  2. Fell through, anyone else available today?
  3. No teaching kids tomorrow so would anyone be available to show me the ropes on Vassal? I've played with it myself a bit but have not had a game. I'm available pretty much any time morning or afternoon tomorrow (eastern time).
  4. Well finishing up those last two models has got me on a bit of a painting kick. Here's my second Austringer and Enslaved Nephilim.
  5. Wow sorry for blowing you off for 3 months! Buying and moving into a new house has occupied a lot of my time. For the shirt I used Reaper Master Series Snow Shadow (#09021) as a base then layered up to almost pure white. So as I was talking the other day about painting with a guy in my group, I realized that only painted one model so far in 2013. And that's not even fair because it was started in October and left sitting on the desk until I packed it up in my move. So, I recently pulled Nino back out and finished up my first model of 2013: This got the ball rolling it seems. I'm definitely back in the mood to lay down some paint. For Christmas every year my group has a paint exchange and I got Ryle done up for me this time. Today I finished up the base to match my crew and snapped a few shots: I now have an Austringer on the painting table about 1/4 of the way done so he'll be next.
  6. Yeah the black really doesn't have much going on. Most of the highlights you are seeing are from the shop lights above. I focused on white this time, so the black will get attention next time I do it.
  7. It's been a while! Unfortunately I have hardly done any painting or hobby in the past few months. I did paint up Mr. Graves for a friend though. Every year our gaming group does a miniature painting exchange for Christmas. Anyone that wants to participate brings three roughly man-sized models and then we are randomly assigned somebody to paint for. The painter then decides on one model of the three to paint up for Christmas. I forgot to snap a photo before I gave it to him under proper lighting but here's how he came out: Im really happy with how the white came out. I wish the black was a bit better but it'll do. Criticism welcome! I've had Nino sitting half finished since October so he's the next one up.
  8. I'm pretty positive listed means physically printed on the card
  9. I recently got into Reaper and I love them. The triad system they use is really nice for quick shade, base, and highlight color selection. I ended up buying 20 different triads and a few metallics and other colors to round everything out. My personal experience with P3 (and keep in mind I only have 6 of their paints) is that they dry glossier than Reaper. For example, I used P3 on Santiago's pants and Reaper on everything else. A little hard to tell but on his left leg you can see the glare on his jeans right above his foot, but nowhere on his coat, gun, face, etc.
  10. That's funny, I just read this bit of fluff for the first time today too. Loved it!
  11. Wish I could take credit for the tutorial but I randomly found it on youtube. What I like about the method is it gives a nice jagged edge really quickly. Instead of a small knife I used a thin saw blade so the teeth helped give it some character.
  12. I considered it, then decided if that happens it'll be at a later date. Too much else to do, hobby and otherwise! And the mountains are SUPER easy to make like that
  13. You should definitely make one of these! It takes some time but you can make it as simple or complicated as you want. I used blue insulation styrofoam from Lowe's. Just cut them on a table saw to 1' squares. I also glued 1' square hardboard to the bottom. This is party because I tend to over build things, but I was thinking it'll help protect against wear and such. After that it was just backyard sand and more layers of the foam for the hills. For the hills I basically followed this idea:
  14. Thanks Demonn, and thanks again for the inspiration! Here's some pics of the first game on it. Board set-up Resser Deployment: Guild Deployment (me): Objective at the end of the dock: Convict waiting to make his move: Executioner about to go swimming: Freshly summoned flesh construct: And lastly I just finished the final mountain piece. Decided to use the left over water effects to make a pond in it too:
  15. I actually haven't played it yet, hopefully tomorrow! Up until now our group hasn't really used climbable terrain or many elevation changes so this'll bring a new element to a game we already love
  16. Thanks! for the mine and lake I made it so they could either be put together or on the edges of the board. If I didn't they would have to be much smaller to fit on one piece. I also have a poor zombie that stumbled off the edge of the dock and forgot he couldn't swim: I'm still developing my skills as a painter but here's a few of my latest paint jobs: I've started on Nino a while ago but haven't done much painting recently. He'll be the next one done.
  17. So I figured I'd start a thread to share any hobby and painting I do. I'll start off by posting the modular board I just finished. This thread was my biggest inspiration for the project. Thanks a lot Demonn! Here's a few shots of the finished project and some possible layouts: It still needs more terrain to fill the empty space, but overall I'm really happy with how it turned out. The mine and large mountain piece with the hole on top are glued down to those board sections but the other three are free to move around however. I also have another mountain piece that is getting some water treatment. Woodland Scenics water is nice but it got expensive quick. I've got some progress pictures so if you want to know how I did something just ask! Enjoy
  18. Here's a good thread on three player games: http://www.wyrd-games.net/showthread.php?33374-Three-Way-Fights-Your-experience I've only ever done the destroy the evidence strategy but it works out very well.
  19. I first bought Sonnia and Perdita. Played Sonnia to learn the basics then started switching it up with Perdita. Then I got Hoffman and played him a few times. I then realized that I wasn't painting my models fast enough so I made myself a rule that I wouldn't play any unpainted figures. Criid is my only painted master so far so I'm getting good use out of her.
  20. Nice! I've just started painting my Hoffman crew so I'll be referring back to this thread for some ideas
