  1. Well, from Toronto to Indianapolis, the drive is 889kms and according to google maps, takes 9 hours and 11 minutes. Thats not actually all that terrible. You would also have to factor in the time needed to get out of Toronto (After living there for 18 years, I still haven't gotten used to judging how much time is needed to fight the traffic). Then there is the time spent at the border waiting... So yes, flying is probably your best bet. On a happier note, the Canadian Dollar is about on par with its American counterpart right now! It is a bit of a shock for Europeans to get used to the distance traveled between major cities. It likewise for North American's going over the Europe.
  2. I saw video of these miniatures from Blue Table Painting's youtube channel and I was forced to pause and gape at them. Now seeing them in high quality still images, I'm blown away. I agree, shenanigans on 18 hours only...
  3. I use a mix of GW and P3. I purchased the super mega paint set back in the day when I started out, but in hindsight, I probably should have put that money into getting Vallejo instead.
  4. New addition to the crew, Rafkin: I'm a little torn on how I feel about this model. My paint job is not the best I've ever done, but I'm trying to speed up my painting style to get more models done in time for a local tourney. The sculpt itself is a little... well static. Its not nearly as nice as the Zombie Punk or Mindless Zombies I have waiting for a paint job.
  5. Story of my life with certain (Not Wyrd thankfully) manufacturers...
  6. I'm happy that Malifaux does not use true line of sight, otherwise you could not model such a cool looking miniature! I've seen this lamp post quite a few times on this site, where did you get it?
  7. I LOVE the pink on the left one, very nice looking zombie flesh.
  8. The base looks fantastic, as does the red duster. Like everybody else has said already, the slot base is a little odd, but I would guess that in person it is not as noticeable.
  9. No, it's a one piece model. Got to fondle it last week at my FLGS and I was disappointed with it being one solid model.
  10. When I grabbed my first crew box (Nico) I also picked up some base inserts and am rather happy with them. Some models are a bit odd to mount and pin, but for the most part, they look awesome, add much needed weight to lower the center of gravity and in all, improve the look of the model. I still scratch build most of my bases, but every now and then if I find a look I like, I will buy inserts or resin ones.
  11. Good day all, Long time wargamer, mostly in historical gaming, but after a while, painting the same model over and over and over can get boring. Enter Malifaux, which uses unique models and each of them are a total treat to paint. I've only been painting and playing Malifaux for under a month, but I am totally hooked now and look forward to expanding my collection for a long time to come. Wyrd has the advantage in terms of stealing all of my hobby money in that they are the first company to produce a game system and models that interest my fiancee, which makes things infinitely easier. I've started with the Nicodem crew box, but I also have the Colette one cleaned and waiting to be pinned and have the bases built. Nicodem of course was the first Malifaux model I painted Some other models I have done in the last six months:
  12. As a long time historical wargamer, I finally snapped in January. If there is one thing that burns out painters more then anything else is having to repeatedly paint nearly identical models in vast quantities. This is what happened to me last month. After finishing up yet another batch of 28mm Seven Years War models, I had had enough for the time being. I pride myself on not being a speed painter and enjoying every aspect of the hobby, including putting fantastic looking models and terrain on the table. One of the major problems with historical wargaming is you usually need a large quantity of models, most of which happen to be dressed in uniforms, thus all the figures in each unit are identical. Its rather taxing spending a two hour painting session only working on boots and rifles. All in all, this has pushed me to look for smaller scale games where I can enjoy spending many hours painting up individual models and experimenting with different techniques that normally take too long for mass production of models. I've looked into three different systems: Malifaux, Infinity and Dark Age. Out of the three, Malifaux really struck me as something I wanted to play. I've painted up both Infinity and Dark Ages models and find them a little bit to finicky to be durable and long lasting. Malifaux's game system and setting really appealed to me. The models are fantastic and for the first time my fiancee actually expressed true interest in painting and playing with me. I picked up two starter boxes at the end of January and I've been slowly working on individual models. First to hit my painting desk was Nicodem's crew box. I LOVE these models. While Mortimer is not exactly the most up-to-date in terms of gameplay, its a nice model and has a bit more of a 3D pose to it. Nicodem is just plain awesome. I love painting this model and put more time into this single models then most full units with other systems. Next on the painting rank is a Punk Samurai Zombie (and the two models on the rack after that are all from the three pack that come with it). From there, I might start working on my Colette crew.
  13. In less then six months I’m going to be moving to the other side of the North American continent and while my better half is allowing me a room to store all of my wargaming stuff, I have been warned that it will be not much larger then a walk-in closet… So its time to slim down my collections. I’m keeping my historical stuff, but my GW stuff is going for really cheap. Malifaux is the one game that my fiancée understands and really enjoys, so that’s what I’m looking for in terms of trades. Warhammer Fantasy Battles Ogre Kingdoms: Tyrant (Painted) Butcher / Slaughter Master (Painted) Hunger + 2 Sabertusks (Painted) 4 Maneaters (2painted, 2 not) 9 Bulls / “Ogres” (8 painted, 1 not) 9 Ironguts includes command (Painted) 4 leadbelchers (painted) 1 WH Giant (Painted, not based) 50+ gnoblars (none painted) 14 metal Gnoblar trappers (none painted) I’m asking 4 Malifaux crew boxes for the whole collection Warhammer 40K Imperial Guard (All Cadian bodies; 90% lightly primed with Army Painter Red) Pig Iron Head equipped: -22 Riflemen -5 Sergeants -6 Melta -4 Flamer -1 Heavy Flamer -2 Plasma -1 Flag -1 Officer -8 Extra Heads Headless: -10 riflemen -4 Melta -2 Plasma -5 Sergeants -1 Flag -1 Officer Regular Cadian: -1 Vox -1 Medic -1 Officer -49 Riflemen For this whole collection, which is well over 300$ worth of models… I’m asking for just 2 Malifaux Crew boxes… Yep, I might be insane… All models are shipping from Canada and I will split 50/50 for the cost of shipping. Pictures are available to those who have serious interest.
  14. The basing style is rather interesting. How did you make the cards? I might have to steal this idea for my own Colette crew.
  15. Awesome paint job on the Killjoy! I love the base and the OSL, very evocative.
