  1. Hi, The Aethervox did a very good Tactica podcast on Lucius. It sounds like he's a tricky henchman to play as a master but this podcast made me think it was doable, so he's next on my guild list. I hope it helps! http://theaethervox.com/2011/10/09-the-aethervox-i-love-lucius/#more-202 B'Barfer
  2. Hi, I was playing Sonnia the other night and managed to cast a flameburst at McMourning. I flipped.for damage at a single negative flip and out came a 2 of crows and a red joker. Consulting the rules, we weren't sure if, as I got the red joker I could then flip again for extra damage. The book seemed to imply in one sentence thaf you couldn't as it was on a negative flip, but then in the next seemed to talk as if you could. We didnt come to an obvious conclusion on this, so any clarification would be good! Thanks, B'Barfer
  3. Welcome to malifaux! I found it daunting at first too, but scouring the forums, listening to The Aethervox podcast and actually playing the game made things much smoother for me. Most players are happy to handhold you thrpugh your first games. Also, I added pics of my minis by uploading pics to a flickr account and linking to it in my post. Hope that helps! B'barfer
  4. I agree, something fairly generic like d&d or pathfinder could work well. I was wondering of there was a way to incorporate the fate deck system as well.
  5. Hi folks, So, Malifaux is the only miniatures game I play, coming from an RPG background. The narrative and fluff was what really encouraged me to part with my cash and buy all those paints. As such, I've been considering using the malifaux setting for an RPG at my gaming club (with the vain hope of encouraging some of the hardcore RPers to get involved in malifaux) and was wondering of anyone else had tried this? Let me know what you think! B'barfer
  6. Thanks! I know what you mean about a wash on hoffmans clothes, but not sure im confident enough to.do it just yet. The guy in the model shop suggested a tin of stuff you just dip the mini into to get the effect of a wash, though he said it dries shiny. Out of interest, what proportion of thinners to paint should i use for a wash? I have medium thinners. Or, do I just mix with water?
  7. Hi folks, I'm new to the hobby, and my first crew (Sonnia) I sent off to be painted professionally as I just didn't think I would be able to paint something so small. With my second crew (Hoffman) I thought I would have a go, as the constructs are mostly one colour. These are first miniatures (or any type of model) I've ever painted, so I'm pretty happy with them. The only one I'm not keen on really is Hoffman himself. For the time being though, he's going to have to remain a mannequin. http://www.flickr.com/photos/breachbarfer/ construction criticism appreciated! Also, sorry for the low grade phone pics! Thanks B'Barfer
  8. Thank you all! Just finished that game and though it was a draw on vp, he only had one miniature left on the table! His eye is blackened and his nose doth bleed!
  9. Hi guys, So, tonight is my very first malifaux match since the demo game that made me part with my money. I've got the sonnia boxset to play tonight, so sonnia, samael and 3 witchling stalkers. My friend is fielding the Collodi starter set. He's been pretty smug about the whole thing so I'd reqlly like to surprise him and send him home with a bloody nose! Is there anything i shoukd bare in mind when facing collodi and his crew? Any tips would really help! B'barger
  10. Thanks guys, all really helpful. The loctite super glue I'm using is probably right, I think the real problem here is my clumsy oafish hands not holding the joins steady enough while they bond. Admittedly, the one I've been struggling with is Ramos' right arm, which is particularly fiddly. Thanks all for your help, I'll definitely be checking some of these out! B'Barfer
  11. Hi Graeme, I have an unassembled Ramos box set if you'd be willing to trade? I'm keener on Guild but I'd be happy to switch for Nicodem. Also in the UK. Cheers, B'Barfer
  12. Hi Guys, This is the noobiest question of the day I'm sure, but I'm having glue issues. What glues do you use to construct you miniatures? I'm really new to the hobby - having had my first crew painted/constructed for me. I've been trying to use super glue but a single wobble of the miniature and the bond is knackered. Is there a special glue I should use - or am I missing a trick here/ Thanks for any help folks B'Barfer
  13. Hi guys, I'm awaiting the arrival of my Hoffman starter pack, and I noticed I still have an unpainted and unused Ramos starter pack. This got me thinkinh and i was wondering if I could use the arachnid steampunk swarms with Hoffman? If I can, what's the benefit and are there any costs to doing it? Thanks! B'barfer
  14. Thanks for the advice Dunce, it's kind of you.
