  1. While this is all well and good, and I am certainly not arguing the point of amazing sculpts, It kinda bugs me to see identical models in the same warba- crew, I mean crew. I suppose it's a holdover from Inquisitor, which is the retarded inbred child of a skirmish game and an RPG. In Inquisitor, every single character had a story and personality and such. This was reflected in their model, which was carefully crafted. (There were a total of about 30-40 inquisitor models. People learned to be inventive in their kitbashing.) Most of my concern was with telling a better story than the base model allows, while remaining true to the fluff. This will especially come up if I'm using nameless grunts, as they can be anyone I wish as long as their rules remain and I keep to WYSIWYG. (unless there's rules against this.)
  2. Thank you to everyone so far! I've been offered a chance to demo the game on Sunday by Chargy, a Henchman here in Rochester. I'll do my best to keep some notes as I play - this seems like a good chance to make a "journal of a newb" for the perusal and amusement of all.
  3. So after several friends (who sadly don't live close enough to demo the game ) gushed to me about Malifaux for about an hour, I stopped them long enough to get some clarification. "Wait," I said, anticipation growing within me. "This is Inquisitor, but people PLAY it?" (Inquisitor is a specialist GW game based on warband skirmishing.) I was instantly hooked. While I love Inquisitor, I have decided to leave behind the constant fruitless search for players and make the leap to Malifaux. I just have some questions. 1) I love the look of Von Schill and his Freikorps - the uniforms that allow individuality along with a collective aesthetic theme seems right up my alley. The lore feels right, too, with a highly trained specops team using skill and tactics to drop the flashier/trickier crews. Will this be an alright starting point for someone new to Malifaux, but not TT games? 2) Looking around, I'm not seeing many conversions of the models - is there a reason for this? 3) Would there be someone in the Rochester area to contact so I could watch a few games and maybe borrow a crew for a game myself before I spend money? I live close to Millennium Games, if that helps. 4) I tend towards a straightforward tactics based style of play, preferring power/simple ability over tricks. Is there a better crew that's not too reliant on tricks for me to start with? I was told Guild in general are pretty forgiving. 5) What's needed besides the models to play other than rulebook, tape measure, and deck? What's nice to have but not needed? 6) Anything you can tell me for general tips and tricks? Anything you wish you had known when you started? Answers to any of these questions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
