  1. Lady Justice and The Judge ready for action too ... two really great miniatures from Wyrd - really enjoyed painting these two alongside Perdita. One of the Death Marshals is putting up a real struggle on getting the arm glued on - some of these Malifaux models can be a right pain.
  2. seriously stunning painting - i think most of us would love to be able to reach these standards great work - if i had to pick a crew i think Rasputina edges it
  3. Have some slightly better images now ... Coming soon .... Lady Justice
  4. Here is my first Malifaux crew ... The Ortegas Pretty happy with these, albeit still envious of what some can do with their paintbrush !
  5. yes thats actually quite obvious now - thanks all
  6. Probably a really easy one but i dont have anyone to ask locally. In the small rules book is says that magic resist is done using the flip + Ca stat - but then later on it gives an example using Ramos that says use the Df. What stat do you use to add to the flip to resist a magic attack ? Thanks
  7. New player here - tried a couple of test games today just 3 models a side to learn the mechanics and thought i would just check ive not completely lost the rule plot. Santiago was very impressive for his 7 cost (relative to Francisco and Nino anyway) - he seemed like a machine gun at one stage running with a rapid fire 3 shots he then pulled off trigger happy twice within these 3 shots (as far as i could work out he only had to hit a pull off a mask alongside the ram he already owns and the shot doubled up) - needless to say his oppenent couldnt cope with that many bullets. Perdita was equally efficient with quick draw and fast pulling off a lot of extra shots Did i miss something - why is Nino worth the same is it just the distance shot range that pulls his cost up ? One other question for now was Perdita Heros Gamble - can youin effect switch your control hand every time you activate her ? Anyway great fun - i really liked the card hand aspect and having to accept one hit to save a good card for later
  8. Thanks - on considering its not the rule mechanics that are hard, more that it feels like there is a lot of opportunity to miss an action or trigger. So more its about learning the first 5 characters special abilities and not missing stuff. Also i am never quite sure if i remembered the flip modifiers right but i will get there.
  9. I am new to the Malifux game this year - attracted by the models and the non dice element (the model design has the feel of the old Rackham Hybrid models i have). Got my first box set in January which is now painted up and i have a new page on my website for Malifaux for those interested. Still trying to get to grips with the rules but its worth it for building up the crew anyway. http://www.crusadersgolf.co.uk/index.html
  10. Had a look through all the boxes with my 9 year old and he threw a curveball at me. He really liked the sets for Nicodem (no surprise i guess that he wants zombies but i am not keen) and The Dreamer which looks more interesting. As i have no idea how these play just wondered if someone could advise on their suitability. I think i need to keep everything relatively simple as there is no point having it too complex. Still thinking on the Guild Guards to fit the city scenario best to start with or Rasputina if shes quite straightforward.
  11. Thanks for the replies so far. I took a look at the game in a shop in Surbiton Heroes and Legends and ended up with the rulebook, one fate deck and the Perdita box to get me started and to look through the rules. I am never going to be a competitive player but i liked the models, and play schematics so will try a relatively simple style game with my 9 year son for now - he seems quite keen and ill probably help play both sides for a while. Anyway got a bit taken with the terraclips and bought a Streets set - looks great all set up and was fun to build too. My son has already adopted it with some of this other game models. Will try and post a pic on my website soon - but the next step is what is Perdita's opponent going to be. I was orginally tempted by Rasputina (liked the models but not sure about spell orientation given its v my son). Theme wise with the Malfaux street the Guild Guards would work so well as the idea of street defenders but no idea how they play. Other choice is probably the Victorias as again the models are great and i think may work well v Perdita in a melee v shooters style game. Thanks for any thoughts again.
  12. good thread - going to take a look this weekend at the game and may get 2 starters myself one is very likely to be Perdita as i like the models and sounds like an easier one to get to grips with. i would like to play with 9 year son so dont want anything too tricky or horror related - possibly need a melee minded one assuming Perdita is range orientated for a good match ? the look of Lilith, Rasputina or Ramos boxes all may have model appeal to my son hard choice when you dont know the game well
  13. I am interested in the Malifaux game. I work in London (City) and live in South London (Croydon) - just wondered if there was anywhere around to get a proper look at the game in action. I like gaming but am never that competitive really, have played Warhammer Quest, Rackham Hybrid and Space Hulk over the years and was looking for something interesting to play and maybe get my 9 year old interested in. Is this suitable do you think ? I like the model so thats a good start - if i go for it will probably go for Perdita box to start on one side and need a realtive straightforward one i could teach my son. Any comments happily received.
