  1. Haven't given up on him, just taking a break. Sometimes stepping away gives me a fresh perspective. there is six other neverborn masters I want use. I usually leave the pictures to end of turn to keep it simple for me and to minimise interruption to the game. Sometimes I take more, sometimes less. Sometimes I forget. You will never see fantastic production from me, I just want to share the game with others with the minimal effort needed :-)
  2. Zoraida was my first ever master in 1st ed, and she is my first love. Haven't used her as much in 2n ed, and when I first did I struggled with her. used her for the first time in ages in a 3 player game recently and the flame is rekindled.
  3. Thanks for all the replies and feedback guys, it encourages me to keep going. The Aussie accent is quite distinct hey dead dingo. Ezyrider never born is how I'm going to play him, still working out when to include guardsmen. Riflemen would have been handy, but then again so would have hans. One of the things I could have done was kept the doppleganger near the beckoner and mimicked her ranged attack. Admanb, he has a rep of drawing very good hands. This game was no exception. Dirial, glad you are enjoying watching the differences between guild Lucius and neverborn Lucius. Do you ever take mimics from other factions with him.. I would have loved to have a witchling in that game. Sevensins, I am definitely finding him tricky. The only other master in 2nd that has given me as much trouble is Tara. He has a lot of good abilities, it's just trying to make it all work.

  7. I haven't used her since beta. when I did it was with Zoraida. found the obeys great for getting her in position. Only took one upgrade with her and that was obsidian talons.
  8. So far I have played at least three games each with the 14 masters that I own ( neverborn, resser). I have found only one other master as fiddly to use a Lucius and that is Tara. Without a doubt I consider him the the hardest neverborn master to use. I have lost all three games I have used him, but he has potential. I have used minions and mimics with him, but I think a mature neph may be in order. What I have noticed is that his " what lackeys are for" can be used on any friendly model, might be a good way to move the big brute around?
  9. this is the problem I had with him. I only took two guardsmen( rifleman, warden) with him. the rest were either minions or mimics. after both of the guardsmen went down i felt crippled. I concluded that i probably need another rifleman and warden, but at that stage his crew would look like a guild crew with some token neverborn. I think he can be nasty, but at this stage I could not be bothered trying to learn or buy more guild models. if i want to play a manipulator i'll take Zoraida.
  10. Seems to come down to peoples preferences and play style. Zoraida i see as being good for any strat and schemes. On the other hand I have used lucius twice now and I'm not bringing him out anytime soon.
  11. The player who won the tourney didn't take the mech rider in any of his games. my conclusion therefore is that the entire Arcanist faction is broken and needs to be cuddled. Get to it Justin!!!!!!!
  12. Can't see it getting a cuddle to be honest, at least not this soon. This thread shows that people are divided on wether it's to good or not. Time will tell I guess.

My last game I used the hooded rider to get me power ritual( flank deployment) and claim a squat marker first three turns, then moved it into the mix. in turns 4-5 it killed enemy models and removed scheme markers with its melee trigger. It was a very good investment. The Mechanical rider can start summoning from turn 2 onwards if you have a six of tomes. I think you could usually find jobs for them to do early game. if you dont then perhaps they are a waste.
  14. in our small group we are all of the opinion that the riders are perhaps a bit too good. the mechanical rider with Ramos in recon is just rude, damn spiders everywhere. our Arcanist player took it in all three games of small 4 player tourney we ran, he used three different masters and it performed great with all of them. he is our best player so this was also a factor( the main factor), but he does see that model as a "always take" model in a competitive enviroment. They are vulnerable the first two turns, but you just keep them out of the front lines for those. their mobility gets them into the mix quickly when you need them. And Their late game abilities can really push you over the top. I used the Hooded rider last game and came away very impressed. have faced the palerider and was similarly impressed. Just my two cents.
  15. I Know that third place was won by Mike Marshall of malifools fame. used collodi every game I think.
  16. Removing an enemy model's triggers on a CA7 is very nice. Cheat or stone rams on her melee attack and watch her shine. Terrifying 12(all), HtW, and armour 1 help her hang around despite average DF. Works really well with Molly if she has taken the limited horror upgrade. Can give the valedictorian a extra action. All in all I think she is good.
  17. uhm, they are painted. Vallejo wolf grey, wash, then off white. They do look like they have just been undercoated on the photos though
