  1. Excellent piece! I love the slightly off-kilter design.
  2. Greetings, and welcome to the forum!
  3. Okay, that actually helps quite a bit, because it helps me envision battlefield roles for these models.
  4. Thanks for the advice. I realize that an all-rounders list is not entirely possible in Malifaux...I am just trying to identify which minions will get used the most and help me to achieve the greatest variety of Strategies/Schemes. I anticipate having a very large collection eventually, but I am limited by a hobby budget so I am trying to stretch my hobby dollars. As far as my opponents, it appears that we have a pretty good mix of all the factions at the LGS, so I'm not sure that I can gameplan for just one type of opponent.
  5. Greetings, everyone. I'm just getting started in Malifaux, and right now all I have is the Lady Justice boxed set. I'm looking to expand that to 35ss fairly quickly, as that seems to be the standard size played around here. After reading some of the threads on this forum, I have played around with the Crew Creator (would pay good money to have that as an iPad/iPhone app) and have come up with the following crew: Lady Justice -- 5 Pool Scales of Justice [2ss] Judge [7ss] Guardian [7ss] Death Marshal [4ss] Death Marshal [4ss] Guild Hound [3ss] Guild Hound [3ss] Guild Austringer [5ss] Now, I haven't had a chance to use some of these models yet, so I was wondering if you had any criticism or tips for a beginner. Do you see any glaring weaknesses or see any Strategies/Schemes that I will struggle with? I am trying to build an all-rounder type list. Thanks in advance!
  6. Great conversion. That pose is fantastic!
  7. My replacement cards arrived in the mail today. That was a very quick resolution to the problem, in my opinion. Good job, Wyrd!
  8. Welcome back! I'm very sorry to hear about all of the real-life difficulties, but it's good to see you on the rebound. Good luck with your return to the hobby!
  9. Hilarious first post, sir. Like yourself, I am the the everyman hobbyist and my mediocrity is shines forth for all the world to see. Godspeed on your painting endeavors!
  10. Greetings, I added our LGS, Pet Shop Comics in Louisville, KY.
  11. Greetings, everyone. The purpose of this thread will be to track my progress in collecting and painting various crews, counters, and terrain for Malifaux. I hope that over time it will become a nice showcase of my work, and perhaps provide some inspiration for others. My Lady Justice/Death Marshals crew arrived in the mail yesterday and I quickly began to prepare them for their first adventures. They all assembled without difficulty, with the exception of the Death Marshal who is crouching on top of his coffin. His arm did not seem to fit very well, but I was able to file it down to fit the pose. At this point I have them all assembled and have put sand/ballast and crumbled cork rocks on all of their bases. In the morning, they will all receive a coat of primer, and I will probably work on getting their bases painted before I take them up to the games store for a trial run. I apologize that there were no pictures in this first post, but bare metal and sand does not make for a very interesting shot. Wish me luck!
  12. I think, after reading your responses and the other thread (thanks for the link, btw!), that I will base them according to crew. Some of the Guild models are still a little confusing to me, like the Austringers and Guild Guard, but I'll figure something out when I actually purchase some.
  13. What you guys said makes sense. I was just a little confused because I started off with the Guild, and from the lists I've seen on this forum, there seems to be a lot more "minion-lending" than in some of the other factions. I was specifically thinking of all the recommendations that I've seen about including Lucius and Guild hounds in Lady J crews. Hmmm....
  14. Wow...This is the least opinionated group of gamers I've ever seen!:684:
  15. I just wanted to add that I had a mis-pack with my Lady J crew. They had accidentally given me the Sonnia Criid crew stat cards. I sent an e-mail to the addresses given in this thread and received a reply from Nathan two minutes after I hit the "Send" button. He said that they would be sending out my new cards this week. So far, Wyrd Customer Service has an A+ from me. I'll let you know when the cards arrive.
  16. Greetings, everyone. So I just ordered my first crew (Lady J), and while I wait for it to arrive, I have been thinking about color schemes and basing options. My question is this: Should I theme the bases on a crew-by-crew or faction-by-faction basis? I know that in this game there is a lot of line crossing, but I want something that will look coherent on the table and not look like a hodgepodge. So, Malifaux pros, what is your opinion?
  17. Welcome, from another newcomer. Good luck with your new crew!
  18. Great work. I like the bases you've chosen, and I agree that the alternate Ramos looks better than the original.
  19. I love your painting style and basing methods. This thread is a real treat...very inspiring!
  20. Welcome, from another newb. Congrats on placing 2nd in the tourney!
  21. Okay, so I just purchased the Lady J starter set off of eBay. I think I got a pretty decent deal. It should get here by the end of this week, so I might even be able to get it assembled before my demo game. Wish me luck!
