So I had a day off of work yesterday and I wound up going full speed into this project. I figured If I build the houses first, separate from the board I can figure out the planning afterwards.
So I started with a 20x30 sheet of foam core, which worked out very nicely as the 5" front 4" back and 2x 3" sides worked out the 15" in total, so in a 4" lane I was able to cut 2 houses out, which means a board had enough space for 10 houses. Not bad for $1.40.
I'll skip most of the assembly pictures, but I took a cardboard box and cut it into strips for both the clap board siding detail and the front of the building. I am waiting for those coffee stirrers that I ordered from online, as I was told that was much easier. But being I wanted to see what it looked like I went ahead. I'm thinking I need some thin basswood or styrene strips to create some window sills and boarders....
*note* I will not be doing this again...the siding took FOREVER, and the front was even worse. Just in cutting strips I think it was close to 45 minutes
The inside of the houses will have textured walls. Either white with a hint of yellow of grey undercoating with a white drybrushing. Donno yet.
SO I have yet to finish the roof as well as the other 2 sides I didn't show you, but all the houses are cut out, and I have all my materials ready to go, just a matter of getting it all together. I think this is going to go by much quicker than I originally anticipated. I also am going to use the wire brush technique on the cardboard to give it more depth before I paint it. Also going to go back with my modelling tools to create more spacing between boards, again to add some realism...
Until next time!
p.s. any ideas on schemes best suited for the above masters? or how about some fluff scenarios involving 2 of the masters above. Much appreciated!
