then I gave it credit for!) Decaying Aura (the you cant heal within 4", no ss reduction against dmg from this model) is so insanely good on McM. Had a game vs Mei Feng, and he just totally ripped her apart. She overextended, and McM sliced her like there's no tomorrow. She did well in undeath Arcanists with the right upgrades can make a couple of models immune to lures (strip suits) AND conditions (poison). Without the poison the crew loses a lot of its sting. Luckily for Decaying Aura so that Kang stayed down, but otherwise I think that would be an uphill battle; Choosing between the actions of McM is a great challenge sometimes. I feel Rancid Transplant is usually better than just stabbing things, until you factor in the healing stabbing does. McM needs that healing to stay topped up. Just wanted to share my experiences. Cheers! McM ftw!
  14. Thanks for clearing that up! Where can we find the rule pack you're referencing? I can't see a link in the first post, or am I missing something? Thought I had found it somewhere, earlier, but can't remember where :S
  15. Gotta say, really lovin' Vassal! Great way to get games in with people you would otherwise be unable to play, meet those new people, and have a great time!
  16. Hey, I just found this thread as I want to track my games as well. Looks good, and will use it for my games.
  17. Hi all, I would like to invite you to the Malifaux Fight Club; a league where we play Malifaux in a sort of Fight Club format. One exception: you may talk about this fight club Let me know if you like to join the league. Every two weeks you will receive an opponent you are playing somewhere in the coming two weeks. The results are passed to me. You can play the game whenever fits both players, so at the Games Guild, another store, during the weekend, during weekdays. That doesn't matter, making this a very flexible way to participate in the league! I got the prize support, so all you have to do is sign up with me, and we can make this a pretty Fight Club!

  21. I am working on a collective order for cards over here, and also noticed Metal Gamin isn't in the list. Any ETA on when the errata'd cards will be up? Wonder if I should hold off the order for a bit, or if it takes longer and I should plan a second order at a future time.
