  1. Here is my completed and based Hoffman/Ramos All Construct army. I love the robots. Went with a dirty orange/metallics color scheme. Probably most proud of my Ryle, such an awesome sculpt with a ton of detail and a crazy look. Just put this army up on ebay since I haven't been able to find anyone locally to play in almost a calendar year. Hopefully they go to a good home. Enjoy the pics, and bid if you'd like em. http://www.ebay.com/itm/131050164941
  2. I think Ramos is easier for a noob. Hoffman has a lot of using other people's abilities, which can take time to figure out the good synergies. But I started with him, and he's a fun time. I did branch out to Ramos shortly after. He's more a backline caster, while Hoffman likes to ride a clump or robots into battle.
  3. Ryle is very good against large crews, that gun is brutal, and Hoffman offsets his weaknesses. I run him construct only. I also really love the Soulstone Miner. So great for objectives, along with the Watcher. Those two things are unstoppable objective grabbers. Miner gets insignificant when unburying, but depending on the objective he's still hard to defend against.
  4. Out-activating a Peacekeeper crew is very good, as you can nickle and dime him to death. With his armor, you can't do much damage with a single attack. But with a bunch of guys doing 1 damage each hit, he can go down pretty quick if you devote a large team to shooting at him. I got second turn killed over the weekend with him by a gremlin crew. So many bullets.
  5. Ramos can't use the Watcher. It's one of the few Hoffman constructs that doesn't have shared technology, or whatever its called. And I see you always including the LSPA. I find him very lacking, since he doesn't do anything special really. The only time I bring him is against a heavily armored opponent, since he does do good things against armor. But that's a rare trait to come across, unless you're playing other constructs.
  6. Can't Ryle push off of Hoffman? I thought he could be treated as both living or a construct? That's how I play him with Ryle. I better stop reading these boards or it'll destroy all my strategies.
  7. Yeah, I don't think it becomes a friendly model after casting override edict for the purposes of other spells, you just get to control it and use it for one activation. But if so, a sound strategy. Good thinkin Abe Lincoln.
  8. Oops, yeah, it appears to be other. So, you would need the Mechanical Attendant to pull off auras/pulses near Hoffman.
  9. Couldn't Hoffman just choose to ignore that ability with his own Maintain Machines skill? It's always active, so he can ignore it as he sees fit.
  10. Yeah, I agree Peacekeeper should be required for Hoff. Buy him first. Or maybe her! Who knows what mechanical genetalia lurk under the hood. Lucius can do some fun stuff, but he is 10 stones and Ryle is 9 I think. That's 19 points for two characters and some fun gun tricks. Constructs already have problems with being very expensive so you're low on model count. When I run those two, it just makes the problem bigger. It's a fun combo to play with once you get more essential Hoffman stuff, but I wouldn't start with it.
  11. Haha, I used those cobblestone bases too. They are awesome. Pics of all the Ramos and Hoffman stuff based up: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?28294-Hoffman-amp-Ramos-amp-Robots-Oh-My!&highlight=
  12. There was Injun Joss in the book, who then just became Joss on the card, probably to be more PC. I think he's the only indian in the game so far.
  13. Is the Warden big enough for Hoffman to ride?(Don't have the new book, but models have to be Ht 3 I think for it to work) I think the Peacekeeper is by far the best ride for Hoff. That bonus movement with the discarding of a control card is awesome, especially late game when it can get him into position for 2 melee attacks. Only problem is it can be too fast for the Mechanical Attendant to keep up with. Making up for Hoff's bad ranged units are the chain spears on Hunter and Peacekeeper. Activating Hunter first will usually result in hits with his spear due to the positive flip on units that haven't activated. Before they know if they can be pulled into melee range or explosivo range for Hoffman's pulse attack.
  14. Is there an official ruling on this? I've been playing it like it does(don't tell my friends), but the way it's written, it could go either way. The wording says friendly constructs can ignore listed abilities. Then Ryle's card says he is never considered friendly for the purposes of spells or abilities. Dunno which would take place first or if they cancel each other out.
